I don't think anyone thought the laptop didn't physically exist or that there wasn't some legitimate information from Hunter Biden on it. What is questionable is how the laptop got to repair shop and how the information got on the laptop. What is also more than questionable is why any of it matters or why you think it is a story again. (Hint: the answer to a lot of those questions are going to involve Russia).17 points

If the shit hits the fan, we will look back in history on how the propaganda here at home played such a huge role in WW3. I cannot for the life of me understand how intelligent people can stomach that shit, Republican or not. We are currently a people incapable of self evaluation. I spoke before on paying attention to who is voting with you. Well, if Russian State TV is using your favorite talk shows in THEIR propaganda, you should probably do some soul searching. I mean, the same group who has commandeered the American flag, the same group who is the first one to say you aren't a patriot if, are at home giving a standing ovation to programming also being shown as positive in a country with a dictator trying to start WW3. Where have we fallen? These people's dead grandparents hated the "commies" and now their offspring are running around with "Lets go Brandon" stickers, denigrating the current president of our United States, while at the same time chest-bumping a likely soon to be Communist Dictator. How less patriotic can you be? They must be rolling in their graves.15 points

Pos rep. I love a good reconsideration. I also like that you don't feel obliged to say you hate Hillary Clinton. People may not like her or agree with her, but the hate for her is the product of the right's hate engine. They planted this hate seed back before many people realized that right wing propagandists had no regard whatsoever for actual truth. Even as actual conservatives recoiled from the abomination that the GOP made of their political ideology, I feel that many could not weed out some of the poison that was already administered to their beliefs. Again, I'm not saying we all should love any politician or even like one. I do feel that the hate towards H. Clinton is out of proportion and unfair. She's an accomplished woman from her days as a student through practicing law to national service. I have no regrets about voting for her. It's sad that had she won the presidency, the right wing, lock-step hate engine would have burned the whole country down in a different way so they could blame it on her. I honestly don't know that Clinton being elected president would have been actually better for the country. At least some have spit the bit on the hate engine. The lines are now clear for the pro-republic party even if the fascist party lives in a toxic bubble of delusion.14 points

Our basketball “fans” suck. Y’all are on here shitting on a coach that was far and away the best we’ve ever had here. It’s not even close. Did the end of his tenure suck? Sure it did. But he put us on the map in a way we’ve never been before and got us in a position to hire Shakablah. Utter failure but he was turning down teams with way better pedigree than we have. And then we got Beard. A bunch of us really, really like what we are seeing. But sure let’s go back to Penders and Weltlich and Lemons and Black and Bradley. the vitriol for the best coach we’ve ever had, by far, is amazing. We’ve had 36 NCAA tournament berths since WW2. 16 were under Barnes.14 points

Man, we were gonna win like 10 games this year. We had nothing coming back. Beard got AJ back and all those transfers and we won our first tourney game in 8 years. This is something to build on. And something to recruit on.13 points

(1) False. See the article from October 22, 2020, right before the election. https://newsletters.theatlantic.com/the-third-rail/6234aa276c90860020516e75/republican-conspiracy-russia-ukraine/ (2) Worse than Nixon sabotaging peace talks with North Vietnam before the 1968 election? Worse than Watergate? Worse than Manafort handing over internal polling information to a Russian operative? Worse than Roger Stone working with Wikileaks to leaked DNC emails stolen by the Russians? (3) Again, false. See (1). (4) Did they though? (5) False. You made this thread late at night when few were awake and didn't even respond the few posters who replied last night. (6) Not by China, he didn't. Even the Wall Street Journal and Fox News disagree: Bobulinski said that, in 2017, Hunter Biden consulted with his father about forming a new venture with CEFC China Energy Co. to invest in real estate and technology in the U.S. Bobulinski was brought into the venture by James Gilliar, an English businessman who purportedly knew the Bidens through Rob Walker, a former Clinton administration official. Bobulinski became a partner and CEO of the venture, which was named SinoHawk Holdings LLC. The company was incorporated in Delaware in May 2017. The Wall Street Journal reported that the deal fell through; SinoHawk never received money from or completed deals with the Chinese oil company. According to the newspaper, Hunter, Joe Biden’s brother James, Gilliar and Walker were also involved — but there was no role for Joe Biden. Bobulinski claimed otherwise. "Everything I’m saying is corroborated by emails, WhatsApp chats, agreements, documents and other evidence," he told reporters gathered Oct. 22, before gesturing to three phones that he claimed contained incriminating evidence and said he would hand over to authorities. Bobulinski provided some of his records to outlets like Fox News and the Wall Street Journal. Both reported that they do not show Joe Biden had business dealings with SinoHawk Holdings or took money from the Chinese company. https://www.politifact.com/article/2020/oct/29/tony-bobulinski-hunter-biden-and-china-explainer/ (7) And, just to be clear, that twitter account is reposting shit about Ukraine from a pro-Kremlin news channel (see below), is posting anti-vaxx shit, and c) is posting shit about buying and selling gemstones. In sum, you're spreading disinformation. I'll be generous here and assume you believe everything you posted last night and are just an easily duped victim or stooge (aka useful idiot). Believing otherwise would mean you're a liar, hell-bent on malicious intent. Which is it? Care to debate?13 points

As Dahobbs said, I don't think anyone contested whether the laptop was Hunter Biden's. But it was highly suspicious that it turned up in the way it did at the time it did. You may not know this, but when a computer is analyzed, forensic techniques are employed to insure that the data contained on it is not "tampered with." There was zero evidence that anything remotely like those forensic techniques was followed in producing the allegedly "incriminating" data on the laptop. Random shitheads turned up with various emails and things, of uncertain provenance, claiming they were from the Biden laptop. And made wildly extravagant claims about what they proved. It was suspicious. And that is what the MSM reported. https://www.cnn.com/2020/10/21/politics/fbi-russia-disinformation/index.html You're going to have to show your work here. This seems to be the source of the "Russian plant" notion https://www.politico.com/f/?id=00000175-4393-d7aa-af77-579f9b330000 MSM reported that, too. The problem is, team Trump doesn't have much credibility on things like this. And why would you expect Dems to run with any other story? They are a political party, you know, and they don't have spectacular records for veracity and candor. The fat orange baboon out front should have told you that. And, of course, here's the fake NYT with the story. But most of all, what difference does it make. We know that Hunter Biden is a drug and sex-addicted loose cannon with some shady associates and business dealings. Even with the fevered reporting of the alleged contents of the laptop, there still isn't anything legitimately connecting Joe to Hunter's shenanigans. But the best question of all is why are you digging around on right-wing media at 2AM on a Sunday morning, CDT.13 points

What evil is it that you think happened? For once in your life, just directly state your opinion rather than beat around the bush with vague questions and insinuations. The story was taken down from some platforms for a couple of days, largely because the NY Post did zero journalism in actually verifying anything.11 points

What if over the second half of the season we actually developed into an offense that can put up 80 with some regularity, but we just didn't see it because we were playing in the toughest defensive conference in the country? What if scoring 81 against Va Tech (#23 in scoring defense) was no fluke? What if we're about to go apeshit on the #152 scoring defense in the country tonight?10 points

Going down the Wikipedia and twitter and other rabbit holes about why Russia sucks so bad, and a couple of things keep popping up. First, a lot of us here and elsewhere that are everything from random internet posters to various military and European analysts are shocked, and it's because we are biased because we are in our 40s and older, and so the Soviet Union was a real bogeyman. Many of us remember the duck-and-cover bullshit. It was in our culture - we remember the stuff that Ronald Reagan talked about in his speeches, and particularly for those of us growing up in the late 70s and early 80s, we had Rocky IV, Rambo III, Red Dawn, Top Gun, The Day After Tomorrow, Falcon and the Snowman, Firefox, Invasion USA, and Spies Like Us, Hunt for Red October (technically filmed in 1989). It's really hard to explain to younger people what it was like to have the biggest ass-kickingest movies being about us facing off against the Russians in various ways. Two things kept jumping out. 1. Russia hasn't fought a real enemy since WWII. Sure, they had advisors in the Korean War, Vietnam, all over the Middle East, Cuba/Angola, and they've been very active in Syria in recent years. None of them prepared them for a stand-up fight against a well-organized and well-equipped army backed by a determined populace. 2. The Russian military being incompetent is by design, because the civilian leadership fears the military. This is where it gets interesting - quite a few people believe the Russian military, at least the combat troops (Army, Naval Infantry, etc.), are, by design, meant to be shit, including the more elite units. They are meant to be poorly led, and their structure is designed such that it's not necessarily the most competent and driven who wind up in the upper ranks, and the system basically allows for the kind of shit like officers stealing the men's rations and selling them on the black market, etc.. The whole conscript system also really hurts the military, due to a very high turnover every year, again completely by design. There's even some speculation that the high number of Russian generals/senior leaders being killed is because they just weren't that good (OpSec, situational awareness, etc.) and they didn't have good officers below them to keep the fuckups from happening in the fist place, that caused them to have to go to the front. It gets really interesting when you get into the upper ranks, who are not what you would think the military would be - feels like the old Soviet Union days when it was more about who was loyal to the state/party than who was the most competent. Hell the top guy, Sergei Shoigu, Minster of Defense and General of the Army, was not a military man. He was a construction worker/manager who made his way into some minor roles in the Communist Party in the USSR days, and then post-breakup, worked his way up through various political positions. Why do they fear the military? Plenty of empires/large countries have been undone by the military during times of revolution (after all, in those times, the military would be the most powerful entity) and Russia is no exception. Lenin and Trotsky both discussed what would happen if you had military officers who were ambitious (think Napoleon) and the Red Army of the USSR was designed with political officers whose job was to make sure that soldiers were 100% loyal to the USSR and the Communist Party, and that their loyalty was first and foremost to the state and not their leaders/officers. They would spy on soldiers, and they had power over those soldiers, and they were constantly giving soldiers lessons that indoctrinated them into Leninism, Marxism, etc. Putin basically revived this concept of having a part of the military whose job it is, is to ensure the loyalty of the military to Putin and Co., back in 2018 (https://www.reuters.com/article/us-russia-military-politics/in-soviet-echo-putin-gives-russian-army-a-political-wing-idUSKBN1KL1VA) Right now, an extremely competent Russian Army could really fuck with Putin's plans. What would stop them? 1. The National Guard of Russia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Guard_of_Russia) created in 2016, which is independent of the military and reports directly to Putin. 340,000-strong private internal military meant to protect the government and operate internally within Russian borders. 2. The FSB (Federal Security Service https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Security_Service ) again, reports directly to Putin. Successor to the KGB, and basically Russia's federal police force, FBI, Border Patrol, etc., all rolled into one. Hundreds of thousands of members. If Russia had an extremely competent military, with extremely competent senior leadership, who had come up through the ranks of the military, which made made them more loyal to the military (or Russia) than Putin, that's an incredibly dangerous thing for Putin. And Putin would be well aware of countries like Turkey where the military has taken matters into their own hands in the past. And Putin would have also been keenly aware of the assassination attempts made on Hitler by his generals. Putin has nothing to fear from civilians themselves rising up. He has too many internal security forces (FSB and National Guard). His biggest threat is ultimately from the oligarchs and the military, and he's went to great lengths to make sure that if he goes down, the oligarchs go down, so they are loyal (at least the ones remaining in Russia). Next post I'll include some interesting tweets from somebody who wrote a lot about this kind of stuff, and about Putin's fears/problems. This guy has written a lot about this, about how the Russian military was kept in check, and how it harkens back to the Soviet days https://twitter.com/kamilkazani10 points

The Kremlin is mirroring American right-wing talking points to make their propaganda more palatable to a US audience. Hannity not only repeated and wholeheartedly agreed with the Kremlin spokesperson but they added that video of Biden to further suggest he's old and feeble. We'll see a lot more of this kind of coordination between Russia and American fascists in the lead up to the mid-terms. They'd rather be Russian than Democrats and they hate American "liberals" above all else after 30 plus years of shit like this being their news.9 points

Even if all of the Hunter Biden mess was true, why is it any more of a concern than the Trump family business interests prior to, and conducted during, the Trump Presidency? Hunter's business interests are alleged, while the Trump family's are well documented. Why are you in a frenzy over one, but not the other?8 points

Wife: Could you pick up food for the kids? Me: Where? Wife: McDonald’s. Me: Gross, but ok. Text me what you want me to order. (This is very important to the story) Wife: OK. Me: Driving to McGross, receives a text. Wife: I placed an order using the McDisgusting App Me: Ok. Wife: Just show them this picture. Pic of order number and info included. Huge line when I pull up. Almost out to the street. Me (to McDrone): I’ve got a pickup order, the number is 8675309. McDrone: Pull around. Me: waiting 25 fucking minutes to get to the window. Wife: Have you picked it up yet? Kids are hungry. Me: Still not to window yet. Me: Shows McDrone the picture. McDrone: Is this a picture of the order? Me: It is. McDrone: I’ll have to get my manager. Please pull up to 3rd window. McManager: Sir we need the actual phone that the order was placed on. Me: Seriously? I just waited 45 min for your McGarbage and despite you having this order at the restaurant and me having a picture of it you won’t give it to me? McManager: That’s correct. Me: May I place the exact same order here and pay for it here? McManager: We can’t take payments or orders at this window, you’ll have to pull around and go through the line again. Wife: Are you almost home? Me: [seething as I pull around] I asked you to tell me what to order. Wife: What happened? Me: Describes issue. Wife: Kids are really hungry, please go through line. Me: I’m back in line, what is order? I finally get home, she’s pissed that I took so long. It took everything I had not to flip out because she’s mad at me for having to go through the line 2x (took well over an hr), because her plan made more sense to her. Wife: ”It’s never been an issue before” Me: Whose phone did you order on? Her: Mine. Me: Whose phone did you show them? Her: Mine. Me: Oh, and she got madder when I made her get onto the app and cancel the order, which led to her having to call McDonald’s corporate.8 points

If you think about it, Coaching really kept us in this game and mentality he’s installed in this team!!!! Timmy fouled out and only scored 2 pts they shot 40+ free throws they had a projected lottery pick we went on a 0-20 drought and two bigs better than anything we have AND STILL we still had a chance to win at the end!!!! Beard is the right guy . . Let him work!!7 points

Look, we knew from December that this team wasn’t as good as we’d hoped for and this season was going to end with a loss. They all do in our history (absent the 2 NIt’s but who gives a fuck, really). We didn’t go down like little bitches and we won a tournament game for the first time in forever. Call it a success, get AJ back for his 18th year on campus, recruit the portal and hope the freshmen are as good as advertised. I think Beard will have us as good as peak Barnes here in a bit, maybe we will get a little luckier than we were under Rick and the stars will all align for us some year. Either way, it was nice to enjoy the first basketball season in like a decade.7 points

Nope. Direct engagement by the US and NATO gives Putin what he wants: an external boogeyman enemy that he can use to actually unite Russian support behind him. As much as it pains us to see him taking out pawns, and we could stop him if just bring out our Queen….but that’s what he wants us to do. So…no. There is no magical choice that gives us a happy ending.7 points

@Passive Aggressive Coach has successfully completed the first two steps of the three-step @Parliament. These steps are, of course: 1) Post something really inflammatory that is immediate shown to be bullshit and/or easily disproven. 2) Never reply to any of these statements. 3) Post over in DT about all the mean CR posters. I can't wait for the 3rd step!7 points
