    ‘06?

Maybe his father loved coming to Austin and watching the Longhorns rip their hearts out... in the "Shoe"...at night.

Side note, my aggy MIL mae comments all day and night about how Texas had no shot to win let alone stay within 2 TDs in 2005. I cannot tell you how big my smile was when Limas caught that ball. Ear to Ear. 😁

OSU LBs were legit that day though. Toughest three we'd seen in a while.

KU is playing run all the way at this point

Negative Ghostrider. They should continue running the ball down their throats and score 3 more TDs. This tastes as good as beating Iowa St.

Duggan is better than the majority of QBs we've faced this season. Our pass defense is atrocious. Hoping for a miracle.

I agree and hope we see it Saturday night. I just can't see us winning this game with the D we have on the field. I feel like we can score on them, but I think if we win the game it will be a back and forth, last team with the ball type of game. Here's to upsetting the apple cart! 🤘

we didn't start complaining about the refs until we started sucking.

Pardon me, and I don't mean to be rude, but are you out of your mind? The Big XII have had the worst refs since it formed in 1996. It's been so bad for so long that opposing fan bases all understand what it means to have Big XII refs at their game. I'm not even talking about 2010 - present, go back to 1996, the early 2000's...Steve Usechek ring any bells?

Took the New Belgium tour a couple of weeks ago in Ft Collins, and the tour guide pulled a few cans of Voodoo Ranger Juice Force off of the canning line before they even got date stamped. Shit was damn good.  If thats the Voodoo Ranger offering they are selling, I'd second the recommendation. She mentioned NB has only been offering that for about 9 months, and its already their second best selling beer.

Can confirm how badass this beer is, as I’ve been drinking it at Texas Stars games since last season. 1 is good, and 2 is great. That 3rd one, though, will kick you in the dick. 😀

Back in the day I used to love trolling texags asking what channel the game would be on. It was amazing how many games they had that were not shown.

It was pretty sad back then. Even good matchups they had wouldn’t be shown over a shittier game. I kind of felt sad for them but it was fun to troll

I keep hearing this and it certainly makes it a challenge, but the $85 million is already committed.  It's a sunk cost that is budgeted, it's just a matter of timing on the payout.  "only" 25% has to be paid upon firing and then annual installments for the balance (at least that's what I've read).  Sure, it's tough to pay 25% up front, but they would have a way to raise the funds for the buyout and pay that portion back (plus interest) over time.   The decision is really whether they are willing to pay 2 coaches for the next 9 years.  Assuming they found a new coach at around $5m/yr, the incremental cost of firing Jimbo and bringing in someone new would be around $6m (I'm assuming around $1m year for interest on the payout).  It's an risky bet either way.  If you don't fire him soon, it might result in years of decline costing the program a lot more than the $6m/yr incremental to bring in someone new.  But if the new guy doesn't work out (50/50 at best), you'll be paying 3 coaches when you need to bring in the next savior.

The Jimbo contract (as I understand it) is really next level stupid on A&M's part.  The 10 year guarantee is nuts to begin with, but having to pay such a big chunk the day they fire him with no offset if he takes another job is just mind bending stupidity.  He can make significantly more $ over the next 9 years by getting fired now and sitting on the beach than he would if he stayed (because he can invest the buyout $).  If he gets another job, he get's that $ as well.  He's leaving millions on the table by not getting fired as soon as possible.  Based on his last couple press conferences, I can't believe he's trying to keep his job at this point.

    Maybe that’s what he’s doing?

That was the last year. The next year the natural grass went in and they stopped letting us on the field after that.

It seems like we went on the field at the end of every game back then, at least ones we won. Even when we tied Syracuse in 1993 we rushed the field. You would just kind of walk around and congratulate the players on the win...or the tie in some cases.

In the early-mid 80’s, at the end of every home game, they would let people down to the field. My brother and I used to get autographs after each game. Also used to take pictures riding Bevo after the games. 🤘🏼

I think a lot of us expect to lose out. Go 6-6 or 5-7 because that’s what has happened for years. We want this team to change our mind but then there goes tech and ok state. Same ole same. This team def has the talent to win out but we don’t expect it. We are battered man. We will still watch and cheer and gripe. Are we getting the Ewers who can hit anything with his eyes closed or the one who can’t even hit ‘em to save his life. Are we getting the worthy who tries or not. Are we bringing the run game the second half? We all know what the defense is.

Then recruiting is boring at the moment because we locked up most of them before the season so not much to see there. The only news is, some recruits may leave if we keep losing or some may leave regardless.

I maintain that it is this coaching staff that needs to learn how to win and not necessarily the players. New players, same results. I watch the first half of games completely calm and relaxed, but those second halves start up and my ass puckers more than my dog's when the doorbell rings. We need to get over that hump and start closing. Coffee is for closers. 🤘

Texas needs to prepare for lots of OSU Every Team going for it on 4th down a la TT.

    FIFY

That's going to be on the minds of every coach we play until we make stops. Here's to hoping that happens starting Saturday. 🤘

I don't disagree. I'm just saying the problems in the Tech game were different from the problems against ISU. Against Tech, we kept giving up long sustained drives, primarily driven by our failure to get stops on 4th down. Our defense was executing the plan up until 4th down. It sucked, but it wasn't the result of a complete failures in coverage. Against ISU, we suffered blown assignment after blown assignment.

I agree with that. I'm just bitter about those blown assignments. We need the D and O to be on point the rest of the season.
