  1. Happy for Molly !

Didn't realize she was from Iowa.    Just got married a few months ago (nice story, with photos  link 1).   Always liked her demeanor and attitude.

    https://www.theknot.com/us/molly-jacobsen-and-robbie-mccargar-oct-2023/our-story

In her year playing with the Longhorns, Jacobsen recorded a 14-6 record with 76 strikeouts. Her team also made a Super Regional appearance that season,

The Iowa-native also brings experience in the Southeastern Conference. She totaled 19 wins, five saves, and 230 strikeouts with a 2.53 ERA over two seasons in Oxford.

"Molly is an upcoming star in our profession," Anderson said in a press release, on Friday. "I've always admired her work ethic and determination in her playing career, which has carried over now to her coaching career. She has been mentored by some phenomenal softball minds in our game and I look forward to sharing the bullpen with her and our pitching staff."

Tenn has a 4K seat shitter of a stadium that just lost in a super regional bid to southern miss. Not that I think ours is anything to write home about

Tenn just approved a major upgrade of their baseball facilities to be completed by 2025.

  3. Very happy for Tanner, good showing  at the Cape - needed that for the draft.

Chatham's manager/head coach is Tom Holliday (Texas pitching coach '04-'06).

  5. Tolle had a 97k's in 85.2 inn, 97/19 K/BB ratio, .245 OBA (lowest on staff)  4.62 ERA not impressive,  but a definite take.    Tougher competition but Saarloos is one of the best.

OU, and I am sure others, really wanted Tolle (from Yukon, Ok) but TCU NLI won the day.

and Hondo…fyi, Dylan Crews came to LSU out of high school, not by way of the portal.  in fact, the only position player out of the portal is Tommy White, the rest were signed out of HS.

    Congrats on a great run.

Impressed by Jay Johnson's demeanor and ability to keep the players focused as a team.   Like most Californians, he is very cerebral and articulate.  He does have a unique style where he seems to make all in game decisions (including calling the pitches) without input from his assistants.   At least as portrayed on TV.    Will be interesting to see who replaces pitching coach Wes Johnson.

Did Texas consider recruiting this player?

No idea on the recruitment of Isa Torres.  @Js1 may know.  Google tells me she was committed to aggy to play with her sister, Mariana.   However, her sister transferred to McNeese after the coaching change.

Viviana Martinez put up simillar numbers in Arizona.   She was just selected to play on Team USA in the Japan Series.   Similar high school numbers also for Goode, Scott, and Washington.    That said,  FSU Coach Lonni Alameda (one of the best) doesn't waste scholarships.

Following a standout freshman campaign under fifth-year head coach Mike White, Texas' Viviana Martinez has been selected to a Women's National Team (WNT) to compete in the 2023 Japan All-Star Series slated to take place from August 4 to August 7 USA Softball announced Thursday.

  8. From Miami's fan forum.   Walter is the Wake Forest coach, JD Arteaga is the pitching coach.   Would like to see Tulo,  but difficult to get a P5 job with no ties.

From @scane : Rogers finally posted his ‘scoop.’ He says it’s between Pollard and JD with Walter maybe entering the mix. Tulo has faded away. Obviously, we have a more reliable source saying not JD. He says resolution could come relatively soon.

Does corn dog have anyone left to back up Skenes if he can't go go CG?

Thatcher Hurd is a stud who finished the WF game, 47 pitches on Thurs,  Skenes 120.

Florida's Caglianone threw vs TCU on Wed (85 pitches)   Problem is he has a 85-52 K/BB ratio.    Not good.

You seem to be going straight from the B1G football playbook.

Let's see, UF doesn't get credit for playing Miami and FSU because they are in state.

Goes right there with SEC teams only won because they were allowed to play in the games. If they had been kept out of the BCS/Playoffs/Omaha they wouldn't nearly win as much.

Don't know about the schedule talk,  but I do know I am about to dress in a pair of burnt orange gym shorts and a blue polo.   Don't let us down !

I tried to talk my daughter into getting a gig like that, so I enjoyed it.

Piqued my interest also.    Checked her on the WF website during the delay.   Impressive.

Team ERA 2.84,  all the starters under 3.00,  no injuries.    Seems to be working.

Kristen Nicholson, PhD, joined the Wake Forest pitching lab staff in October 2018 as the director of the lab and lead of biomechanics research. She earned her undergraduate in Mathematical Science from Clemson University in 2010 and her MS and PhD in Biomechanics and Movement Science from the University of Delaware in 2015. Dr. Nicholson wrote her dissertation on a mathematical model for measuring scapular motion and became an expert in upper extremity biomechanics.

While at the University of Delaware, Dr. Nicholson was the project lead on a collaborative project between US Figure Skating, the University of Delaware, and C-Motion (a biomechanical analysis company). The project was designed to facilitate the performance of triple and quad revolution jumps by Olympic and pre-Olympic skaters.

For three years before coming to Winston-Salem, Dr. Nicholson has worked as a biomechanical research engineer at Nemours/A. I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware. During this time she augmented her clinical skills while developing her own research interests. She earned an ACCEL Mentored Research Development Award and subsequently secured grant funding from the Scoliosis Research Society. Dr. Nicholson has a particular interest in the development of non-invasive tools and methods for assessing kinematics and implementing scapular kinematics in baseball pitching.

Dr. Nicholson is currently an Assistant Professor in Orthopaedic Surgery at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She has over 20 academic presentations, 15 peer-reviewed research manuscripts, and a book chapter. She is looking forward to leading research in the pitching lab.

Originally from Clover, South Carolina, Dr. Nicholson now resides in Winston Salem with her husband Jefferson.

  14. May prove to be an excellent hire in prep for the SEC.   Replaces Clay Overcash who resigned and was on initial staff.     Butler also was an asst for Van Horn at Arkansas and word was was offered the hitting coach job at Texas in 2013-2014 but received the offer for Wichita St.

Former Mountaineer Ben Hampton transfers to Big 12 foe

    by Wesley Shoemaker

    IMG_0827.jpg

West Virginia baseball pitcher Ben Hampton has transferred to Big 12 foe TCU.

Hampton was a key part in guiding the Mountaineers to a program record tying 40 wins this year. Hampton was 5-3 with a 4.45 ERA this season. In his career he was 17-11 with 203 strikeouts and a career ERA of 4.62. This past season, West Virginia was 11-5 in games Hampton started.

Real mystery on his decline (and the WVU Team) at the end of the season.   If anyone can help him,  that would be Saarloos.

Congrats on a great run !    Good luck at the CWS !

Question for some of you guys who are in the know on Max Belyeu:  What are your thoughts if he will get a chance to start next year or possibly portal out or what?

Not in the know,  but a good barometer is Summer ball. May not be sent to the Cape,  but if he goes to Santa Barbara that is a good sign.  Even Northwoods would be good.

Should know within a couple of weeks.    Did he have injury ?

    Was 6 for 20 in 15 games, 4 starts.
