  1. Meh, its a max deal. I mean I guess they could have tried to give him 4 yrs but that was the advantage that owners wanted in giving the fifth yr. If they offer 4 then he can say fuck yall and get the same on the open market.
  2. Owners wanted to cap contracts. This is the result of the max level contract scale.
  3. LOL, exactly the stuff about LBJ not being clutch is wild as hell.
  4. Wait, wait, wait........Jokic over Shaq? Dirk is better than KD?
  5. All this hand wringing and real ballers respect what she did.
  6. The responses to this are pretty wild. I dont know that a superstar MVP level player has ever gotten softer treatment from the media and fans. Everyone is acting like PHI has done him wrong when his bitch ass has failed spectacularly many times. PHI not getting past the 2nd round is almost totally on him failing the team. The org definitely has fucked up plenty but they have not failed him.
  7. Again, the Curry deal, the Starbury deal and others were because he wasnt allowed to burn it to the ground and start over. It was always trying to patch up what was already fucked. Sometimes you have to take your medicine and let shit go. Did he give up too much for Curry? Sure!!! Unconscionable in hindsight but it was done to try and keep them as a playoff team instead of letting the shit go bad and build for a few yrs down the road. All that said, I dont even think that Zeke is driving force behind all of this. James Jones has proven to be a very good GM. With him minding the cap info I think they will be fine for the most part. They are clearly too top heavy and consequently very susceptible to an injury to their main guys torpedoing their season. I grew up in the D in the 80's, sue me.
  8. The first round picks are already gone at this point. If you are going with those 4 (and I totally get the debate on why they shouldnt) this is the only path. I'm partial cause I LOVE Isiah, always have and always will. I get that he is quite polarizing but I think his rep as a bad GM is vastly overblown. He was great in TOR drafting Damon Stoudamire, Marcus Camby and Tracy McGrady in 3 straight drafts helping to build them to a fairly decent team within a few yrs of their existence. People tend to forget how badly Scott Layden had the Knicks cap situation when Thomas got there. He made it worse with some of his moves for sure but a lot of that went from a mandate from ownership not to completely tear it down so he always had to try and get guys on 2nd chances and hope they panned out. Penny Hardaway, Stephon Marbury, Steve Francis, even the Eddy Curry thing. The sexual harassment shit is completely inexcusable, no question about that and casts a huge negative on his time there. Worse than any move he made obviously. Even with the Knicks he was pretty good drafting David Lee, Trevor Ariza and Wilson Chandler pretty late in their respective drafts. If Zeke is the one judging talent and making the decision on drafting, I like what they can do with all those 2RPs. Additionally, players, former and current, LOVE him. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2017954-turns-out-isiah-thomas-was-sort-of-a-good-gm-according-to-new-study
  9. I like what PHX is doing stacking up 2nd round picks for pick swaps that they already have swaps for LOL. They wont be able to afford any 1st round picks for a while anyway if they really are going to keep Beal, Booker, KD and Ayton together. May as well have a whole bunch of 2RPs and hope that one or two pan out to be rotation guys. There are always a couple guys that are far more ready to contribute in the 2nd. Having more chances to find one is great idea for their situation.
  10. Shaq is one of the exceptions. He left ORL when they were just in the finals and had a young team built for success. Obviously it worked out to be the right call. Helps that it was crazy money and LA over Orlando
  11. So many in the media have been trying to make Giannis into that kind of guy since he became a star when he has shown over and over he isnt interested in going to a bigger market.
  12. Cant imagine Giannis asking out, and asking to go BOS and that would be the only way it would happen. BOS could offer basically their whole team and MIL should turn it down.
  13. Keep in mind only the 1st round picks have guaranteed contracts.
  14. No way the actually make all of those picks. They will keep trading them further down the line. The goal is simply to have someone's pick when they have a top 3 pick. Otherwise they will trade them to either get a big time player like they did to get PG.
  15. Bridges was the 3rd or 4th option until he was traded to the Nets. He play after the trade showed me more than anything Herro has done They cannot trade him until Jan 15 or so. Havent heard any rumors of them shopping him.
  16. Recouping some of those 2nds they gave up to get Beal
  17. Yeah that statement from Dame's agent should be met with a "yeah whatever". He has 4 yrs left on his deal and $200M+. IF he wanted that kind of leverage he shouldnt have signed the extension last yr.
  18. Yep, couldnt see anyway POR wouldnt match and just lose him for nothing. They can always trade him at the deadline if they really dont see a future for him. The cap space taken by his deal means nothing to them right now. Its not like they are looking to sign FAs
  19. Bridges showed much more after the trade to the Nets than Herro ever has IMO. That trade would be silly for the Nets
