  1. FWIW, I would now argue that there is a decent chance that Robinson enrolls at Texas in June. I don't think I would take even odds or anything, but I'll take Texas over anyone else as it stands now. Should be fun to watch.

  8. as someone who was the last holdout on a guilty verdict iin a jury room, it takes more than an idiot to hang a jury. it takes a brave person. i only held out as long as i did because i just wanted to make sure that the prosecution covered all the bases. we ended up doing right in the end, but i'm not sending a guy away for life without asking a few questions.

  12. No clue what Nahlin wrote, but having listened to the plan and approach with recruits and big recruiting weekends, Texas highlights that it has a great NIL program without breaking anything down in the beginning. They then focus on the benefits of the program, university, network, etc. They're also focused on relationship building and where they envision the player on the roster and within the scheme. Then, when it is time to close or make their best case, they highlight the NIL program, for players on campus, in detail. Other schools are going to NIL first and staying on it, making promises that they may or may not be able to live up to once the player gets on campus. There are numerous programs that have been talking big but aren't living up to promises once players are actually on campus. Word is getting around on many of these programs, USC included. That is not a Texas problem.

  18. That is fucking hilarious. The entire scenario points to a bigger truth. Before the war, we heard from tankies and fascists β€œimagine how the U.S. would react if Mexico and Canada invited Russian or a Chinese forces to be stationed there.” And that’s a stupid counter-factual and a better question is β€œwhy don’t Canada or Mexico feel the need to seek security guarantees? Why do Mexico and Canada have such tiny military budgets given their position next to a massive superpower?”

  20. This is fucking bullshit and it smells to me like an info-op from some people inside the Kremlin or close to it who are thinking how to get of sanctions. The U.S. for MONTHS made noise about the build-up, you had OSINT tracking military movement. I mean, you had Kremlin official outlets going to Twitter to accuse the U.S. of warmongering, insisting it was all just an exercise, and swearing no invasion was coming. I won’t deny that it was a tiny circle to draw up the ops plans, but this is bullshit to say that no one could have known what’s up until the announcement. The gotdamn President of the United States told them all it was coming.

  21. To be clear, TOF agrees. The people donating $5/month to $5k/year are vital to make this thing become the machine we all want. The $5k-$50k/year are also critical. The DFW event, however for this time, was requested by a group guaranteeing a minimum of a large number. There will be more to come in DFW later this spring. I am pretty skeptical personally about the value of the first DFW meeting, but we’ll see. The Houston event already looks like immediate dividends are large and so is the new interest from previous fallow fields.

  31. I'm not sure how you managed to totally miss the issue here. Odd time to pop a personal-responsibility boner. Cops are arresting and charging kids with felonies when they're not even breaking the law, but boo fucking hoo because these kids knew they were violating school policy, right? Hey, I know, let's arrest every school rule breaker and charge 'em with felonies. The charges won't stick but maybe it'll learn 'em to not break school rules next time! Only a stupid idiot teenager would violate school rules! Cheat on a test, prepare for arrest. No hall pass, cops got your ass.

  34. Mexico used to have a bunch of American nuclear weapons on its soil. Then the United Stated signed a treaty that said we promise to guarantee Mexico's security in exchange for the return of those weapons. Then, 20 years later, the United States annexed Baja California by force and propped up separatists who created defacto breakaway states in Chihuahua and Coahuila. American politicians and media started talking a lot about how Mexico isn't a real country and that anyone who intervenes in US-Mexico affairs should get a nuke thrown at them. Needless to say, this all made Mexico a little nervous and the Mexican people and government started feeling like they might be better off being friends with China instead of the US. Clearly this is all Mexico and China's fault.

  39. Texas high schoolers caught with legal delta 8 vape pens sold at gas stations are getting arrested because the cops can't determine whether the juice contains the legal or illegal form of THC. When in doubt about whether a teenager's conduct is even illegal, I reckon it's always best to arrest them, suspend them from school, and generally try to fuck up their lives with a felony charge. Possible cause is the new probable cause in Texas. https://www.texastribune.org/2023/02/22/texas-delta-8-marijuana-hemp-arrests/
