  1. Is the Morris and RT stuff related at all to Morris's other issues
  2. It's not height or even size, it's skill. Omier was a big bulky rebounder, sure, but the bigger thing was we had no one who could roll over and contest the drives that they were reasonably afraid of. Granted, with those refs, that guy would've fouled out in the first five minutes of the second half...
  3. We need a shot blocker. Like Ricky said, Beard’s best teams at Tech were the teams with a center that could switch and help. The refs fucking sucked on Sunday, but having Disu or someone bigger than Bishop there as an anchor on the drives would’ve helped immensely. If we are keeping Beard’s defensive schemes (which a ton of teams in CBB run anyway), having someone to funnel to would help a lot. I was most worried about the next round and facing Sanogo and the giant white dude for UConn. You can’t teach hoss.
  4. A GBH one. He's a 3%er or whatever generally but also a homer and good at trolling.
  5. Amazing how Beard continues to ventriloquize these game plans even while he has a new job.
  6. I'm all aboard the "Beard can fuck off" train (see my posts in the recruiting board) but I'm very interested in what these other incidents are.
  7. Just fondly remembering the Justin Wells "wait until you see this coaching staff" tweet and then it was Tom Herman's friends from UH.
  8. I never understood why y'all got so mad at him, but whatever. I'll take my negs. Dude's gone, but feel free to keep caping for a guy who basically did late period Rick Barnes here.
  9. Been posting/lurking since 2014 and this is my first time getting this kind of reaction, I’m honored. I did not like the Beard hire in the first place because he played an aesthetically awful brand of basketball at Tech and seemed like an asshole. Last year we were a preseason top 5 team and didn’t look that different than the regular middling dreck that Shaka put out. It was nice to win that tournament game and it was clear that Beard could scout defense well. This year, if you recall, we lost to a middling Illinois in the same manner we lost a bunch of dumb games last year - going cold on offense, missing FTs, etc. Then he was gone. The Gonzaga game, in retrospect, seems fluky as hell (at least that it was a blowout) given that was the last time Hunter could hit the broad side of a barn. Was he building something? Maybe. But again, we were preseason top 5-10 in 2021-2022 and celebrated winning one tournament game. Yes the media is dumb and should’ve noticed there was a reason that all of our old transfers hadn’t left for the pros yet, but I feel like we didn’t tolerate that shit from Shaka and should’ve expected better. Anyways, all I was saying was that I’m not convinced the record is particularly different with Beard vs. Terry this season. Whether Terry can build the program long term seems like a bigger question, and it does seem like Beard had that in a better direction. If Beard was the one who identified Sir’Jabari Rice, then I take back all my underwhelmingness and am very whelmed.
  10. That makes sense considering Terry's reputation as a recruiter. I found Beard tremendously underwhelming and don't particularly think he does any better with this season's roster than Terry did. The long-term program building stuff is hard to square for Terry, assuredly, but maybe he's learned?
  11. Love listening to the Athletic's recruiting podcast and hearing the host say he ranks A&M higher than UT in recruiting potential because of the "dedication to NIL" that they've shown.
  12. He's their Miami beat writer I think. I only asked because the info from Ari Wasserman on his podcast was so bad (it was algorithm rec'd to me by Spotify) that I'm a bit weary of their stuff on recruiting.
  13. Who is their general recruiting writer that would have notes like that?
  14. The NCAA dead period ends February 28. That means that the Texas Longhorns can once again host unofficial visitors beginning March 1. The month of March is going to be a busy one for Steve Sarkisian and staff. March 25 is going to be the Longhorns second Junior Day weekend for the 2024 cycle with an emphasis on out of state visitors. And the 2023 class may not be done yet either. Sarkisian and the offensive staff continue to swing away at On3 Consensus 5-star Duce Robinson. Here are some Sunday thoughts to get the week going with a busy month ahead on the recruiting trail. Duce Robinson and 2024 TE’s As of late last week the communication between Duce Robinson, his family and Texas remained. And the same can be said for Georgia and USC. There hasn’t been any major changes in the recruitment from what IT has heard. A decision is still expected on April 1, or prior. Even if Robinson had decided to wait until June and just sign scholarship papers, the Longhorns would have continued to recruit him. That speaks volumes to how much he is coveted by the Texas staff. Jeff Banks extended February offers to three 2024 tight end prospects. Carter Nelson is pound-for-pound one of the most gifted athletes in the country, period. This one feels like a long shot for the Horns, but a spring or summer visit is possible to likely. There will be a lot of pressure on the On3 Consensus 4-star to stay in Nebraska with the excitement around Matt Rhule being in Lincoln. But Nelson does currently plan to make some visits, and weigh his options. Laguna Beach’s Ryner Swanson and South Florida’s Colton Heinrich both told IT last week they plan to make visits to Texas. When those visits will be is still in the balance. All three 2024 TE’s offered have a skill set I like. They are smooth movers with high-end body control. Jerrick Gibson and Texas On3’s Chad Simmons published a story with the latest on nation’s No. 1 ranked running back Jerrick Gibson late last week. Tashard Choice continues to have a great relationship with the IMG Academy standout. There is a growing consensus that the Longhorns will enter March in the best position with Gibson. If my hand was forced today, I would enter an On3 RPM pick for Texas. With that said, there are four June official visits that will very likely decide this recruitment. Florida State, Florida and Miami remain in the mix too. The June 23-24 weekend is shaping up to be the Longhorns’ huge official weekend of the summer. Gibson and top offensive tackle target Daniel Calhoun will be in town that weekend. Calhoun’s four June OV’s are Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and Texas. Texas’ wide net at defensive line The Longhorns have cast a very wide net on the defensive line in the 2024 cycle, and I love the strategy. Texas has offered prospects from California, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Connecticut, Missouri and Illinois. The states of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and Florida are a must for the future with the move to the SEC in 2024. Texas must engage in many heavy hitter recruiting battles in the future. And they are more than willing. Thus far, there have been several prospects step foot on campus among the offers. Those were D’Antre Robinson, Dominick McKinley, Isaia Faga, Melvin Hills, Jeffery Rush and Kendall Jackson from out of state January 21. Robinson is a Tashard Choice/Bo Davis combo recruitment, and the 6-foot-3, 305-pounder said he will make an OV. McKinley and Faga have also told IT in the last couple of weeks they intend to officially visit. March and April will add to the out of state prospects that will make stops in Austin. Those include Omar White, Caleb Moore and likely Malik Blocton. Texas is working hard to get Kamron Beavers, Terrance Hibbler and Jayden Jackson on campus. They would also like to get T.J. Lindsey to Austin. Texas is casting a wide net to get two by December. That’s the end game. The total defensive line number will be three or four. There are two in-state prospects that can pick up the phone and commit right now. They are Alex January and Joseph Jonah-Ajonye. Don’t under estimate how high the 6-foot-3.5, 260-pound Oak Ridge versatile defensive line prospect is on the board. The Texas staff is way higher on him as a prospect than the industry. And at the end of the day, the Texas staff will be correct.
  15. The national media's perception of the UT/A&M rivalry is so weird. I got algorithm recommended the Andy Staples pod and their reasons for why UT was "obsessed" with A&M was Geoff Ketchum's twitter feed, "friend of the show, Billy Liucci," and threads like this on message boards. One of the hosts also opined that Johntay Cook really liked A&M but ultimately chose Texas because A&M's offense was bad, and that maybe in the future, our rivalry game will decide "who gets Johntay Cook." I was in school from 2008-2012 and Texas Tech was a bigger deal! OU is the big rival! I won't be listening to that again.
  16. At OU Riley would use the TE/HB a lot. Austin Stogner, Grant Calcaterra, Andrews, etc.
  17. The weird internet bravado of "You want some names, I'll give you some names" is awesome. Idk if that's Howell or Liuccci but either way, just perfect $9.95er bullshit.
  18. LSU doesn't 'hate' them so much as find them loud, weird, and annoying like the rest of the SEC does.
