I guess that is one perk of working for a gigantic engineering firm, none of that religious bullshit.

I’m a dog person. Love my dog (and really miss my boxer that died last year). But people who don’t have kids but try to equate having a dog as basically the same thing really annoy the fuck out of me. Not talking about the ones that joke about it and know there is a huge difference, but the ones who have convinced themselves that the responsibilities of owning a dog are the same as raising a child. A lot of broken brains out there.

I think it’s at Trendsetter Engineering. Some Mickey Mouse engineering company.

Over/under on turnovers by Maalik Murphy 2.5
Will you cut it out with those negative waves man? -
I'm taking 3 of my little kids with me this weekend. Tomorrow night we're going to Matt's El Rancho. After the game on Saturday, I'm taking them out to Salt Lick for the evening. Sunday morning, we're going to grab some Bill Miller breakfast tacos and Starbuck's coffee and pumpkin spiced lattes and then heading home.
I'll be posting numerous photos and reviews on this thread of each experience, in an effort to help folks like you that might not have enough background on all of the culinary marvels that greater Austin has to offer for the out-of-towners.
Doing God’s work. -
Pass.
Can we get to the bbq recommendations portion of the game week thread now?- 1

"Matt and Kim" playing LCL Saturday. That is definitely an act that I have heard of before.
Who the hell is that? -
Was just talking to family about this asshole visiting our neck of the woods. Looks like he is gonna be rallying the magats at some small engineering firm behind the chik fil a.

Might need some bbq tomorrow. I am wondering if there is anything excellent that I haven’t tried in the Houston area. Chances are I’ll just end up at Truth. Open to suggestions for places where the bbq is the best thing on the menu, not the sides.

The sponsors will try again. I did read a lot of the GOP conference wanted to wait until the ethics committee report comes out later this month.
I get it, but why? It’s not like you have to show your work to be a congressperson. -
If you don’t want a line but want quality, L&L and the time at Moreno BBQ was good stuff.
He’s from Boston. Send him to bill millers and dickeys.
According the the football brainiacs, you send tourists to Salt Lick.- 1

Not happening. Failed
Of course. I wonder why? I’ll give you three guesses and the first two don’t count. -

Pretty much how I am, but always, to each their own. The sauce is for the sausage, maybe even mix a little with the potato salad and beans.... until the foldy/sammie, then I put some sauce on that. Cuts into the bread, plus let's not all pretend that a lot of us didn't grow up eating chopped BBQ sandos with sauce on it, so it's there in the DNA somewhere.
I prefer sliced brisket sandwiches. However, in my shitty opinion, it’s not a chopped beef sandwich if it’s not sauced. To me that is like ordering a pizza and telling them to hold the cheese. It is integral to a chopped beef sandwich.- 4

Great bbq, no sauce. Except my Pops’ brisket and the family sauce recipe. Just the way I grew up eating it (put the sauce on rice).
Other exception for me, as others mentioned, is a sandwich. Half the time I go eat bbq I will make a mini sandwich with the white bread. The sauce is a great binding agent and adds some flavor and moisture to the white bread.
Mustard based sauce is good for dipping sausage.
I’m not a sauce hater, just not a sauce lover either. And yeah, well smoked fatty brisket should not need sauce. I won’t slap you if you put some on it though. -
Y’all are making me miss my old job.

Kinky.
Goddamn it. After.
But yeah. -
for some reason I can't shit on the weekends
then Monday arrives, and suddenly I'm filling up the thing to above the waterline... and that's just the first trip
what's goin on down there
My uncle had one. Pretty sure he did some swinging with one or both of his wives (not Mormon, one wife archer the other). We would go visit him and my grandma in San Antonio and I knew he hid his stash of playboys under the waterbed. Uncomfortable as hell to sleep on. Not sure how they are for boning on. -
Did you get shushed for talking in the capuchin chapel?
No. I was by myself on the tour of the crypts/catacombs and the capuchin chapel. -
I found the capuchin chapel more interesting than the Vatican. But I am a morbid heathen. I did sneak photos of both the Sistine chapel ceiling and the capuchin ossuary.

Do people still buy/use waterbeds?

What is the point of prayer
in Daily Texan
Posted
Earlier this week I was standing on the driveway watching my little girls ride their scooters when my next door neighbor came home from walking her dog. We got to talking and I mentioned that we are still thinking about moving to another neighborhood. She told me (twice) that she would be praying that we stayed. I thought that was bizarre. I mean, with all the things going on in the world these days, she would be praying that we don’t move away.
It got me to thinking, what is the point of prayer for most people. I’m not religious at all, so I have my biases. I am guessing for some people it is form of meditation that helps calm their nerves? Or do people think that God listens to each and every prayer and then holds a board meeting with the angels and decides which prayers he will answer? I have asked this before in another thread, but is there a threshold where he has to answer it? Like the prayer requests you see on social media…if you get thousands of prayers, does that make it any different than one or two people praying?
Any of y’all abrahamic types able to help me understand?
