Austin has been good to me for some time now.

I’m packing up and moving to Mount Vernon....

...to become a rape kit salesman.

Stupid move.  You'd have to sell a ton of rape kits to make enough money to pay for your house, vacations, boat, new cars, kid's education, and retirement.

Oh, wait.  I see they hired Art Briles. Do it.

One time in HS we climbed the fence at night at Barton Springs. I ran down the hill on the south side and without looking jumped into what is usually 6 ft of water. The pool was drained and the exact same thing happened to me. I'm really really lucky that I didn't dive head first or I'd be typing by looking at a screen and blinking.

When I was little my grandmother warned me about diving at Barton Springs.  She told the story of how the governor's son (Allan Shivers) broke his neck and was in a wheelchair.

30 years later I had an appointment to meet some Shivers guy in downtown Austin.  The door opened from his office and he came out, in a wheelchair.  I was dumbstruck for a second as I realized I was meeting the guy my grandmother had told me about.  I think he probably saw my surprised and figured I wasn't expecting someone in a wheelchair.

This is a "Mini Park" is in Winter Park, Florida, where I used to live.  It's 0.19 acres, or a single family lot where the City bought an old house and tore it down and made the "mini park."

It made zero sense to me until I realized that sex offenders were barred from living near a public park (I don't remember the distance).  The city effectively drove out any sex offenders by scattering them around the City.

This is probably what he's talking about:

Tesla’s strategy of selling its own cars through its own Tesla-branded stores doesn’t sound all that controversial. Gadget makers like Apple (AAPL, -3.11%)have long directly sold their computers, phones, and tablets in shopping malls and downtowns across the country.

However, car dealers and some auto makers oppose Tesla’s sales model and have successfully lobbied a handful of states to block car makers from directly selling cars to customers. In those states, like Texas, Tesla builds showrooms where customers can learn about the cars but can’t buy them in the store.

I'd put Philip Johnsons New Canaan glass house right up there,  more so because of the time period it was conceived.

It's a knock off of the Farnsworth House.  Being #2 doesn't usually count for much.

  7. He was lucky to have worked at a time when not much talent was required.  I think he's only better than Philip Johnson because of the Louvre.  He had one good idea his entire career.
