But I'm 99% sure the committee will just go "meh" and send TXST to Austin

Very likely.    I also think the NCAA likes fan attendance which may be a factor.   Closer, the better for attendance.

Certainly conur with the above comments about @Js1.     Besides his vast knowledge,  the thing I respect is he credits his source.   Does not act like a "super insider".

More of a general comment/question, but would love to hear some thoughts on the overall state of college pitching? ERA's feel very high this year nationwide. It's eye opening to see only a handful of teams have ERA's under 4.00. Is the pitching quality taking a step back? Are the hitters just getting better and better? Strike zones getting smaller?

Jim -- great question. We are in the TrackMan era when it comes to strike zones. I think umpires have very tight zones, and when you have very tight windows to throw into, hitters know that. Combine that with a current ball that absolutely flies and it's the perfect storm for the offense ... and the pitching. That's what makes what guys like Hagen Smith are doing seem remarkable -- and Paul Skenes last year.

If Texas wins their last 2 conference series and wins the Big 12 conference tournament, will they host a regional?

Robert -- highly unlikely. Unfortunately, the Longhorns have so many Q4 losses that it has really dragged down its RPI -- whether fair or not is to be debated. Texas is 50 right now and would need to get to about 20-25 to even have a shot. That's going to be tough to accomplish. I do really like the way the offense looks, and the pitching staff is piecing things together about as well as they can right now.

Question, with current NIL, the 11.whatever scholarships that are available are obviously a thing of the past.

So are all of the Texas players playing without paying tuition now? And also, with baseball, are most teams in the sec and acc pretty much doing this? As in all players on “scholarship “

Bump this to the top for someone with knowledge to answer.   @closetojumping may choose to opine on NIL goals at Texas.

Saw the below link online.  Supposedly from NCAA,  though looks somewhat suspect.

  5. B12 and Tech will no longer be our concern,  but I thought Tech would improve under Craig Snider (hitting coach @ Fl St and aggy)    Looking at the coaching staff,  he has one asst from Wash Univ in St Louis and 2 former Fl St grad asst coaches, one who seems to be the pitching coach.    Likely no one on his staff has connections to the Texas/National travel ball circuit.

Radar shows t'storms on outskirts of Norman between 12:30 - 2PM.    Heavy rain overnight but hopefully will clear for 3PM game.   Lubbock looks good for Sat.

@Js1  @FloridaHorn      Any thoughts on why Kenny G elected to start Aycock in game 1 and then Kilfoyl ?    Plans to pitch both all 3 games ?

When I was there, UH had something like 4000 season ticketholders, which count every night, but about 500 people would show up for each game.

I'd really like to see a graph of a butts-in-seats attendance measure.

    Good point !

Texas claims they have sold 7K season tickets.   I really think they have made a deal with the ticket brokers like Seat Geek which may have bought alot of the season tickets.     Check the prices for the Friday OKSt game.    Seat Geek is trying to unload. (just my guess) and ready for a new coach.Screenshot2024-05-02211852.thumb.png.77c85f0e601a78258600cf546f3e7715.png

Only for purpose of discussion until Friday to keep our anxious minds occupied.  😊

Very early Regional projection from College Sports Madness (only one I could find) to be taken with a grain of salt.    #2 seed hosting Texas St, NCar, and Prairie View matched with #15 seed ULL.   OU is #1 seed matched with #16 seed UW which could be a strong matchup.   I think UW may finish higher.   aggy #8 seed.

I guess we are giving Iowa State a free out just starting Whitaker at DP. Maybe she just gets the start today and after 1 AB, will get replaced

Senior Day honor by starting ?

Before they would honor the Seniors pregame during one of the games at the last home series.   Would be introduced with their families,  a video of their highlights shown,  presented a framed jersey and roses.    The opposing team's Seniors also received roses.    Nice ceremony,  sorry it apparently has been discontinued.

Edit.   Just saw opening clip on LHN.   They still do the same.

Showers/T'Storms forecast for the weekend.   Possibly not enough for cancellation with the most questionable day being Sunday.    Hope the weather does not affect the attendance so the Seniors can be given well deserved recognition on Senior Day.   They were key participants in elevating this program.

Citlaly will likely start today with Czech ready to go. If Czech is not needed today, perhaps we go Morgan/Czech or Czech/Morgan tomorrow. Here’s hoping we have a huge lead and Sophia gets some work today, saving Czech and Morgan for Sunday

    2pm ESPN+

Let's hope Citilaly has a strong performance.    She and TK haven't been their sharpest as of late.

I thought TK may be tiring as she has thrown 82 IP (most, Mac 63, Citilaly 60) but checking her bio she threw 128 IP in '22 Spring/Summer travel ball circuit.
