  1. So, 2034 then? I do not see why anyone would assume that ESPN would pay the SEC more for 9 games in 2025-2033 if they were not willing to pay more in 2024. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/30492065/sec-espn-strike-10-year-deal-college-football-basketball-starting-2024
  2. LOL - What on earth. I'm pretty sure Iowa State and Kansas State don't have medical schools. UT-Austin didn't have a medical school until recently (although there are obviously medical schools in the system).
  3. When it rains...
  4. NBC not exactly getting great games...
  5. I’m not sure your math is adding up.
  6. The last Tech game I went to was a few years ago on Thanksgiving and the stadium was not even close to full.
  7. So basically the TV money will still be split evenly, but if a team makes it to the playoff in football or does well in the NCAA tournament, that team will get more of the money from that postseason. It seems fair, but unlikely to make a big difference for any of the schools. I wonder how much the payout for playoff games vs. NCAA tournament games differs?
  8. Your last point is exactly what I was going to say when reading your previous post. The NCAA is not going to change it because team stroke play is confusing and hard to follow for fans. Match play is simple and easy and makes for better drama. To a lesser extent, it is the same thing with the basketball tournament. A 64 team single elimination tournament is not the best way to determine the best team in a given year, but it's really exciting.
  9. I think it’s because it’s fucking cold in the Midwest in November at night.
  10. Found the live stats: https://stats.statbroadcast.com/broadcast/?id=466755
  11. Any idea what conference Texas is likely to play in? I see that TCU is switching conferences from a conference with a couple of SEC teams in it to C-USA. https://www.frogsowar.com/2023/5/11/23720101/beach-volleyball-tcu-accepts-invitation-to-join-conference-usa?_gl=1*19s7mj8*
  12. So it will be No. 1 Texas vs. No. 5 UVA and No. 2 TCU vs. No. 3 tOSU.
  13. If you take into consideration the BTN differences, the Big Ten averages about $3 million more per school than the SEC. The $9 million figure is because four of the Big Ten schools are still getting significantly less money.
  14. On the list of reasons I am glad I didn't go to A&M, I don't think football cracks the top 10.
  15. 2021-2022 numbers are out for each conference: https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/college/2023/05/19/power-5-conferences-earnings-billions-2022/70235450007/
  16. I do not see any way that UConn would be interested in joining the Big 12 without football. I think football is the only way to get them to consider leaving the Big East.
  17. I think everyone knew that the media rights amounts would continue to go up, but likely did not know how much. ESPN payed way more (including the creation of the ACC Network) for the 25 year deal than they would have paid for a shorter deal. Their deal is not wholly out of line with what the Big 12 and Pac 12 are getting now. The ACC got overpaid at the start of the contract and is getting underpaid at the end, which is generally how long term contracts work. The problem is that SEC/Big Ten are getting way more now than anyone thought was likely a decade ago.
  18. https://www.si.com/college/2023/05/18/acc-split-reminder-college-sports-business-clemson-revenue Interesting mention of the copyright clause of the GOR.
  19. LOL at me learning, today, that College Station is further north than Austin... I guess because I associate it with the NW Houston suburbs, I just assumed it was further south.
  20. ESPN, Fox, CBS, NBC, Turner/TBS/TNT/Tru, CW, Ion, USA? ... I'm out, at least if we're only looking at networks that currently show some sports. I suppose it could be something out of left-field like WGN or something like that.
  21. Put some respect on his name - he was all-conference! That's right, he was on the All-GLIAC First Team! And yes, I had to look up what conference they are in.
