  10. I think states with governments that actually do shit that makes the state better for people that live in it exist - the states that you are referring to do the opposite of that regardless of political affiliation. You and many other broken brained red-washed party fueled maniacs keep labeling me as something that I most definitely am not and I've clarified it many times. Stop calling me a liberal or leftist or insinuating that I'm discontent with the way the government operates because of the stupid fucking party affiliation of the elected officials. I want fucking idiots out of office, I want the clown show to stop and I want a government that actually works to come back to Texas, because we had a working government here for a VERY LONG TIME, it has just recently started to swirl the drain aggressively because of policies that align less with the people of the state, but more with the people who want to create a national identity through the states.

  11. Here's my deal. I am virulently anti-Republican, currently. And, I like what most Democrats stand for in the most general ways. Meaning, I like where their policies "come from," without necessarily liking the policy itself or its proffered implementation. So I can't get behind them 100%, but I have no alternative. If we had an even semi-functional political system, where the Republicans participated in good faith, we could actually debate these policies, "hone" them, and maybe actually solve some problems and get shit done. But we don't. It's a very unsatisfying place to be. I am not 100% convinced the Trumpkins are going to succeed in establishing a fascist dictatorship. But I admit that it is going to be a near thing and I am nervous about it.

  14. In their first victory of the 2024 season, the University of Texas became the first SEC team to reach the 3800-win mark. The Texas's winning percentage of .735 leads everyone and is ranks 1st among NCAA Division I schools.

  16. The irony of this is, IT'S HER OWN GOTDAMN LAWSUIT. An organization filed a petition with Raffensperger to bar her candidacy. https://freespeechforpeople.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/fsfp-mtg-14.3-georgia-complaint-2022-03-24.pdf MTG filed the lawsuit to stop the petition. Don't be filing lawsuits if you don't want to testify in them, you stupid flapping gash.

  20. Listen, I revel in the shit talking when there isn't a darker undercurrent to a poster's behavior, be that they seem legitimately crazy or are a doxxing asshat or legitimately stupid. I still haven't figured out whether I get more entertainment from being absurdly wrong on something and watching people climb over each other to tell me what kind of imbecile or fuckup I am, or if it is more glorious when I get to tell a bunch of you dickwads how much of a soothsayer I was as each of you on the other side of the subject lose your shit. Probably the former though. Gloating has a short shelf-life before I start irritating friends, enemies, and myself. You dickhead. Yes, though, I am going to write one before that game. If the "Why Alabama Gargles Balls This Year" post from Shaggy can be found, I'll link to that at the end of it. Watching Tom Herman's antics, and our recruitment of Urban Meyer, taught me exactly where my line is that I do not want to see crossed. It turns out, I want wins all the way up to but falling just short of Barry Switzer/Jimbo Fisher behaviors with bags and player latitude. Briles, Sandusky/Paterno, Schembechler are miles past that, but yeah, give me football players who can win titles and at least vaguely attempt the notion of school. No rape factories, drug dealing in dorms, widespread player molesting, or child rape cover-ups, please.

  21. I just lost my step mother to covid. 75 years old, unvaccinated. She was a southern baptist who completely bought into the alt-truth narrative regarding covid and vaccines. She had somehow managed to avoid covid with no precautions taken this whole time. But a couple weeks ago she apparently caught it, got sick, it got serious, went to the hospital, died two days later. I had no idea until one of her biological children (likewise an alt-truth believer) called me yesterday to let me know she had died of “pneumonia.” Another, more sensible of her biological children called me later and told me the pneumonia was the result of covid. I’m sad. She was a big figure in my childhood, but we had grown distant as our world views had become pretty radically opposed. I wish she would have just taken the vaccine. I wish she could have been allowed to just be a conservative Christian without being unwittingly conscripted as cannon fodder in this ridiculous war being waged against harsh, uncomfortable reality. I keep turning to this passage from a River Runs Through It that has always resonated with me: ”Each one of us here today will at one time in our lives look upon a loved one who is in need and ask the same question: We are willing to help, Lord, but what, if anything, is needed? For it is true we can seldom help those closest to us. Either we don't know what part of ourselves to give or, more often than not, the part we have to give is not wanted. And so it is those we live with and should know who elude us. But we can still love them - we can love completely without complete understanding.”

  23. Leaning towards the @Bullneck scenario here. It’s important to see that one party has openly admitted that they aren’t trying to convince most of the country to vote for them anymore. No political movement in America has been above gerrymandering and playing the system to your strength, to get your folks out and keep others at home on election day— but we’ve never had one major party admit that they want to achieve minority rule and lay out so clearly how they’re going to do it. And that’s the kiss of death for a democracy— when major players decide to stop trying to actually win elections but instead get into power by other means. The other party is still playing by the old rules because they believe in them. It’s as if a team not only refused to use the forward pass, but they refused to even defend against it because they liked the old way better.

  28. This is great, but it makes me so fucking mad that a fucking state senator did this before any national-level Democrat. This isn't hard. Every fucking Democrat should be saying shit like this constantly. Talk about your actual values and attack the GOP for being the cretins they fucking are instead of constantly talking about how actually you don't want to defund the police.

  29. Really, there's no middle ground? Is Biden taking away our guns? Is Biden trying keep our nation safe from the Corona Virus? Is Biden stumping on making our education system free or dumping all college loans despite pressure to do so? Is Biden expanding drilling and opening petroleum reserves in an effort to reduce gas prices while our own petroleum industry fights him and Americans by artificially inflating them? Is Biden working on affordable to free health care and building green energy for the future--that's common sense, especially when tyrants benefit from petroleum? Is Biden trying to pass legislation to up taxes on the rich to pay their fare share which would lower taxes on the middle class? I think these are middle of the road concerns or should be. What far left legislation is being passed?
