Maybe his father loved coming to Austin and watching the Longhorns rip their hearts out... in the "Shoe"...at night.
Side note, my aggy MIL mae comments all day and night about how Texas had no shot to win let alone stay within 2 TDs in 2005. I cannot tell you how big my smile was when Limas caught that ball. Ear to Ear. 😁
OSU LBs were legit that day though. Toughest three we'd seen in a while.

What an absolute stupid tackle.
Such a waste of a game. -
Damn, one goal given up and our team starts the kickball bullshit. Settle it down and fucking play!

Negative Ghostrider. They should continue running the ball down their throats and score 3 more TDs. This tastes as good as beating Iowa St.

Duggan is better than the majority of QBs we've faced this season. Our pass defense is atrocious. Hoping for a miracle.
I agree and hope we see it Saturday night. I just can't see us winning this game with the D we have on the field. I feel like we can score on them, but I think if we win the game it will be a back and forth, last team with the ball type of game. Here's to upsetting the apple cart! 🤘

we didn't start complaining about the refs until we started sucking.
Pardon me, and I don't mean to be rude, but are you out of your mind? The Big XII have had the worst refs since it formed in 1996. It's been so bad for so long that opposing fan bases all understand what it means to have Big XII refs at their game. I'm not even talking about 2010 - present, go back to 1996, the early 2000's...Steve Usechek ring any bells?

The funny thing...for about 10 seconds, I believed our conference was dumb enough to do something like this.

Actually, probably a reference to Rick & Morty, specifically Mr. Meeseeks. LOOK AT ME!!!

Took the New Belgium tour a couple of weeks ago in Ft Collins, and the tour guide pulled a few cans of Voodoo Ranger Juice Force off of the canning line before they even got date stamped. Shit was damn good. If thats the Voodoo Ranger offering they are selling, I'd second the recommendation. She mentioned NB has only been offering that for about 9 months, and its already their second best selling beer.
Can confirm how badass this beer is, as I’ve been drinking it at Texas Stars games since last season. 1 is good, and 2 is great. That 3rd one, though, will kick you in the dick. 😀

We have a lot left to prove this season, but the flood gates of Aggy tears may burst if Texas goes 2-1 or 3-0 to finish the season. 🤘🏼

Back in the day I used to love trolling texags asking what channel the game would be on. It was amazing how many games they had that were not shown.

It was pretty sad back then. Even good matchups they had wouldn’t be shown over a shittier game. I kind of felt sad for them but it was fun to trollUsername checks out.
1 hour ago, blutow said:I keep hearing this and it certainly makes it a challenge, but the $85 million is already committed. It's a sunk cost that is budgeted, it's just a matter of timing on the payout. "only" 25% has to be paid upon firing and then annual installments for the balance (at least that's what I've read). Sure, it's tough to pay 25% up front, but they would have a way to raise the funds for the buyout and pay that portion back (plus interest) over time. The decision is really whether they are willing to pay 2 coaches for the next 9 years. Assuming they found a new coach at around $5m/yr, the incremental cost of firing Jimbo and bringing in someone new would be around $6m (I'm assuming around $1m year for interest on the payout). It's an risky bet either way. If you don't fire him soon, it might result in years of decline costing the program a lot more than the $6m/yr incremental to bring in someone new. But if the new guy doesn't work out (50/50 at best), you'll be paying 3 coaches when you need to bring in the next savior.
The Jimbo contract (as I understand it) is really next level stupid on A&M's part. The 10 year guarantee is nuts to begin with, but having to pay such a big chunk the day they fire him with no offset if he takes another job is just mind bending stupidity. He can make significantly more $ over the next 9 years by getting fired now and sitting on the beach than he would if he stayed (because he can invest the buyout $). If he gets another job, he get's that $ as well. He's leaving millions on the table by not getting fired as soon as possible. Based on his last couple press conferences, I can't believe he's trying to keep his job at this point.
Maybe that’s what he’s doing?

That was the last year. The next year the natural grass went in and they stopped letting us on the field after that.
It seems like we went on the field at the end of every game back then, at least ones we won. Even when we tied Syracuse in 1993 we rushed the field. You would just kind of walk around and congratulate the players on the win...or the tie in some cases.
In the early-mid 80’s, at the end of every home game, they would let people down to the field. My brother and I used to get autographs after each game. Also used to take pictures riding Bevo after the games. 🤘🏼

I think a lot of us expect to lose out. Go 6-6 or 5-7 because that’s what has happened for years. We want this team to change our mind but then there goes tech and ok state. Same ole same. This team def has the talent to win out but we don’t expect it. We are battered man. We will still watch and cheer and gripe. Are we getting the Ewers who can hit anything with his eyes closed or the one who can’t even hit ‘em to save his life. Are we getting the worthy who tries or not. Are we bringing the run game the second half? We all know what the defense is.
Then recruiting is boring at the moment because we locked up most of them before the season so not much to see there. The only news is, some recruits may leave if we keep losing or some may leave regardless.
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkI maintain that it is this coaching staff that needs to learn how to win and not necessarily the players. New players, same results. I watch the first half of games completely calm and relaxed, but those second halves start up and my ass puckers more than my dog's when the doorbell rings. We need to get over that hump and start closing. Coffee is for closers. 🤘

I feel like everyone here is arguing/saying the same thing, just coming from different directions.
It feels similar to a kid going into a yard that has “Beware of Dog” signs everywhere and he gets bitten. The kid will live but now comes the question of if the dog(s) will get to live.

Our secondary is a downgrade from last year and gimpy, with several RS freshmen in the two deep. Linebackers are a big downgrade from last year. Saturday is not going to be a good day for my Cowboys 😔.
2 hours ago, oSuJeff97 said:Hard disagree.
With all of the injuries, our WR corp is back to what it was at the beginning of last season... Brennan Presley and a bunch of walkons. PLUS Spencer Sanders isn't 100% and our defense is way, way worse.
Saturday will be ugly. Mark my words.
1 hour ago, oSuJeff97 said:Listen... as an OSU fan I understand this line of thinking because it's happened to us a bunch of times. But I'm telling you right now it ain't happening.
The only way I see it being close is if Texas comes out and turns it over 2-3 times. Then... yeah I could see it being like a one-score game. But if Texas plays a clean game and the turnovers are even or favoring Texas, it'll be ugly. I'm thinking something like 42-13 or some such.
1 hour ago, Go Pokes said:Cool. Is there where we drop our reverse jinx posts? I'll just cross post mine from another thread.
Responding to: On 10/15/2022 at 6:46 PM, Valmy77 said: Yeah well...we'll see. Our fans spent the whole ISU game saying you would destroy us next week.
Our game hadn't started by then and honestly, 10 minutes into our game I would have agreed with them. Then reality slapped us upside our heads. Maybe I can reverse jinx us but I don't know how we are going to be able to (1) generate any kind of run game whatsoever or (2) keep Ewers from passing for 400 yds and 5 TDs. So our QB with some kind of injury to his shoulder is going to have to figure out how to come up with 400-500 yds of offense and 45 points with his HC and OC making him run up the middle for at least 35 minutes of game time. I was just as convinced we'd get killed the year Tyler Cornelius was our QB and guaranteed you guys would kill us multiple times on here. Probably my greatest reverse jinx ever. So I'm down to relying on voodoo and black magic again. So here we go:
I see no way we even stay competitive in this game. Texas will probably win 45-15. We have a pretty big advantage at kicker and I expect Gundy to spend all afternoon exploiting the hell out of that advantage. Fuck it. I'm calling it right now. Texas 45-18. Take that bitches! 6 FGs shoved right up your asses!
Spencer Sanders is a rich man's Vince Young, but with more speed, agility, and accuracy. Sanders will impose his will on our defense (and probably their loved ones) and we can do nothing to stop the coming tide. Heisman vote frontrunner, and the only player being invited to NYC for the presentation.
Jaden, Braydon and Bryson are the best triple threat the CFB world has seen since Roy, BJ, and Sloan played for Texas. They're so good that they already hold receiving records in the NFL under the assumed names of "Tyreek Hill", "Travis Kelce", and "DeAndre Hopkins". Brutal job for our defense and secondary, who I've been told asked Sark, quietly, to stay in Austin due to concerns for their well-being and safety. The only problem is the rest of the team over heard them and asked to stay home too. Sark was all for letting them stay back, but since the rest of the team found out he's making everyone make the trip Stillwater.
Did you catch the Alabama v Tennessee game last week and see Saban all pissed off? It wasn't the game. Saban had written to Mike Gundy for coaching advice and to hopefully obtain a coordinator position on his staff next year. Saban worked on his 52 page letter/proposal all summer long, but was told the bad news via headset by the assistant trainer he made read the response letter on Saturday. The response from Gundy was on a wrinkled Ruidoso Downs bet slip that had a grocery list on one side and on the front was "No. Please stop writing me!" written in red lipstick.
I've also heard a rumor that I've been trying to track down, and although it's not confirmed yet, I still think it's worth mentioning as a possibility to prepare for. I was told that T.Boone was planning on haunting the Longhorn sideline during the game and has recently mastered the "Cold Breath on the Neck" trick and has an off color joke he heard in the 30's. Chills.
As much as I'd like for Texas to prevail and ride, it's just not going to work out this weekend I'm afraid.
Texas - 7 (2 safeties and a fg)
OSU - 103 (...at the half)
The announcers hold a 30 second moment of silence, then the network runs "Hanging with Mr. Cooper" reruns for the rest of the time slot.

I don't disagree. I'm just saying the problems in the Tech game were different from the problems against ISU. Against Tech, we kept giving up long sustained drives, primarily driven by our failure to get stops on 4th down. Our defense was executing the plan up until 4th down. It sucked, but it wasn't the result of a complete failures in coverage. Against ISU, we suffered blown assignment after blown assignment.
I agree with that. I'm just bitter about those blown assignments. We need the D and O to be on point the rest of the season.
