  2. I mean they are right about Texas ruining the SEC, if Texas wasn’t joining the SEC A&M wouldn’t have had to leak the move to the press and completely blow up the SEC well laid plans of playoff expansion, media deals and conference realignment and pissoff the SEC main office and all the other conferences members. If Texas wasn’t joining the SEC they wouldn’t need to massively overpay for the 2022 recruiting class and spit in the face of every coaching staff in the SEC. If Texas wasn’t joining the SEC, A&M wouldn’t be throwing a bitch fit and trying to duck Texas with advocating for a 1-8 conference schedule that is opposed by all the power programs and ESPN, and they wouldn’t be openly talking about hosting a home game for a conference schedule that’s hasn’t been decided yet. If it wasn’t for Texas, A&M wouldn’t be the insane person making a complete ass of themselves and becoming universally despised by everyone involved.

  5. All of this is certainly possible, but I don't think how it will play out for a few reasons. 1. Putin can ill afford to lose Crimea, really under any circumstance. Losing Crimea = certain death for him. He won't give that back under any circumstance and will have his people fight to the death to keep it. I don't think there is any level of propaganda he could use to justify it's loss. If there is a hill to die on for him, it's Crimea. 2. In so far as the Donbas is concerned, he could easily make the propagandized claim that it has been de-nazied and leave. The general Russian population could be convinced of this and it could be sold as a security victory/mission accomplished bullshit. They'd buy it. That having been said, he's shown absolutely no interest in doing so thus far, and there is nothing that indicates he has any intention of changing his mind. 3. I do think Melitopol is Ukraine's next move, which if successful will further isolate Crimea and will allow the retaking of all of Kherson Oblast, as well as Zaporizhzhia Oblast, including Mariupol. While this would reestablish pre 2022 invasion territory, if you are Ukraine, how could you agree to stop there? You would have them on the run and the goal of reestablishing pre 2014 borders would be within site. Given the horror that the Ukrainian people have been subjected to, the human loss, and all the other sacrifices made, how could you justify stopping when you would be that close to total victory? I think you are correct in asserting that international pressure will be brought to bear to get this to stop at the point, if I am Ukrainian, I'm not listening. I'd press on as long as possible to reclaim what is rightly theirs. I keep seeing where the Russian propagandist are saying that we (the west, and they specifically point out the US) are after the destruction of them and their culture. I'd argue that at this point, we should be after the destruction of their way of life. I can appreciate the artistry and ability of some of the things done in Russia, and I have no desire to have any of that destroyed. But in so far as the destruction of their elite Russian beliefs, I'm all for it. At this point, it seems this is a society in need of post ww2 German style humility, to the point of it being so humbling that the idea of creating an offensive force is blasphemy in their society. The only way this happens is with a complete dismantling of their current style of life and destruction of the propaganda machine that feeds it. For things to really change, a complete humiliation on a battlefield isn't enough, a complete dismantling of their current society is necessary. Otherwise, see you in a few years dealing with this same sort of crap, in Ukraine or somewhere else they think they can easily terrorize and get away with it. How do we do this, I don't know. What I do know, is that if we stop at half measures on this, we will still have the same problem and be back at square one before you know it.

  7. This is so true. It takes so much more than just sticking around, and it takes so much more than boring dad lectures. My high school aged kids are bombarded with all kinds of toxic personalities, both male & female, on social media and with in-person social situations. Then there’s the ever escalating political rhetoric and associated social fallout from all of this toxic tribalism. Modeling desirable and appropriate values, behavior, healthy relationships, strength & compromise in handling conflict resolution, empathy, self-care, service, etc, for my kids has always been important to me, but even more urgently these days. Being a “walk it like you talk it” positive male role model and dad is very mindful and deliberate. I won’t let my son become enamored with and emulate “men” like Cobra Tate and other self-described “alphas” of his ilk, and my daughter understands her worth and already has very high standards for the kind of young men she’ll allow in her social circle. My kids came out of a heartbreaking and rage-inducing situation of horrific abuse and neglect prior to me adopting them out of the foster care system. I’m fortunate and grateful that they acknowledge and appreciate my active parenting and the structure, safety, and stability I’ve provided. There have been rough patches, but I imagine there are different challenges parenting kids who have only known safety, security, and a loving home. I guess all of us have to fight to keep them from getting soft, spoiled, and susceptible to negative influence. Kinda TLDR version - The fight against the influence of these toxic morons is a deliberate commitment that doesn’t get won with fatherly advice alone. Be about it.

  22. The thing that frustrates me the most about this debate is the same thing that frustrates me about the gun debate: there is no doubt whatever that most of these people would completely change their town if it happened to their kid. If their daughter was killed in a school shooting, or it was their son struggling with his sexuality or identity, their positions would flip overnight. I know it. You know it. Hell, deep down, they know it. But, since it's not, they don't care. Just no ability to empathize with any human being outside of their own roof. Kinda sad really.

Every Texas t-shirt fan is an explicit reminder that Texas is seen as superior to aggy by the majority of people, which hurts their little feelings all to hell. Poooor aggys.
