Yeah, social media has been nuts.  Because power failures never happen on cargo ships.  And there’s no current or drift of wind that would ever push a powerless ship off course.  And did the captain really signal “mayday” and did they really close the bridge?  And don’t ships stop moving as soon as they lose power?

The shit about China doing this as the start of a war would be hilarious if some of these idiots didn’t actually believe it.  Occam’s Razor means nothing to them.

At least when they rebuild it, they’ll put better barriers in (bumpers, whatever).

Half of the Republican Party thinks Travis Kelce/Taylor Swift was a CIA operation.

    from last year:  https://nypost.com/2023/01/23/donald-trump-claims-victory-in-club-tournament-despite-missing-first-round/

Donald Trump claimed credit for a club championship despite reportedly not competing in the tournament in the same time parameters as everyone else.

Trump, the 45th president of the United States, claimed victory in the Senior Club championship at Trump International Golf Club in Palm Beach over the weekend.

“A great honor to have won the Senior Club championship at Trump International Golf Club, one of the best courses in the Country, in Palm Beach, Florida,” the former president wrote on his social media platform Truth Social. “Competed against many fine golfers, and was hitting the ball long and straight. The reason that I announce this on fabulous TRUTH is that, in a very real way, it serves as a physical exam, only MUCH tougher. You need strength and stamina to WIN, & I have strength & stamina – most others don’t. You also need strength & stamina to GOVERN!”

Nevertheless, the Daily Mail reports that Trump did not compete in the tournament at the same time as everyone else. While the tournament was slated for Saturday and Sunday, Trump was attending the North Carolina funeral for the vlogger Diamond.

However, according to the report, “competitors arriving for day two of the contest on Sunday morning were surprised (although not exactly shocked) to see his name at the top of the leaderboard with a five-point lead over the overnight leader.”

The outlet explained that Trump shot a stellar round on Thursday. Trump counted this round, which was a score of 40 using the Stableford method, which gives one point for a bogey, two for par and three for a birdie. This score was five points better than the top mark from Saturday’s round.

A Trump spokesperson did not immediately respond to Daily Mail’s request for comment.

Trump has long faced allegations of bending the rules on the golf course.

“To say ‘Donald Trump cheats’ is like saying ‘Michael Phelps swims,’” longtime sportswriter Rick Reilly wrote in the book “Commander in Cheat: How Golf Explains Trump”, which came out in 2019. “He cheats at the highest level. He cheats when people are watching and he cheats when they aren’t. He cheats whether you like it or not. He cheats because that’s how he plays golf … if you’re playing golf with him, he’s going to cheat.”

So, he just claims he won and people believe it?  Where have I seen that before?

  3. It's not as bad as you think.  Take the pills and not the liquid.  You might have to ask for it.  Follow the prep diet for the week leading up to it and that helps.

The shitting the night before is the worst part but that's basically done by 9 pm.

The liberation of the POW camp was awesome. Loved seeing that P-51 fly in with no fucks given.

In “The War” by Ken Burns, he interviewed a woman who was a prisoner in a Japanese camp in the Philippines.  One day there were planes overhead and someone asked “Are those Japanese?”

She smiled and said “With that deep throaty engine, those are American.”

I think about her whenever I’ve heard a P-51 over the years.

The below picture captures what I think Texas has become, or more specifically what the people of Texas have become. I'm happy you feel nostalgia for this state. I used to think this state was the shit. Now I just think it's shit.

Cool thing about history is that we can acknowledge it but are not bound to it. Here's to your daughter making the same memories in a new place. My daughters will do the same. They want no part of this state.

I thought the bookend story arc of Friday Night Lights summed that up and it was my feeling as well.  The premier episode was titled "Texas Forever."  The second to last episode was titled "Texas Whatever."  The characters in the story arc were much like your view and mine.  They became disillusioned with Texas and while it was a part of all of their pasts, the future was someone else for others.

Thankfully, I think she gets it.  She's lived in several countries already, and realized that while she loves them all, she's still a Texas girl.  And for that matter, the actual first item on her resume is "Cowgirl/ranch hand" (as COVID broke, she had to come home from college.  Needed something to do those5-6 months before her school figured out a way to re-open in the fall.  A friend of ours has a Longhorn ranch, and no place else was hiring during COVID....so there she went, to work cattle, the whole nine yards.  It's a conversation starter, at the very least).

She's got a lot to figure out.  But then, at her age, we all did.  At that age, I simultaneously thought I had it all figured out, and also had no fucking idea what I was doing (heavy emphasis on the second thing).  It's a harder age than society acknowledges.  She's bitter about Texas these days, but I too remember being happy to leave Houston behind (it was taking a beating economically those days) and make my life in Austin.  As experience and wisdom accumulated, my thoughts on Houston softened.  I now think it's a damned fine place to live and make your way in the world.  But it took distance and perspective to get me there.  And after 30+ years, I've realized that Houston will always be one of my "homes."  Maybe she'll feel that way about Austin and Texas one day.

I agree with you on your 20's.  Might be the worst decade, actually.  We're all told that after we graduate from college, we'll be making big money and living the life.  Reality is we have crappy jobs and no money and are completely clueless about what we want.  I wouldn't do over my 20's for anything.  HS, college, and even my 30's, yes.  20's?  Hell no.

Having "cowgirl/ranch hand" on the resume is awesome.  I come across tons of resumes and anything original sticks out.  THAT would stick out.  Great conversation starter.  She should keep it on there as long as she can.

  8. 30 posts in and no one has asked for pics of the daughter?  This place has lost its fastball.....

In all seriousness, congrats on raising a wonderful daughter.  At some point in her life, she'll think back and remember how Texas smells, whether it's triggered by a song, a memory, or any number of things.  Someone will ask where she's from, expecting a country but she'll say "I'm from Texas."

    Warts and all.....

As someone who has worked in consumer retail for decades, I can expertly say that half the people in the country are morons.  By definition, half of the people are below average but the bar for "average" is significantly lower than you think.

Thunder losing is nice. Wolves with the old 42 point swing, I was about to go to bed until I checked the damn box score and they were down 8 instead of 18.

Difference between being up 1 game on LA in the 4 or being up 3 and .5 behind the other 2. Huge win

Thunder losing a few might not be bad for them if it gets them out of playing the Lakers in the first round.  It seems like all of these Western Conference teams could beat each other but that's just a bad matchup for Okie City.

Everyone in America over 45 years old has been conditioned to see Russia as the enemy. The Republicans were always the "Nuke Moscow" types and watched Red Dawn on repeat for the last 40 years. Plus they always need an enemy. It was surprising to see people drop a life long hatered because Trump and Putin were in love. Granted, the Democratic party and minority groups are the new enemy, still to see peoples brains switch so quickly was weird.

Don't forget the latent homosexuality that emerged when Putin rode a horse without a shirt on.

Regarding sex drives, it does drop. And also , the walls are thinner or something because sex hurts some for a lot of us. Lube up and really focus on her clit. Once she gets super worked up, you can see from there if that eases her pain enough for penetration. But hurting so good can be fun, with a generous lover. If she is shutting you down a lot, this could be why. Offer back messages with lots of oils and enjoy touching her with no goal in mind. This is the kind of thoughtful behavior that makes her want to try. Most women don't want to give up on intimacy and sex. Focus on being intimate and patient and this will go a long way.
