  1. Right? We need to own this shit and then insist that we be introduced at SEC media days like a Game of Thrones character. The University of Texas, First of Its Name, Sipper of Tea, the Orange Burnt, Father of Realignment, Destroyer of Conferences, Breaker of Grants of Rights, Controller of Media, Puppet Master of the NCAA and King of NIL.

  3. This... is... absolutely.. marvelous. Texas using the NCAA to attack NIL, when we are on the forefront of legitimate NIL. Those idiots still have no idea what real NIL is.

  4. Only posting this because I was the driver of the Bronco. It was definitely a holy shit moment. Fuck this guy. I never saw him. I didn’t even see my light turn from red to green, that’s how long his red light was stale. He went to the hospital after the wreck but the cops better have drawn his blood. I miraculously walked away with nothing more than bruises and scrapes. Even luckier that my wife and kids weren’t in the car, because it’s a different story if they were. IMG_5037.MOV

  6. In regard to picking on lawyers, I was talking in a group of dads that didn't really know each other well. A guy mentions that the new LL team's coach is a doctor and I said, "Oh, man. I've been thinking he was a lawyer for the past couple of years. I guess I can respect the guy now." Clearly joking. One of the other guys gets pissed off and starts extolling the virtues of what lawyers bring to society. Whoops. I told him the only thing worse than a lawyer was a lawyer without a sense of humor. He stormed off. The rest of us laughed though.

  7. To summarize Bow: 1. Yes, I know the defender held an eligible receiver running a route in the secondary 2. Yes I know it turned out to be the intended target of the pass. 3. Yes I see the still frame of the jersey sticking out proving the hold. I get that this is a way refs are trained to identify holding. 4. Yes I know the refs saw the foul and flagged it. 5. Yes I know the defender admitted unequivocally he was holding. 6. Yes I know the defender knows holding is a penalty but did it anyway to try to impede the rout, hoping to get away with it and influence the game. 7. Yes I know an improvised play when timing is off is more susceptible to error. 8. Yes I know defensive holding is holding before the pass and thus is not penalized based on its EFFECT, even when the player held is never considered for a target. 9. Yes I know it rewards and encourages rule-breaking and conspiracy theories to ignore penalties. 10. I have judged the style of this hold unworthy of a flag, based on my vast expertise of skiing technique. I also think Jimbo would never have put his team in such a vulnerable position. That’s why he’s got a natty.

  16. This. Franco didn't like Hitler, Hitler didn't like Mussolini, and none of them liked Hirohito. But they stuck together because each of them needed from their collective. Horthy of Hungary was a fascist in league with them, as were Antonescu of Romania, Tuka (the holocaust enabler for much of Eastern Europe) of Slovakia, Pavelic of Croatia, and a few others during WWII. Thankfully, most of these guys had the decency to either kill themselves or were assassinated. I doubt ours will afford us the same respect. In other news, a very high level and in-depth look at the War in Ukraine after one year. Professor Dubovyk (director of Center for International Studies at Mechnikov University in Ukraine) will be speaking (via Zoom) to UT's Clements Center and all of the UT-Austin community is invited to virtually attend (22 February). See link below: https://utexas.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJckce2qrT8uHNTsjwEdEXRSDQOOCgAuC4Va This is a really impressive "behind the curtain" look at what's going on there. I'll repost as it gets closer.

  20. The argument that they should not call less blatant penalties at the end of a game is the worst opinion in sports, perhaps second only to an opinion that Oklahoma doesn't suck. The rule book does not say anything about different levels of penalties at the end of a close game, and calling it that way is intentionally rewarding the team that is willing to cheat more.

  22. For me, it's Black, Williams, Simmons, Corian Gipson, and Cruz. Those are 5 difference makers that everybody wants. Good luck getting 3 of the 5. Texas leads with one of them right now. On Hudson - WR is one of the deep spots in the state and he's not head and shoulders better than the next 5 or so guys. Someone who knows their stuff on this kind of thing better than damned near anyone else, after watching him recently in-person, wants to see how he tests at camps. His view is that he bets the player gets advice not to actually test at camps. Make of that what you will. On Umeozulu - This recruitment is almost as much out of obligation as it is any kind of enthusiasm. Think the "wait" gif from Willie Wonka movie if this guy winds up committing somewhere else. On Black and Williams, Texas has a shot, but they're not lifelong fans who can't wait to get to campus. Black wants someone to tell him he's going to be a starter when he gets on campus. Texas isn't going to do that and he's not good enough to get that guarantee from most schools, but Oregon, Baylor or Oklahoma State might put that out there. Williams isn't from Texas. He's basically a silent to Oregon, but there are issues with conference alignment and distance for those around him. Tosh Lupoi is all over him and the HS staff or a handler around Oak Ridge has some sort of affinity for Oregon. Simmons is pure NIL and this could be one where someone concentrates a shit ton of their allocation to land him. LSU, ATM, and Bama do not have endless funds. I feel like this one will not come close to going UT's way, but there's still a ton of time for things to change. Gipson is somone Bama legitimately would take, allegedly. I think Texas has a great shot here, but it's going to be a fight. Cruz - They just have to keep putting in the work and lock him up in June.

  33. The t-shirt fans annoy them because they (t-shirt fans) are not affiliated with either school directly, and thus choose Texas over aggy purely on unbiased merit. Every Texas t-shirt fan is an explicit reminder that Texas is seen as superior to aggy by the majority of people, which hurts their little feelings all to hell. Poooor aggys.
