Just FYI, FOX will be airing our game and another in 4K where available, such as YouTubeTV or probably the Fox app.

I'm going to be out of the country.  Anyone have a vpn they've used they can recommend?  Will be in North Africa

  2. Research note I received this morning.

“Two factors have so far held the US economy back from the brink of recession: the excess savings overhang and a truly rampant budget deficit

The former is a form of lagged fiscal stimulus, due to run out around year-end. The latter is coincident fiscal stimulus.

Both are responsible for driving Q3 nominal GDP +8.5%, or +$560bn. Government deficit spending (i.e. net increase in debt $852bn less $263bn increase in the TGA) accounted for +$588bn (105%) of nominal growth, with 93% of the funding coming via MMFs from the RRP, where only $1.1trn of MMF deposits remain.

The larger the deficit, the higher bond yields. However, the faster NGDP rises on the back of the deficit, the sooner excess savings realign with the economy’s natural demand for money balances and become exhausted.

By pursuing aggressive, peacetime deficits during the latter stages of a particularly mature business cycle (14 years, if you ignore the brief and rather artificial Covid lapse), the US government is crowding out the private sector and driving interest rates all along the curve to heights that render huge swathes of the economy unproductive. Thus, deficits now generate blowout GDP today, but recession later.

Strip out the deficit and the US private sector is revealed to have been in recession since Q3 2022. Either Biden keeps running a very high deficit ahead of the election, driving rates even higher, or the bond market vigilantes manage to restrain the Democrats, but then the pent-up recession will be revealed."

The problem is you have American elected government officials that do not care at all what the truth is.  they have repeated lies over, and over, and over until now the GOP as a whole is the most misinformed group of voters probably since Hitler was elected.  So truth has taken a big fall from grace, because American politicians have proven that a lie is as good as the truth when sold repeatedly by people in power.  Hamas is in power.  So they say whatever, and this is reinforced again and again.  Just like here in the United States.

Sadly it was less than a decade ago when the truth really did matter in the US.  Now we are a lot more like the Middle East where you CHOOSE "your truth."

Democratic members of congress posting their truth. These two asswipes didn't say shit for days and then, when they could blame Israel for something regardless if was true or not, they were able to get a tweet out within minutes on the hospital bombing.  And they have left them up.

    Facts and suppositions:

There are no Gaza Kings or Ghandis. Any such would be killed by Hamas.

Hamas has been in charge a long time. All young adults have grown up on an education of anti-semitism. There are no other curriculums.

I have sympathy for the common Gazan; they never had a chance, were never allowed a glimpse of another way.

I still welcome harsh punishment for the terrorist criminals (I’m the kind of guy that cheers when a 95 year old Nazi criminal is discovered and brought to judgment).

Even still- this will be a tough group to reform, to re-educate (I hate that term, because of its authoritarian legacy), to liberalize.

I give credit to Israel for pointedly saying they were at war with Hamas, and not Gaza, even though Hamas is the single party in complete control of Gaza.

Warring on Hamas will be really ugly. It will have two stages- the first, while everyone determines what to do about the hostages (several are Americans). The second, after. The first part could take a long time, leading to global memory forgetting the massacres and denouncing Israel during the second part. I’m sure Israel understands that.

Surely, Israel has done contingency planning for what to do with Gaza after a (completely foreseeable) collapse of Hamas?

This is exactly what will happen and we have some pedantic Hamas simps on this board with raging antisemitism that will make sure they are here to post all relevant information.

Took you a few days longer than I thought to make it Biden’s fault

Man, you post very insightful analysis of actual political races and then completely ignore or discount those articles that are actually relevant to what is going on.  Why?

  9. I never saw this discussed anywhere but here is the story about how Biden's suspended Iranian envoy Robert Malley helped fund/support an intelligence operation inside the US.  https://www.tabletmag.com/sections/israel-middle-east/articles/iran-spy-ring-robert-malley-lee-smith

And here's the story about Iran getting $6billion in a prisoner swap that won't be used for anything other than "food/agriculture"

    https://www.nytimes.com/2023/08/10/us/politics/iran-us-prisoner-swap.html

And then here's the story about Iran being behind the terrorist actions of Hamas

    https://www.wsj.com/world/middle-east/iran-israel-hamas-strike-planning-bbe07b25

Don't think Iran (or Russia) was too fired up about the potential peace and defense deal between SA/Israel/US.

Ehhh...that could be a lot of things, including meeting with various officials who were seen entering the WH this afternoon.

And that's actually getting lost in the shuffle - if we start seeing a lot more military/state department officials meeting at the WH, start seeing a lot of pizzas delivered late at night to various organizations/campuses around D.C....well, there's already nothing stopping Israel from hitting Iran after this weekend, but the degree of training/competency displayed by Hamas fighters should be concerning the hell out of everyone, and pointing a lot of fingers at Iran/Russia/Wagner.

And I would assume that Iran would be paying close attention to anybody showing up for meetings at the WH (or if WH officials are meeting elsewhere, such as the Pentagon).  We always seemed to make it a point for countries to see that these kinds of meetings were happening in the past, when we could have done it on the down-low through video conferencing, etc.

Look, the point I was trying to make is that there isn't a good guy and a bad guy in this thing.  There really isn't.  It's just sold to us that way on our news.  What Israel has done to Gaza for the last 16 years has been called a war crime by many.  Does that justify what Hamas just did?  Of course not.  It's sickening.  I don't condone what Hamas did, and if you'd followed my many posts over the years, you'd know that I have a *massive* problem with radical Islam.  My point was that I don't understand how any American takes sides in this issue, unless s/he doesn't understand it very well.  The only good guys here are all the innocent civilians being killed on both sides.  Both sets of leadership absolutely suck.

And, I reserve the right to criticize Israel without being labeled an anti-Semite, thank you very much.  There are Jewish people in my family, you simpleton.

Now, again, please stop putting words in my mouth so I can leave this ridiculous thread.  You can have it, dude.

Hey guy, when one side (Hamas) is murdering, kidnapping, and raping women and children they are the bad guy.  Glad I could clear that up for you.

False.  Go back and read some early posts in the Global Spring thread and the Israel thread.  There's a SHITLOAD of "blame the victim first" responses.

which posters?  Israel was invaded by Hamas, women raped and murdered, kidnapped, murdered children in front of their parents and we have posters on this site blaming those very victims for it?  AYFKM.  Goddamn that is gross.

The problem with the USC game wasn’t price, it was availability.  Nobody was selling.  I knew a few guys with $5k in their wallet and they ended up with their dick in their hands.

Knew a guy that used his cash to buy an apron from an employee at the game and went in that way.
