  1. A guy that played for years in the NFL was at practice yesterday. His takeaway was that if this team isn’t a playoff contender and conference winner, it took effort to fuck it up on gameday.

  2. The 2023 recruiting class has everyone giddy early on. All of the highly rated guys look great. That said, they apparently like what they’re seeing all the way down the line.

  3. Nope. This team’s floor is too high for there to be any heat. I’ve said this consistently on here for years - Sarkisian is getting a fourth year. There is too much turnover fatigue. They love the roster work that has happened now and everybody really likes the guy. The staff is solid and the lockerroom isn’t full of a bunch of shitheads. Sarkisian has done everything right but win big so far and it’s only been two years. Anyone saying Sarkisian could be on the hot seat is an outsider, or knows something we don’t about off the field issues, or they can see the future and know that somehow this team staggers to 7-5 or something.

  5. The defensive staff legit believes they have hit on everybody in the 23. If you ever get to hear Choate talk about the Hawaii linebacker it’s as if he is the next Ray Lewis.

  6. Bobby had this to say about 5 stars under Sark so far I went to fact check and hit him with an "akshually..." but those are actually all the guys that were 5 stars either by the On3 rankings or the On3 composite. All have played and shown promise. Let's take out Ewers and only look at Worthy, Sanders, Banks, Campbell, and Brooks since those are the guys that signed with us out of high school and entered the program as freshmen. Sanders is the only one that didn't play notable non-ST snaps as a freshman. 2/5 were immediate starters (one each season) and another 2/5 were in the two-deep their first year. 5/5 will start this year and at least 3/5 will be all-conference. Those three will be early NFL draft picks after their third years. Campbell and Brooks could conceivably join them. Through his first three cycles, Sark has increased the number of 5 stars he signed by one each year: two in '21, three in '22, four in '23. Let's look at the '23 class. 3/4 are likely contributors while Manning's snap count is TBD and Hill is a likely starter (imo). The rate of early contributors remains high. Meanwhile, there is again one starter even though the total number of 5 stars increases (1/2 started in '21, 1/3 in '22, 1/4 in '23). That's also a good sign. Those that are drinking the crootin koolaid will say that Sark might continue the +1 trend in the '24 class. Simmons, Baker, McKinley, Wingo, and Black currently qualify and Mack will earn his fifth star in the On3 rankings if he holdings onto his #19 spot with them. It's premature to believe that we will land five of those, but four would be a good haul. The hit rate on five stars being early contributors, stars, NFL guys, etc. at this level isn't sustainable; Sark is quite literally batting 1.000 (if I might be a bit presumptuous on Arch Manning's behalf - but also he's a three star with a different last name so we don't have to count him anyway). The hit rate for five stars should be high, of course, but not having a single miss our of nine is impressive. That speaks to the mental evals, at least in part. If Sark does ultimately get this thing turned around in the next couple years, this staff's ability to land enough top talent early on and maximize that talent will be a big reason why. A couple lucky bounces on the trail helps of course. But once you've got the ball rolling, you don't need luck anymore.

  7. Because in a world where your employer controls how much healthcare you have access to, workers have been conditioned to kowtow to every demand their employers throw at them. Even to their immediate detriment. And an almost due mother in Texas definitely has good reason to fear losing her healthcare. God bless America. May our costs be forever down and profits forever up.

  10. First, even as a guard, you aren't just walking your happy ass out of a prison. There is a process, at any point of which her supervisor can turn her around. Second, do you want prison guards just leaving their posts without relief? That seems like a bad precedent to me. Last, as has been pointed out, if she just walks out, she loses her job and healthcare. If she had done as you suggest and successfully given birth, as a newly fired new mother, what do you think her chances of getting another job with healthcare coverage are? If she had great job prospects, she wouldn't be working as an underpaid prison guard in a chronically understaffed prison system. Not all jobs are jobs that you can just walk out of, and not everyone has the prospects to just walk off of even the jobs where that's possible.

  39. No poe, I'm not miserable. I know you really, really, really want to be right on that, like all you people do. You're wrong, yet again. I'm currently sitting in a suite at the Cosmopolitan and about to get a steak dinner at Wynn (or a badass Mexican restaurant off strip--can't decide) before free drinks at Resorts World. Why would I be miserable? That's the problem with you people--you equate real world problems with minorities as them being miserable. While you want it to be true so badly, it's just not. Just go to any Black cookout. I can enjoy my life and be happy and also fight for justice for what is happening to Blacks as it is wrong and unAmerican. Those things are not mutually exclusive, and communicating to you and your people that yes, this are things that still happen to Black people in America and we need to fix them doesn't mean our lives are miserable. I'm so sorry Poe that you had to grow up around people and in a household that taught you that if you aren't grateful for x that must only then mean you are miserable and hate your life. That line of thinking, unfortunately, comes from generations of hurt and trauma that your family and people bestowed upon you that you're now about to bestow upon your own children (which I also feel very sorry for and they'll be on my prayer list).
