Anyone brought up free pr0n & laziness?  The sex drive can be satiated without it being a social event requiring another human.  It's so much easier, cheaper and less of a hassle to just open up an incognito window, find some visual stimulation and jerk off (sorry Texas).

I am pretty convinced that humanity will go extinct in a couple generations after AI sexbots are perfected.  Unless there is some system in place to harvest semen injected into feminine sex bots by men to be injected into women by masculine sex bots.

    Most definitely.

It's one wrinkle to the story about whoring going down that I find interesting.  They're saying in person spending is down because younger generations aren't into sex as much as the boomers but online porn is a huge business.  So, is it just laziness and/or fear of dealing with a woman in person?

I saw this recently and have a mixed opinion. It’s a good movie for sure, but something seemed off. I think it was too slow in parts by far. Then sudden intensity and back again.

The subject matter was definitely disturbing. Dunst did a great job as an exhausted person experiencing horror. The final battle scene was awesome, far fetched, and also disjointed from the rest of the movie.

It’s a tough movie to wrap up in a bow. The Jessie Plemmons bit was the best part and most disturbing.

Just got back after seeing it.  There were audible gasps in the theater about the Plemmons character.  However, shit like that happened in the Civil War here and others around the world.  Towards the end, it turns into a lawless wasteland and people start doing what they want regardless of the depravity.

I'd also echo what others said.  The movie does a good job of straddling the sides to where you're really not sure who is who but that's the point.  You're left to fill in the blanks.  It's also a love letter and a nod to war correspondents.  They're not there to parse the issues.  They're there to report the story and get the pictures and that's what the main characters are doing here.  There's never any talk while driving about the drivers of the civil war in question.  It's just how to do their job.

The combat scenes were on point.

Yeah I figured it out right around halftime that people aren’t restricted to only watching sports on broadcast television. Early adopter and shit.

I don’t even have the heart to say fuck Kawhi any more. He’s already been fucked enough by his broken down body. Get well soon. You’re never winning shit.

    Of course.....

Odds of Paul George bolting after this year for maybe Golden State?  He's never winning anything on the Clippers with The Nephew.

That OKC team ain't fuckin around.

I actually wouldn't be shocked if they went on a crazy run and made someone sweat in the CF

They can throw three elite level wing defenders out there in SGA, Dort, and Cason Wallace.  They're eating BI and McCollum up.  BI can't even get shots up over Dort.

  5. This thread on Twitter parallels this but from the whore realm.  She makes the case that one reason women are leaving the profession is because of decreased demand due to generational differences regarding sex.  Interesting angle that I never really thought of.  The Boomers were huge and seemingly DTF.  Gen X, while still DTF, is significantly smaller, but the Millenialls and younger just aren't as DTF.

There was a shift in campus demographics (women outnumbering men) that happened in around 2007.    Probably related.

    I completely agree.

I'm curious on the cross tabs on this virginity thing.  How many of the virgins never went to college?  My guess is that it's a lot.  They either didn't go or went and washed out and as a result of both, their financial future is bleak and as a result of that, they're not meeting girls.

One of my best childhood friends fits this thread perfectly and I've watched his journey into being a 34 year old virgin.

1.) He was overweight as a kid so he get zero attention from girls and he had zero confidence

2.) Continued being overweight in high school and focused on playing football (OL of course) so much that he never went to prom or on a date

3.) Got hung up on a girl in college that is way out of hi league and never moved on until graduation

4.) Got hit on by an ugly slut in college and didn't pursue her for even a night because he felt some sort of chivalry towards said out of league girl who barely knew his name.

5.) Became an adult and got hung up on another girl out of his league who did text him back but anyone who wasn't an incel could tell she wasn't interested by the way she responded.

6.) Continue gaining weight until he is 5'9" 300lbs

My wife and I set him up with a friend and we doubled with them for his first ever date (he was 28) and it went well enough that the girl wanted a second, but the girl we set him up with had a similar body type to him and he rejected that instantly and never called her back. Now he's a grown ass man at 34 and his prospects are incredibly dim because he's been on one date in his life, and he has no idea how to treat an actual woman if he were to accidently go on a date again. The poor bastard has his bedroom in his 1br apartment completely decorated in a 7th grade male all sports all the time aesthetic. He has never read a book in his life and can't really talk about anything other than sports or action movies. He doesnt travel because he doesnt want to go alone so he'll only go out of town to sporting events with others. He refuses to use dating apps because of his confidence being 0 and says he would never date a woman with a kid.

This dude has a college degree, has been a teacher for over a decade so he makes alright money (relatively to some other incels), and he's a really nice guy so some woman would assuredly be ok with him being a bit immature in tastes as a grown man. He just doesn't give himself a chance and I'm sure there are plenty of other incels that fit into his category that just don't really know what to do or where they fit in society.

    God, that's a sad story.

Either that or he's using the archetype of the "unattainable women" to shield him from real intimacy.  He's comfortable in his life for some reason and waiting for "The One" gives him a pass.  (Plenty of people do this.)

A theme in this thread is unrealistic expectations but that's natural for most everyone and not exclusive to gender.  I hear men bitching about women's expectations, but then you got men who want a hot girl, good job, likes sports, great sense of humor, blah, blah, blah, and meanwhile they're just some guy.

You can probably chart the rise of this and the rise of guys like Andrew Tate and the male entitlement he's selling. Maybe that's a part of it. Maybe some ladies don't want to deal with guys like that. Maybe those guys have such unrealistic ideas of what woman should want or how to get them. I doubt Covid helped with that. It's probably worse now.

Derek Thompson of the Ringer did a really good podcast about that.  Gender Wars Within Gen Z:

    https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-gender-war-within-gen-z/id1594471023?i=1000644344517

He profiles young men in the US, Europe and South Korea for different reasons.  In each case, there was a level of male entitlement both economically and sexually that was not being met.  He made the point that the upscale men aren't as angsty because they have options in both.  Whereas, the working class men were angry because of failed expectations.  (The women did not have the same level of entitlement and in the US, it was white males for obvious reasons.)

He then gets into the self sorting.

I do think he's onto something.  The young men are falling behind in society for reasons mostly their fault but they don't see it that way.  As a result, they're behind economically and can't get women.

The pod is worth a listen.  I thought it was only going on here but it's going on all over the first world.

  9. I found this chart.  Does anyone besides me find this troubling?

    GMBf_25aMAAu1ox?format=jpg&name=900x900

Granted, its from 2018, but I can't imagine the trend is any different now.  Also, 30% is now low and 30 years old is not young.  That being said, I'd point to the rise of smart phones and internet porn being ubiquitous as the beginning in 2008 as the main drivers.  That's obvious, though.

However, is this harmful to society as a whole?  I know the Baptists who want to police our tingly parts to make sure they don't touch may like this trend but let's look at the other side.  I've seen some data about how young men and women are starting to self segregate with various factors.  (Politics, education, etc.)  We watched "Girls State" on Apple and it touched on this.  They were on the same campus as Boys State but it was like watching two different universes.  You could tell the girls didn't want anything to do with them.

When you get past smart phones and the internet, what's puzzles me is how young men just aren't interested in getting laid, to be blunt.  Back in the Gen X days, literally everything we did was in order to get girls.  Get a job, get a car, drive, go to college, make money, stay in shape, etc. were ALL to get girls.  It was rare if you were still a virgin at 18 and especially if you still were in college. When you take away that ambition as a heterosexual (and maybe homosexual) male, there is no reason to get off your mom's couch and put down the controller.

I think there are long term downsides to this, though.  With the self sorting and the lack of ambition by young men to get women, you'll see marriage rates and household formation plummet even more than what they are now.  More troublesome, though, is we'll have an entire generation of angry incels, if we're not there already.  They'll blame the women (of course).  It can't be their fault they can't get a girl.  They'll just get angrier.

I saw a stat a few weeks ago that I'm sure I could dig up if I wanted that said the % of Gen Z women that identified as bi-sexual FAR outstripped women from other generations and then Gen Z men as well.  I took that to mean as the young men were so unimpressive that they were willing to give the other team a try even if they'd prefer to find a man.

This is also at a time where it's easier than it ever has been to get laid through dating apps, internet, etc.  If I were single and had nothing on my radar, I could prolly get laid within a week and get married in six months.  I might not like how that ends up but the point is that it's easy if you're motivated and have just a little bit of skill.

Thoughts from this august body of mostly older (Gen X and above) men?

It started when Presti poached Chip Engelland from Popovich. By reputation, he's the best shooting coach and one of the best backroom staff members to have, and pretty much turned around their shooting overnight. I've been following the Thunder since day 1 and only their 2013 team was an elite shooting team. They have usually lagged behind the other elite teams in this area and it would cost them.

It's also remarkable the Thunder are elite (by SRS and MOV, two reliable predictors of postseason success BTW) despite being the worst rebounding team in the league. For around three-fourths of the regular season, they were either the worst or second-worst ORB and DRB team. They focused on it and became a little better after the All-Star break, but it is an obvious inherent disadvantage. If they make it to the Finals, they would be the worst team ever at a fundamental area of the game to do it. The other handicap is experience even though people don't like to talk about it and think talent overcomes inexperience. But experience isn't a problem until it is.

That was a key move but they also just have better shooters now than they did then.  Worst shooters for them now are Giddey and Dory and they're not terrible, whereas those teams in the past would have 2-3 guys at a time on the court who lacked basic offensive skills.  (The Presti archetype was a shooting guard who couldn't shoot.)

  11. 2 hours ago, Leamas said:

It is partly because they were the best three-point shooting team in the regular season. They had ten players shoot 39% or better on 3pt. Giddey is a poor shooter, but all their other players can shoot. I think the days of OKC running out Perkins and Roberson while their stars get fatigued from trying to out-hero ball double teams appear to be over.

Yeah, I've watched them a lot the past few years and that's spot on.  Presti was always obsessed with position less basketball and he got that on defense back then but he had guys with literally zero offensive skills, which lead to KD and Russ having to play hero ball.

With this group, they've got 10 guys who can get up and down the floor, move, and they can all shoot.  With the exception of Chet, they're completely interchangeable on offense and even Chet can handle and shoot.  They're still good on defense, though.

This zone is really gumming up the okc offense. As much as they lean on SGA and Williams creating off the dribble, I’m surprised we don’t see more teams use it against them. Especially when Giddey is out there who isn’t a shooting threat.

They have 63 at the half.  They're shooting 59% and 55% from 3.

Kinda where I'm at. What are the chances he ends up back in OKC in the next year or two? At least 40% yeah?

It's the perfect solution for both.  He's not winning anything in Phoenix, he'd fit in perfect in OKC, they're the only ones with assets, and it's a great story.

Also, if it matters, Chet has KD's shoe.  (That may not matter at all.)

@ztejas I'm not sure how you can say the depth doesn't look that bad when they just played Drew fucking Eubanks 17 non-garbage time minutes in a playoff game.

The Beal trade wasn't bad, all things considered. Since Phoenix had already given up all their future picks and swaps for Durant, the only thing they had left to trade were some second rounders and swaps on swaps. Meaning, they essentially gave Washington rights to the worse end of a swap that somebody else could potentially exercise. Sloppy seconds swaps, as it were. Based on the Bullets storied history and their current plan of tearing the franchise down to the studs, what are the odds that they get anything out of that? And Washington had no other option because of the idiotic no trade clause Beal had.

But all that goes to the larger point that Phoenix has hardly any options to improve that roster. It took the Knicks almost 15 years to recover from Isiah Thomas gutting their future and putting them in cap hell, and that was before the luxury tax was even marginally punitive. Phoenix will end up keeping their own pick this year, but otherwise don't have control of their own first round pick until 2031. Other than getting ring chasing vets on the minimum or trying to unearth some hidden gems from the g-league or Europe who also would play for the minimum, there aren't many opportunities to improve that roster.

They have a very rapidly closing window that wasn't very wide to begin with, and once it's shut they are going to have to fire sale whatever they can get for Booker and the ghost of Kevin Durant. They are going to look a lot like what Brooklyn does about now sooner rather than later.

Watch OKC offer some package of firsts and players (not the big 3) and nab him after next season.  Suns then restart with that and Booker or trade Booker and restart with all of that.

  15. 20 minutes ago, aggie08 said:

Apologies, forgot that Allen and Jordan did actually play together during Durant's injury year. But the writing was in the wall that they weren't going to re-sign Allen when they brought in Jordan for 4 years at KD's behest. Allen was getting traded in 2020 with or without Harden. They obviously weren't going to commit $30M to centers in 2021.

Beal cost them any and all reasonable mechanisms to acquire quality depth now and in the future. Not exactly a controversial take. Which would be fine if a core of KD/Booker/Beal could be legit championship contenders. But they're not. They gave up a haul and destroyed their cap flexibility for a C-tier star.

Yeah, Beal is guaranteed $57M in 2027 for God's sake and he played 53 games this year, which is the most since 2020.

  16. 5 hours ago, aggie08 said:

I mean, you're not wrong: he has to wear some of this. As much shit as LeBron gets for his movements and GM skills, KD has been much worse. Hitched his wagon to Kyrie by following him to Brooklyn, brought in his friend washed DeAndre Jordan at the expense of Jared Allen, told the Nets to go get Harden, demanded a trade unless Nash (his guy from Golden State) was fired, rescinded that trade request, demanded another trade request after Nash was ultimately fired, then signed off on going all in on Bradley fucking Beal and his redundant skillset at the expense of any and all depth.

You forgot the veiled trade request earlier this year but that about covers it.  In all fairness to LeBron, though, he won titles with three different teams.  Durant won with GS, who won before he got there and after he left.

As far as pure basketball talent, Durant might be on Mt Rushmore.  If it's just one on one scoring ability, I'd take him over anyone today.  Might be the best pure scorer in NBA history.  However, his self awareness and leadership are subpar.  You can take a pass on the leadership but the self awareness is the thing.  No one besides him thought the Phoenix thing would work and now he's stuck there.  He's like a rich guy in a bad marriage with no prenup.  He just needs to make it work somehow.

  17. Durant gonna ask for another trade.

Maybe he'll go to a team with 2-3 of his friends.  They'll all be wing players.  No depth.  He'll wonder why he can't win there and then go somewhere else.

    Also, apparently MAGA has levels.

I was wondering that, too, until we went to Italy and my wife insisted on going by the AAA office to get some paperwork for temporary drivers licenses and whatnot.  Seemed like a blast of a place to work.  You'd get to talk to people all day about where they're going and why they're going there.  A couple in there with us was a very Americanized Iranian couple, prolly in their mid 30's.  He was going back to Iran to visit his grandmother for the first time in 20+ years.

Might have found my retirement job if they're still around.

Do yall have any recommendations for morning protein shakes? Do you recommend eating breakfast at all? My sleep doctor recommended intermittent fasting but it turns out I already do that. From 7pm to noon the next day I don't eat or drink anything besides water. So far it hasn't done much to bring me back into the 220s.

I eat 1-2 pieces of lean skirt steak and 3 eggs.  Lots of protein, no carbs.

May need to shake up your workout if you want to get into that range.

  20. Had my six month labs today for testosterone shots.

6'0" tall here and at the beginning, I was 219.  Down to 215 now.  (Had a bit of a fat weekend, though.)  However, body fat % went from 24% to 16% in that span.  Skeletal muscle mass went from 95 lbs to 105 lbs.  Both significant changes and improvements.

Also made changes to diet and fitness but these testosterone shots are cheat codes.

I thought more so than the matchup issues the lack of experience is what kept it tight in the 4Q. SGA especially fucked up a ton of possessions the last 5 or 6 minutes. Against a better team that's going to get them beat - we'll see how quickly they can learn and adjust.

The D was good all game and really came in clutch - especially thar block by Chet.

Yeah, despite being thin and light and some positions, OKC is good on defense.  (They're long.)  On NO's last possession, OKC had SGA, Dort, Cason Wallace, and Chet on the floor.  Good luck with that.  (Jalen Williams isn't terrible, either.)
