Gary Patterson's convo with FCB about attending the National Championship tonight and if he will return to Texas next year βItβs a veteran team,β Patterson told Horns247 on Sunday. βThe average age of TCUβs starters is closer to 23, whereas our startersβ average age at Texas this past season was closer to 19. That makes a big difference.β Patterson, who had a statue dedicated to him on the TCU campus in 2016, was fired during the 2021 season, finishing his time in Fort Worth with a 181-79 record (a .696 winning percentage). βSome people think I went to work at Texas out of spite for TCU,β Patterson said. βBut that wasnβt it. I just needed to get away.β Patterson compared it to someone who gets divorced and needs to move out from the same house as their ex. βIf I went to work in the (TCU) chancellorβs office right after being let go, I think that wouldβve been awkward,β Patterson said. When I asked Patterson if heβll remain as a special assistant to Sarkisian at Texas, he said, βI might. I really like Steve (Sarkisian), and I was a sponge. I think I learned more than I gave out.β Patterson said heβll take his time before deciding any next steps. βAfter getting let go at TCU, I started working at Texas in January,β Patterson said. βSo, Kelsey and I didnβt really take any time for ourselves. Weβre doing that right now, even taking this trip to California. Iβve never had a bowl experience as a spectator. This is new.β Patterson said itβs βbittersweetβ to see TCU having a chance to win the national title one year after being let go as the Horned Frogsβ coach. But he said he and his wife, Kelsey, a Texas graduate, didnβt hesitate about making plans to attend the championship game against Georgia at Sofi Stadium Monday night at 6:30 pm CT βKelsey and I didnβt want to be a distraction,β Patterson said. βBut a lot of these players were a big part of our lives, so it was the right thing to do for us to come out here and support them. Theyβve put in a lot of work, and Iβm happy for them.β18 points

I remember this part of my journey down the rabbit hole heading into the 2010's. It's the "our new guys are better than our starters that they're replacing because it's always onwards and upwards with this program!" part of the timeline. It's almost comical to witness, and I am enjoying it. If you weren't a sooner, I'd probably pity you a little bit though. You guys are trapped in this spot where you don't fully grasp just how difficult it is to be as elite as your program was from 1999-2021. You think 2022 is an aberration and you absolutely have to believe that 2023 will be a return to the upper echelon of the sport. What you don't understand is that what you guys pulled wasn't easy, and it also didn't happen due to divine right. Maybe you do wind up upgrading all of the starter losses. I've seen y'all fellate Kanak as the second coming of Teddy Lehman since last Feb. We'll see. From this end, it looks like a bad coaching staff doing really stupid shit and expecting amazing results. I'm fascinated that this guy's return is viewed as this big positive for the ATM program. Never mind the rape aspect and it is still bizarre. He's as jaggy a jagger as any JAG has ever been. He has injury issues and he'll be gumming up opportunities for younger talent to see playing time. But, hey, he's a redass, so whoop!16 points

Also, as to the bolded......the Troll earns this gif: Because, umm, as of the last figures (about 45 days ago)......guess what? The EU, as both the EU entity and as its member nations plus the UK (so, including non-US NATO nations) has spent a good chunk more than the US in aid to Ukraine. The US was at about $51 billion. The EU, member nations, and the UK? Around $57 billion. And as a percentage of GDP? Where do you think the US ranks among nations that have contributed to Ukraine? TENTH. So, congrats, troll -- the US is ALREADY following your "the US shouldn't fund more than the EU does" plan. In FACT, we have room to EXPAND our support. You fucking dumbfuck trolls are bad at everything, including math.13 points

don't forget that both his parents went to A&M, met at A&M and he is a huge A&M fan. i have posted it a bunch but basically: dude camped at A&M more than anywhere else trying to get an offer A&M went big game hunting at QB...missed on everyone. Novosad commits to Baylor Novosad re opens his commitment, gets an offer from tOSU and ND (i think he reopened after these offers) - A&M offers AFTER tOSU and Stanford!!! Novosad takes an UOV to A&M for their big recruitment weekend in late July. A&M pays to get Malachi Nelson on site the same weekend - thinking they can flip a guy Lincoln Riley has been personally recruiting for 3+ years, identified as his guy when he was early in high school and who has been committed to Riley for a year and change at OU and USC. Novosad re-affirms commitment to Baylor A&M keeps looking for QB commits...and doesn't get any until right before NSD so to be clear here: A&M had a legacy from both parents, he shows pigs, they needed QB help in the class, he camped there more than ANYWHERE ELSE...and A&M offers him after Stanford, Ohio State and a little before Notre Dame.11 points

Do you think we have such a massive fucking navy and such an advanced air force because we think they look cool? We have them in part because after WWII, we realized that we need as stable of an overall world as possible for American businesses to thrive around the globe, and we didn't want another world war (which would have been the second after the War to end War. While I'm oversimplifying, our larger conflicts such as Korea and Vietnam (and our lesser ones in the Americas) were in part because we thought that if we didn't slow down the commies in those places, large areas would end up falling, or we would eventually tangle with the Soviets. Sure, we like to pretend we were defending freedom, but it was much economic as anything else (and not markets for our military toys, but actual markets that we buy resources from and sell finished goods to). The US needs stability in Europe and Asia (and the Middle East and South America) in order for our own economy to function as relatively well as it does - We are the EU's largest trading partner. Instability in Europe fucks with our markets, and if the Russians aren't stopped in Ukraine, then I believe Putin and his mouthpieces when they say they have plans for bordering countries such as Moldova, Poland, and the Baltics, and then instead of all of our teeth-gnashing over what weapons to send them, we are sending American men and women to die, as well as potentially escalating to actual nuclear war.11 points

Jermaine Burton left UGA for Bama after playing well for them in the Playoff. And my man you have seen offenses that are abortions (Heard, Swoopes, early Buechele). Ours is decent, and would get mostly solved quickly with a WR that can catch a deep ball.10 points

Iβm well past the stage of over-thinking games and speculating about how a win by some other team would hypothetically and indirectly affect Texas. Texas just needs to worry about Texas. I have no hate toward TCU. They arenβt a major rival. I know a few TCU grads and they are good people. Other people have the opposite experience, whatever. The only teams I really hate are the Aggies, Sooners, and Baylor. Fuck all 3 of those every time all the time. Every other Big 12 team isβ¦ meh, whatever. Seeing TCU win wouldnβt bother me at all. Seeing Georgia lose would make me smile. Iβd enjoy hearing the all the inbred SEC homers bitching about it afterward. Easy choice for me, no need to involve a bunch of βwhat-aboutsβ related to how it all affects Texas. I just look at this game on its own. Go Frogs. Doubt they win though.10 points

I'd toss in that if we don't support Ukraine against Russia, that's 10% of the world wheat market (40% of the World Food Program's wheat distribution), 15% of the corn market, and 13% of the barley market, that we are handing over to Russia. That means Russia would control 30% of the world's wheat, 20% of the world's corn, and 60% of the world's sunflower oil. Earl bitches when his food goes up a bit in price, and giving Russia control over 30% of the world's wheat and 20% of the world's corn is going to mean that Earl is paying a shitload more. And it's going to fuck with American markets, which will fuck Earl's 401(k). And it's going to cause food instability in Central/South America, which is going to send more brown people to the American border, which Earl will incorrectly blame whoever Fox News tells him to. And it's going to cause food instability in Africa and Asia, that will also fuck with American investments and markets, that also fucks Earl's 401(k).10 points
