Such a good and underrated movie. Great score as well.

Most folks aren't aware that Milano was the head of the "Italian Empire" prior to Rome but that discussion would derail this thread.
Are you sure? Milano had the imperial residence for about 116 years after the empire was split in two and before it was moved to Ravenna, but that was after the capitol had been in Rome and before the fall of the western Roman empire. Before it was captured by Rome, it was a Celtic city.

I think our best bet is to do whatever it takes to get Byrd and Foster
They're not coming and haven't been for a while.

Hopefully someone like Leyrer, we need true Tackles.

You've now postedtwo or more times bemoaning how a silo of grain was wiped out; while ignoring the fact that the explosive material was in storage nearby for over 6 years. Six fucking years...but no time to take precautions, right?
LebanonHezbollah is known for doing that shit on purpose.Nothing childish about my reply. I was not antagonizing you. There's nothing wrong about your initial post, Do I have your permission to address issues related to your point?
Hezbollah, not Lebanon. Lebanon needs to get it's shit together for sure, but don't blame the people when they have to choose between speaking up and being car-bombed.

Best guess, the nitrates were destined for rockets Hezbollah was making to bombard Israel with. The Israelis have made very clear that since Hezbollah has taken over the government, and has cowed any internal opposition with murder and bombings, that they would not stand by while a rocket arsenal was built up to attack them. They would make Hezbollah pay regardless of any blowback. Hezbollah has kept their rocket factories producing weapons and has located them, and their storage buildings, in civilian areas to deter their destruction. With a more Iranian friendly government coming in American, and the political Left/Right divide widening in Israel, Hezbollah is learning that their tactics of using the civilian population as shields is no longer a deterrent. I just hope any reckoning finishes before the election as the current trends are favorable for Iran and Hezbollah. Again, best guesses.

The very end was excellent as well. SPR is worthy of its reputation though, because it was by far the "realist" war movie made in a generation at least. Saving Private Ryan changed war movies forever.
I mostly agree and would like to reiterate that the movie was good and well done, just maybe not as good as is thought. The beginning and end were very impactful, but the middle dragged and was filled with tropes and stock characters.

Don't forget the Ted Danson casting. That movie was filled with jarring "friends of steve" casting choices and I think the opinion is starting to finanlly spread that, aside from the opening scene and Hanks, it was full of rehashed tropes and wasn't as good as it's reputation.

Neil degrasse Tyson
His last interview with Tyson was a shitshow, Tyson was on Adderall or something. He was talking over Rogan and you could tell Rogan was getting pissed.
I would really like an interview with Peter Zeihan, or someone like him, about Geopolitical analysis.

Well if a dude with 19 rep points (but a very hypnotic avatar) says so, I've clearly been set straight
Did you read the post fully before you questioned him? He is a longtime OL coach in 6A TX HS football
SpoilerI appreciate that and respect your right to an opinion as well. If you want a full resume I’ll give it to you but In short I’ve coached offensive line for 11 years at two of the better 6A programs in the state. I have two offensive lineman currently in the Big 12 and one in a group of 5 school. In all I’ve had 6 D1 offensive linemen and several others at the lower levels.
And who gives a shit about rep? I've been on this site for more than 10 years.

Watched it again and....damn such a good movie. A little long, but so good. I want to dislike Gosling, but between Drive, 2049, and Nice Guys I'm really becoming a fan.

despite the article title, the why isn't really answered
IMO it is due to pervasive AC. When the body doesn't have to work as hard to regulate it's temperature, it stores excess energy as fat.

Finally got around to watching. Entertaining movie with a lot of great performances, dragged on a bit long. Craig's accent was jarring, it probably didn't help that I recently re-watched the Bond movies but it took a bit of time to get used to. But I'm always a sucker for Craig chewing scenery regardless (see Road to Perdition).
Of the bit parts I liked Michael Shannon the best. The scene where he confronts Marta in the hallway and bangs his cane every time he speaks is genuinely menacing.
If you haven't seen it yet, check out Layer Cake. Sorry about the trailer quality, but it's all I could find.

I've been aware of Dershowitz as a pundit and a professor since I was a teenager. But I've never seen him actually "lawyer" until the televised (Ukraine) impeachment hearings, where I found him to be laughably incompetent.
And after watching about 10 minutes of that, I decided that law was pretty much like every other field - where the people who are the faces and purported experts of the field are generally just self-promoting buffoons, and not at all the cream of the profession.
Watch Reversal of Fortune. Great film with acting by Jeremy Irons and Ron Silver as Dershowitz.

I will say the surgery scene and the implants could have been better. The Art Director or whoever was in charge of that part was the weak link on the production team.

Wiki says the budget was 3m and it made 18m. Really wish it had gotten more play as it was great original Scifi and was really well acted and done.

Exactly how hard is it to just look at Ketch's LoneStar 100 or Looch 44 lists and offer and recruit just the top 20. Then look up the national composite ranking and offer the top 50 overall players.. We make this soooooo difficult. Recruiting services do all the hard work, we just have to close
