Card and Notre Dame were serious as a pairing until ND tried to force the transfer before he was sure. That’s from someone who knows the family. @Longhorn94 can confirm or dispute for fact checking. I guess you could say that Card was … late in his decision-making.36 points

Hey I earned a neg from Globalwarming2478, whose first post was a ‘take it to the CR’ with -26 rep. Pissing off a sock makes me feel big time around here. And yeah I’m tired of old, mostly white, all cranky bastards telling me that I can’t buy booze on Sunday or weed at all, what my wife and daughter can’t do with their body, limiting how people can vote, shipping unsuspecting immigrants to a frozen Washington, ensuring our state is saturated with guns, courting rich lunatics like Elon, fucking up the power grid and generally trying to enforce their worldview on the rest of us while parroting ‘freedom of speech’. So fuck your neg in the globally-warmed goat ass. This guy has gone the way of Ted Nugent / Randy Quaid / etc but with a much larger audience of apparently angry, diehard, motivated fanbois who lately have a shit track record for actually instigating real world violence. Connecting those folks to yet more ‘anti woke’ fodder from grumpy old wrinkled asshats pisses me off.21 points

Got this yesterday from my boys for Christmas. They came up with the idea on their own and had it custom-made. So awesome. They get me. Nice. Little misty in here ...16 points

So the wife asks me if any co-workers gave me a Christmas gift. Me: I got a box of really good toffee, I'll bring it home next time I go in. Her: *makes a face* well that's weird. Seems like an odd gift. Me; No, not really, I got some before- it's really good. Her: Doesn't that hurt your teeth? Me: I guess it can?? I come home with the toffee, open the box to give her some. Her: *gets that little kid look on her face, I know some Trixie shit is coming* Oh, THIS is toffee?? I thought it was pink and stretchy. Me: For fucks sake, that's Taffy.13 points

At this point, I’d bet almost anything that aggy hires an assistant from a CFP playoff team. They won’t be able to pull away one of the OCs, so they’ll pay ~$2 mil/year for a young position group coach (receivers coach, OL coach, etc.). That way, Jimbo can retain control and still change the narrative. Luicci: “I told y’all to be patient — Jimbo had to wait for the semis to end, but he got his guy. My sources say that Coach _______ had an outsized impact on TCU’s scheme and was key to Duggan’s development. With Coach _______ on staff, expect for Weigman to make a similar jump in Year 2.”11 points

Here's Olivia Nuzzi's new article in the New Yorker that has Trump not very happy. https://nymag.com/intelligencer/article/donald-trump-running-for-president-2024.html It's a long but decent read, though there's not anything new in it. It mostly just portrays him as pathetic and lonely. Here's my favorite bit:11 points

It's a future species where T-Rex genes are spliced with that of a Neanderthal. Note the T-Rex hands and forearms. The eyes are clearly geared to detect movement rather than light. Regular humanity is long gone. They took off from the surface in rockets to colonize one of the moons of Jupiter. Football has died except for at one little shithole on the new coast of Texas. Some primitive attachment to mindless tradition has kept a cult named the Aggies fielding teams every year. In the end, there was only one other such cult at a place called Wake Forest. For nearly a century they were the only teams left of college football. The Aggies either lost or forfeited to the Foresters every year, decade after decade. At last, Wake forest burned to the ground and the Foresters scattered across the remains of a continent. At long last, the Aggies were national champions. They cut down the remaining trees of the Big Thicket to build a Natty Fire. It toppled over and crashed into a wall of sacred Kyle Field which itself collapsed as the hybrid dinoAggies were swaying and singing about a team whose graduates had had the sense to abandon the dying Earth generations before. All that was left was this coach holding the trophy and a fifty year extension to his contract guaranteeing 10 million pelts, foreskins, jizz jars, and boots per year to keep the Aggie Natty Streak alive.9 points

A big problem with the SWA system is the gamesmanship. Saving seats, F5-ing the check-in screen 24 hours before boarding, and dubious preboards. I get it for folks who have a legit disability. No issue there. But on SWA, if you’re skittish or shameless, you can board and choose your preferred seat before all the people who paid 2x for priority. Bonus points if you bring along a lapdog in one of those “Emotional Support Animal” harnesses. We all have problems, Snowflake. Board with the riffraff and self-medicate with booze like the rest of us do.9 points
