  1. Fong with some updates In the Steve Sarkisian era at Texas, the Longhorns have seemed to win more blue-chip recruiting battles on the trail than they’ve lost, the latest beating rival Oklahoma for Allen (Texas) High four-star edge rusher Zina Umeozulu. One they did lose this cycle was Lancaster (Texas) High Top247 cornerback Corian Gipson, who announced for Clemson in July. I’m not so sure that one is completely over and I’ll keep an eye on the Longhorns for the coveted in-state defensive back moving forward. As we’ve reported in the past, St. Louis (Mo.) University five-star receiver Ryan Wingo is planning to come back to Austin for the Wyoming game next Saturday night. I logged a 247Sports Crystal Ball in favor of the Longhorns following a June swing of official visits which included the Longhorns. There have been times where Missouri has seemed to grab momentum, but there is still a lot of confidence around Austin they’ll ultimately land Wingo, and buzz around the Wingo camp remains very excited about Sarkisian and the program as well. I'm glad I've stuck with my pick. With a decision coming on the horizon, I still like Texas’s position for top-ranked offensive tackle Brandon Baker. And I love my prediction in favor of the Longhorns for in-state five-star cornerback Kobe Black.

  4. Hudson committed to Tech on his official visit. The Tech staff is actually getting frustrated that he hasn’t gone public. IF Texas wins Saturday they have a list of recruits who they will be hitting up immediately, like coaches calling kids from the locker room. Could make for some interesting turns in some recruitments we thought were done.

  5. During our call, @Netanyahu and I discussed how to ensure that the visa-free functions fully for Ukrainian citizens, as well as how to secure the safety of Hasidic Jews on their yearly pilgrimage to Uman. Ukraine has always warmly welcomed pilgrims and took responsibility for their safety. Given the threat of Russian missiles and Iranian drones, this year’s pilgrimage comes with high security risks. Our bomb shelters have a capacity for around 11 thousand people. Swift joint action is required to ensure the safety of more people. We also discussed ways for Israel to support Ukraine in countering Russian aggression, as well as the international cooperation between our states.

  6. Here we go again Texas vs Bama Part Deux but this time we are rolling into the hostile territory of Bryant Denny Stadium. Last year at this time we were 20 point dogs and didn’t stand a chance against Saban as he and his 5 star fueled Death Star came to Austin. This team included 3 first rounders and 8 total picks in the first 2 days of the 2023 draft but they needed to yet again injure a Texas QB and get some Big 12 ref magic to squeak out a 1 point victory. Was this a case of Saban slipping a little bit or was Texas and Steve Sarkisian finally pulling out of their decades of mediocrity? Based on how each team finished the season it seems like more of the former as Bama lost to Tennessee for the first time in Saban’s tenure while LSU and the fighting Kelly’s beat them in an OT mid-off. During this time Texas finished 7-4 with a couple of big wins and a couple embarrassing losses. To pull off the biggest win in years Texas has to do to buck the following trends: 1. Texas mediocrity: For the past 13 years Texas has been the laughingstock of CFB and failed to live up to expectations exactly once (2018) but even then lost 4 games including a laugher to Maryland. Can Texas finally win a monster on the road and officially claim to be back for good? 2. Sevin Win Sark: Out of his 7 full seasons as a head coach Sark has won more than 7 games only 3 times. Even his biggest backers here couldn’t name a matchup of this magnitude that he has coached his team to a win in. Will he be able to finally get a big win on the road and a new nickname by years end? 3. Saban’s Dominance at Home: Saban at Alabama has won 103 and lost just 8 games at home since taking over in 2007. The current streak sits at 21 games since a team last walked out of Tuscaloosa with a win. Has Saban finally jumped the shark All the daunting trends and statistics aside here is why Texas is going to shut up all of the talking heads and pull out a dominating victory in Tuscaloosa: 1. We’re fucking Texas: Other fanbases and media will laugh at the notion that the Texas decal on the helmet means anything but disappointment but since the beginning of time Texas has dared to play big games and more often than not came out ahead. Texas has a winning record against every other Blue Blood except USC and ND. If you exclude the annual matchup with OU the total record is 25-21. But what about on the road you ask? Texas in 9-8 in true road games against the non OU Blue Bloods. No University of Texas player, coach, or fan is going to be fazed by the atmosphere, this type of game is why you choose the University of Texas. 2. Saban’s Swan Song: It is no secret that Alabama has lost their CFB throne to Georgia over the last 2 seasons but they are still 1B in the CFB pecking order. Saban has built up a lot of trust in his program to warrant the #3 ranking in a year when they lost a Heisman QB, all world defender, and do it all RB. Recruiting rankings suggest they just reloaded and will keep rolling but this is not your Uncle’s Alabama. To replace Bryce Young they tapped Jalen Milroe to assume the throne at QB despite their best efforts to buy an elite QB in the portal. If his game against the aggies is any indication than it will be a long night for Saban in Tuscaloosa. 3. Poetic Justice: Since that night at the Rose Bowl Texas has coveted a seat at the table that they once had a standing reservation at. Year after year we have had to sit by and watch an Alabama dynasty reel off championship after championship that was propelled by an injury to a Texas QB. Every dominant program has an alpha and omega when the world either knows you have arrived or that the end is near. In tandem the alpha and omega happened for Alabama and Texas on January 7th, 2010 while millions looked on. This Saturday will be the bookend moment for both of these programs as Texas beacons to the world that they are in fact back while leaving Alabama faithful wondering what will be next for their beloved program. The stars are aligned for a big night for the Horns in Tuscaloosa this weekend. Quinn has an opportunity to show us why he is the highest rated QB of all time and cement his legacy as a Texas QB. Sark is gunning to come full circle from wonderkid when he was hired at UW to a seasoned veteran HC with a career defining year. This team fucks and will prove it on the field in primetime. See yall in Tuscaloosa, I will be in U4-CC. Hook ‘em “The pride and winning tradition of The University of Texas will not be entrusted to the weak or the timid”

  11. "Two grenades at the window, two grenades at the door, and then you go in and finish off" - ex-mercenaries of Wagner PMC about Prigozhin’s criminal orders. Maksim Zelenov and Aleksey Chernyavsky are former prisoners who were recruited into the Wagner PMC last November. Together with other mercenaries, they were sent to clean up a village near Soledar in Donetsk region. Their command and Prigozhin himself gave criminal orders to the "Wagnerites" - to throw grenades at residential buildings and kill civilian women and children. After that, Maksim and Aleksey fled the PMC camp and hid for more than 8 months. Only after the death of Prigozhin they dared to tell the founder of Gulagu net resource, @Vlad_Osechkin, about these war crimes. UN 🇺🇳 IS NOT SURE IF THERE IS GENOCIDE IN 🇺🇦 Translation from Ukrainian: “IRPIN 🇺🇦: A Family: a man, a woman, three daughters 5, 8, 17 years old. 🇷🇺 settled in their house. The man was shot dead on the same day. They raped the woman, & then raped the children in front of her. Girls aged 5 and 8 died of rape & injuries. The woman and her daughter, 17 years old, survived, but are in serious condition in the hospital. —- GOSTOMEL 🇺🇦: A Family: a woman and a son of 16 years old. The son was shot dead. 15. A bit of a shift in tone... US intelligence believes that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will break through Russia's defenses by the end of the year. Trent Mol, director of analysis at the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency, said that the AFU will be able to break through all Russian defense lines in southern Ukraine by the end of the year. "If we were talking about this two weeks ago, I would have been a little more pessimistic. Their breakthrough through the second defense belt is actually quite significant," a U.S. intelligence officer told The Economist. According to Mol, two factors are critical to the success of the Defense Force: - The supply of ammunition needed for the artillery, which powers the advance; - the weather in the fall.

  18. My best (worst) cross-examination was early in my career....when a witness had completely skewered my client's story, backed up with photographic proof. After pondering what to do for what felt like an eternity, I fired off this piece of brilliance: Q: "So . . . are you calling my client a liar?" A: "Yes." [Looooooooooooong pause] Judge: "Mr. Brisket, you about done here?" "Yes. Yes I am." So, the lesson here is that when you have nothing to offer on cross.....sometimes shutting the fuck up is your best line of questioning.

  19. We finally received the official paper mail from the health insurance about the disapproval of next week’s exploratory procedure. J then called the doctor’s office (they received the same) to sort it all, but the lady there had already fixed it. Seems the doctor had made a typo in his submission request, so she sent the corrected form which was approved. After next week’s angiogram, they will then submit the form to do the actual valve implant. They said there will be no problem because my case is well into the necessary numbers for that procedure. (Provided the doctor enters no typos) So all is good in that department.

  20. If there's one lesson I've picked up from the shag / surly over the years, it's be prepared to back up your bullshit or be prepared to get fucking roasted alive in short order. That doesn't play well with a crowd whose receipts are often doctored TikTok clips and conspiracies involving Jewish space lasers. We're the bully's bully, so to speak.

  22. No it’s not. This is such whining bullshit. We are in September with a minuscule 1 game lead for the division and consistently are sitting 2 of our best offensive players for seemingly stupid reasons. Dusty and the org deserves to be called out. Because we should have a 5+ game lead except we don’t play our Death Star lineup every day and they should be called to task for that. “ooh swept the rangers, can’t criticize Dusty now!” Yes we can. And yes they should.

  27. Yeah, look— the demographic of people who fill college football stadiums across Texas and the south and Midwest is pretty squarely in the GOP targeting zone on everything from skin tone to income to hobbies. That’s just undeniable, at every stadium with obvious contour differences once you get a closer look. This place is different first because as an Aggie I have to admit that UT’s decades long reputation as a more liberal leaning institution is accurate. (That’s a good thing because conservatives stopped pretending in intellectual conservatism and just went with both barrels on lowest-common-denominator populism). Second, the community has always been intentionally about far more than the sports side of the house, the team is a common thread for most posters but you can easily just have a great time in LULZ, hobbies, and food/travel if so inclined. Finally, the limited moderation with the main rule “be an asshole, not a piece of shit” and crowd-sourcing of true idiots mean that yes— QAnon gets bounced fast.
