  1. They’re going to use Putin’s meeting table as a bridge from the Crimean to Moldova

  2. This is truth. The Poles are also playing their own game here, and it’s not a bad one. They’re successfully speeding up their own modernization by pushing us to backfill what they send to Ukraine— which they wanted to divest of anyway, but now it’s on faster and more favorable terms. They are leveraging energy concerns. The Poles have LNG terminals and just these past few weeks they have had a flurry of activity with the Czechs, who now want to build out a transit network and also possibly finance more LNG terminals on their Baltic Coast (beating Germans to the punch as Europe’s supplier). They are now going to protect Slovak air space and will be a key partner once Slovakia gets its own F-16s. They’ve “consciously uncoupled” from Hungary and Orban and are not only back in the EU’s good graces, they’re probably more morally credible than the Germans at this point inside the EU. Poland stands to emerge as a legitimate European power player and not just an eastern headache and gadfly, especially with the good will they have garnered from the Baltics down to the Hungarian border as a benign and helpful neighbor.

  3. I badly want us to troll Russia with this new lend-lease by offering Ukraine a few old destroyers in exchange for the use of Sevastopol as a U.S. naval base after they win it back.

  4. I am 100% in favor of players getting their piece of the pie, but programs just straight up buying guys off other teams’ rosters doesn’t seem like it will end well.

  5. I for one appreciate that he skipped right over all of Hitler’s successes and jumped right to the crazy guy that was in love with his weaponry that may or may not exist who made ludicrous battlefield decisions and asked way more of his armed forces than they could possibly deliver.

  8. It’s absolutely pointless because the same crew would be against anything this administration floats under the pretense of fiscal concern…which was lacking during that stupid ‘middle class tax break’, refusing to increase prime rates during a boom, and other items under R admins. But I’ll say I don’t know how ‘kids these days’ manage to navigate the current environment without going insane…20 years ago I finished undergrad with $15k in loans at a <2% rate, bought a decent car (4 year old Honda Prelude) for $8k at 23yo, bought a starter house for $125k at 25yo, and had at least enough disposable income for food/beer/etc and 401k. My annual salary during this 3 year period grew from $35k-$45k. Now they graduate with loans easily 3-4x that, crappy decade-old used cars are 3x that, and that starter home is appraised at almost 4x what I bought/sold it for. I know entry level consumer L1 phone techs aren’t getting paid 3-4x what I did in those days when I paid for all that stuff. I’m only making in that range after 20 years and many promotions. Starting my career over right now would mean no nicer car, no house, much larger student debt to overcome…my life would be very different. If people of my or older generations don’t recognize the financial realities of how different things are now…I have no tolerance for ‘they made poor choices’. Just like the crying libs edgelord memes on the DT Musk thread, picking a few examples of extreme ‘garbage degree loans’ doesn’t speak to that class as a whole, it just makes you look like a dumbass. The system is broken.

  10. Ordinarily, nobody should care that a homosexual is in the closet, because a person's sexuality is their own private matter, and when to come out should be a person's own choice that, even in 2022, is still fraught with peril and fear. But when a closeted homosexual is an elected official and a member of a political party that has consistently pursued the establishment of laws, policies, and general social behavior to discriminate against and degradate the LGBTQ population, then yeah, I fucking care that a closeted homosexual is living a double, and hypocritical, life. I say that not knowing Cawthorn's public stance or voting record when it comes to LGBTQ issues, but there have been several elected Republican officials in the past who were outed as gay after a career of opposing gay rights. If you've never seen the HBO documentary Outrage, I recommend it. Now, fucking a staffer, gay or straight, is a whole other matter, and I enjoy watching that one play out.

  14. I am sure Mathis is ready to take your offer. Swing him to Texas with your money. Mathis is an upgrade of what we have. It is a need, no doubt. He is also a bit of an unknown regarding performance as he has only one season as a solid performer. He was an entitled shit this past season and it showed in his performance. If Nebraska wants to money whip him, and that is all he cares about, then let him walk. That doesn't give me confidence he is ready to take his performance to another level. Don't forget, he has decided to take the whole Spring off, which is another negative. It hurts to lose him. But, I don't see Mathis as somebody we need to reset the NIL floor to attract. 650k+, no thanks. We have all the money in the world. That doesn't mean it is sensible to money whip every transfer candidate who might be interesting to surly desperations.

  22. The problem is that has never happened in my lifetime when republicans have been in charge. It is always tax cuts *and* increased spending with your boys. They just spend the money to further enrich their backers Of course you prefer tax cuts because they put more money in your pocket. You don’t like increased spending because it likely won’t be spent directly on you.

  24. Do you ever get any point? You seem to comb a post for the dumbest interpretation available. The line you quote illustrates the necessity of having a degree if you hope to get a job in a specific environment outside of being a plant hand. You would evidently hire the plant hand with a college degree over one who doesn't. Thus, even a qualified plant hand would feel pressure to spend money on a college degree that isn't really required to do the job being sought. That's. My. Point. You. Tiresome. Ignoramus.

  25. HR and the resultant keyword hiring practices are one of the biggest blights on corporate efficiency in the last 50 years. I can't count the number of times I had really qualified applicants rejected before their resumes ever crossed my desk because of some T that didn't get crossed. It's maddening.

  30. Since all these loons can get elected to office I am considering making a run myself. I will run as a Republican and my trademark will be the guy that says weird shit nobody understands. Most of my phrases will be from Surly. During debates expect to hear "Muledick" a lot. When pressed for an answer my reply will be "PM Derka". When another candidate mentions his wife I will say "Pics or get the fuck out!" Then follow up with "Rules, mother fucker." As long as I blame Socialist Islamic Atheist Queer Dark Skinned Pedophiles running the Deep State I think I might be able to pull it off.
