Santa Fe is for people who believe Alvin is too progressive and are too embarrassed to live in Hitchcock.

Not gonna lie, I fucking love this dude. His expression in the meat judging team photo is one of my favorite things ever.

    Sorry, just catching up. 😂

No kidding. I haven’t seen one in Central Texas since the late 1970s.

I (and other neighborhood kids) used to play with a huge family of them that lived in some cedar trees in the yard of a neighbor on our street in Round Rock, TX from 1982-1991, then the ants just wiped them out and haven’t seen any since then. My BIL caught one not too long ago in west Texas but it feels like they are all but gone around here.

I've told this story before, but that was at the end of my first year in law school, so I wasn't paying close attention to baseball or the tournament.  I tuned in to watch, saw us lose and WSU going apeshit and was mightily, mightily confused, and then pissed.

RIP Coach.  Had a lot of fun watching your teams.

My 72 year old father still mentions that game and the "one game" bullshit to this day when we watch Texas play. I still remember him being just as confused and just as pissed when he realized.

    QUESTION:

Why do we not have Double or Triple the positive rep to give out on Signing Day?

Why are the basic free members restricted to just their daily allowance?

Thanks, I'll hang up and listen.

I am speaking from experience. Flying cross country could be a problem. It's not like getting on a bus and driving to Waco.

ctj, that's not the point. You fly from LA to NYC and its a 4-5 hour flight and you also lose 3 hours. Or how do you get to Happy Valley? It may not be a problem, but it could be. That's my point.

    Ok, point taken.

Let's consider this as if it was a job offer, because that's basically what it is. There are always going to be candidates that will or won't accept travel as part of the job. Those that won't usually don't apply and if they do are not likely to get out of the travel. A good hiring manager will discuss that part of the position with the candidate before the offer is even made.

That being said, it may be a point of contention, but it's a small point and not one that most in line to accept the offer would care about. Ask a 18-22 year old kid if they'd mind traveling around the country doing what they love for the next 3-4 years on someone else's dime and see if they have an issue with it. Let us know what you find out.

This first screenshot made me legit lol, so thanks for that, random 247 poster. The second one that was just a few posts away from the one that made me lol is the chef's kiss of their delusion. Let's break it down...

    • Having a former HC on staff will motivate the current HC to do better.

Has this really ever happened? It's possible, but I would expect this to be the exception to the rule. It's not likely that a former HC is going to push the current HC, unless the former HC is young and motivated. We know that in most cases, former HC up in years do not suddenly find that fire they had, particularly when they have plenty of money in the bank. Also, HC's have huge egos and could give a shit what their assistant coach thinks they should do.

    • The former HC will be motivated to get another head coaching position.

Actually, most former HC that are in the position that Petrino is in, are just happy to have a job in general. Like one of the posters said, this is a gift if they hire Petrino, and Petrino knows it. Dude will smile all the way to the bank, just like Jimbo is doing. Plus, Petrino is 61 and Kiffin is 47. IT's not that big in the grand scheme, but that is a world of difference in the coaching profession and to recruits.

    • Not sure why everyone is getting their panties in a twist if they hire Petrino.

See reasons listed above, but honestly it's because those people realize the implications and writing on the wall. College football is moving at the speed of light, at the moment, and this hire has the potential to keep their program down even longer.

I have an aggy buddy that keeps telling me Jimbo understands he HAS to make a change or else. I asked him what the "or else" means since Jimbo doesn't have to do a thing and will still get paid either way, and he says that the people in charge will start to apply pressure. So, I ask what will that do? How would you motivate Jimbo or apply pressure if you were A&M AD? "Well, you just got to tell him... that we have higher expectations for his teams and outcomes." Again though, what is his motivation to do something or better? Reputation, maybe? Crickets.

I mean, in my field, it doesn't matter. That was kind of my point. Man in the arena and what not.

In most instances it doesn't matter, but sometimes it does, and it's really nice to have it when you need it. There's good reasons some don't make it at more prestigious programs, and sometimes those reasons manifest themselves during trials/negotiations.

Back on track. Football is a sport The University of Texas participates in. 😁

Visually stunning is table stakes now, and is not nearly enough to make a movie good much less “great”. See: the most recent Jurassic Park. And the one before it.

I see your point, but will say that this will only be the 2nd film in the series (if it even is a series) and that Jurassic Park shitbox is just another money grab marketing ploy to separate morons from their money. It might be enjoyable to some in the theatre, but I'd only watch if it happened to be on TV. I enjoyed the first 3 movies in that series, but it's a shell of its former self, imo.

The difference in James Cameron's 3d and most of the other trash out there is his 3d technology is part of the filming process, where as 90% of the 3d crap that came out in the past 20 years is done post production.

Avatar is the only movie I've seen in 3d that was worth the ticket. I'll go see this with the kids and probably enjoy it simply due to the immersive nature of the experience.

The reason I'll see this movie in the theatre is Cameron makes a visually appealing film and I've never seen a movie of his and felt cheated.

  9. I'll check it out just based off the world Cameron created in the first film. Pandora is a cool location and has badass inhabitants with interesting flora and fauna. The original movie reminds me of Pocahontas, if that story was about Alien Cat people. It could very well suck and be just like other sequels with terrible dialogue a loose story and shitty production, but Cameron's track records suggests, at the very least, it will be visually stunning to watch. Worth it, imo.

I guess it depends on why you go see a movie. Visually stunning movies are great, and if it has a decent story that's just gravy. Marvel shits out some dumb secondary character storyline nobody asks for, but people still go see it. Why? It's entertaining to them. There are a lot of movies I will still watch, knowing full well that it isn't/wasn't the best version that could've been produced. Thor movies come to mind. The first two Thor movies were...something, Thor: Ragnrok had a great story and stopped taking itself so serious which made it a great movie to see and still watch today. The last Thor movie, Thor: Love and Thunder, sucked donkey balls and was nothing but a money grab to profit off of Ragnarok. 4 movies, one watchable over and over, and three I'll never see again.

This new Avatar could be the same, but I'll still go see it in the theatre just like the first movie.

I'm sure you're really plugged into Jake Smith, so we should all just listen to you. Maybe use those sausage sized fingers of yours to look it up instead of using them to wipe the inside of your pussy while navigating this board 24/7. But I'm sure you won't because you'll be proven wrong, just like you have been pluggedl into who will play, Coburn will never do anything, Blue will never be on our roster, and the list goes on about how many times you're wrong on this board. I'm sure there's really a safety just waiting to sign with Texas, but it has to be hush hush because....reasons. You're a syphilitic parasite.

Counter Point: Yes, but he's our syphilitic parasite.
