  2. Schlossnagle radio interview at texags     Says he will go with RHP Chris Cortez regular Tuesday starter.   Inconsistent last year,  fared well this year vs IWU and Lamar.   Not overpowering,  control was issue last year.

    • Playing at Texas’ field is awesome. You can feel it just during batting practice. There is mutual respect between coaching staffs. We see them on the road a lot, and I've known David Peirce since he was a high school coach in Houston. But it is what it is.

    • I’ve been preparing, even Braden. I said to him, “You have no idea what you are walking into.” Especially next year when you are walking into a three-game series in the SEC? The world may explode. I don't know.

    • But I've been there. I’ve been there for Super Regionals at TCU. But it's not the same. It's not normal, but its great preparation for our league, at LSU and Ole Miss. All of this is great life experience and great preparation for the future.

    • No win or loss will define our season whether it’s Rhode Island or Texas. Yesterday, we had a hit by Bard and put the ball over the bag to extend the lead. Friday night, two swings decided the game, Montgomery and Sorrell, otherwise that's a scoreless game or if we have a couple of balls fall, then that's an 8-0 game.

    • Baseball is so fickle. It's hard to predict what will happen. We want to win ball games, and playing those guys over there is going to be a lot of fun.

    • Chris Cortez playing at Texas will do a lot for his confidence and mine too. I’ve had confidence in him from day one and kept pushing him out there. It would be a great opportunity for him to showcase himself in that kind of environment.

    • All I ask from our starting pitcher is that when I take the ball from you, have us in the game, and I’ll manage the rest with the bullpen guys. If Chris can get out there and give us a great four innings, then we will pass it on to whoever's next on the way.

This tournament is a great early season ‘temperature’ check for this team / program

Do you have a general impression of the Texas fan support this weekend ?     Lower numbers than in the past ?     Suppose many opted not to purchase lower level ?

CNN article from January.    Doesn't mention increased insurance costs for individual consumers.

Electric vehicles have been hurting Hertz’s financials, executives have said, because, despite costing less to maintain, they have higher damage-repair costs and, also, higher depreciation.

“[C]ollision and damage repairs on an EV can often run about twice that associated with a comparable combustion engine vehicle,” Hertz CEO Stephen Scherr said in a recent analyst call.

Lefty starters with low E;1RAs have been our kryptonite lately. Granted, that’s true for a lot of teams, but they often make Texas look like little leaguers at the plate.

Gage Jump,  LSU's lefty starter was taken out after 2.1 inn vs N. Illinois on the 22nd.   Didn't appear to be performance related,  so maybe possible injury or tweak.    Suppose LSU is trying to determine if Gage is ready against our LH lineup or go with Luke Holman or Thatcher Hurd (not off to a good start).   Or they could have someone waiting in the wings.

Regardless,  this is a key non conf RPI game for LSU moreso than us.   LSU playing Texas St and ULL is not the same.   Watched a couple innings of the Rice/LSU game.   Small sample size,  but they don't look as clean as they did last year.

  6. Not ideal weather,  gametime 55 degrees dropping to 51,  NNE winds 18mph dropping to 15mph.    Pretty sure their ballpark faces NNW.     Too bad,  always a great game/atmosphere.   Alot of youth teams from the surrounding areas including New Braunfels normally attend to see the 'Horns.

No video broadcast per TexasSports.     Bummer,  was looking forward to multitasking watching Vic and the Ladies take down OU.

While the game won't have a video broadcast, Longhorn fans can hear Andrew Haynes call the action at texas.leanplayer.com

  7. Since we are throwing out thoughts:

    -  That game hurts,  we will talk about it infinitely like '22 Clearwater.    Hopefully,  later in a positive way.

    -  Katie Cimusz may be the best defensive catcher/1B of them all.   Though not seen enough of Stewart.    Katie's offense is not par compared but she still should be considered as late inning defensive replacement when needed.

      - That said,  would have liked to have seen Goode (if healthy, though she is batting .100) get the pinch hit role vs Katie last night.   Goode has a better compact swing vs Canady.

    -  Small sample size,  but we are currently 8th in the B12 in fielding (.959), 1st in hitting (.402) and pitching (0.76).

    -  Likely challenging game which we need in San Marcos Wed night.      Texas St is 13-4,  currently 5-0 at a tournament at Arizona St.  Beat Ariz St (11-5) 12-2.

  8. Good tournament.   Should be a good crowd,  ULL normally has a great following.

  9. @Js1    When time permits,  pls give us a summary of the tournament this weekend.   Of interest,  what are other sites "in the know" saying about them.  Thanks !

Stanford (5-4) and ULL (6-5).   Stanford has played a tough schedule.       Colorado State normally is also competitive.

LHN schedule indicates they will broadcast the tournament.    ULL vs Stanford,  Friday, 11AM.

Vic is very, very upset.   May be gamemanship to get team's attention for the stretch run and postseason.   (excerpts, long article)

That's not how we practice or prepare. It really bothers me. In my mind, we didn't earn the victory tonight. I thought Texas Tech really took the fight to us and Coach (Krista) Gerlach and her team are to be commended for that."

That doesn't make it any easier, y'all. We're lucky, we won the game. I'm hopeful my kids will learn from it. But when you have worked all year to put yourself in this position with four to go, you have four championship games. Now we have three and that's what you're going to bring to the table?

Gerlich, who played for Texas Tech, and Schaefer both said they'd be open to playing in the future.

So all we have to do is beat OU in Norman and win our other games games and we will split the Big 12 title (at a minimum) and be the #1 seed in KC

We'd beat OU in the tiebreaker because we beat WV and then we'd beat KSU in the tiebreaker because we were 1-0 against ISU and KSU would be 1-1 (if they win the rematch in Manhattan)

The B12 Tournament will definitely be worth the price of admisson.

We’ve seen 10 arms so far and honestly the dude who looked the worse was Whitehead. No idea what was going on with him yesterday but he was throwing like 85.

Trainer accompanied Pierce to the mound in the 9th.   May be an issue or gamemanship to avoid being charged with a visit.   Likely the former.   He was pulled after the batter and the next batter was a LH.

Fuck ! LHN is showing the softball game at 5PM and it is a road game which makes no sense unless it is just an ESPN feed that is being picked up.

I am assuming those of us watching on TV will miss the first inning or two.

ESPNews has scheduled reruns.    Hopefully,  one of the broadcasts will be switched so baseball can start on time.

Jakob Christian will be one to watch—D2 player of the year last year. Hit over .400 with 28 bombs. I know Texas and Ole Miss were on him, but he opted to stay close to home.

Yep,  not really sure McGuire will play.   They return their 1B from last year, Gurevitch.   Hit only .265 with 6 HR,  but fielded .992.

Unfortunate Globe Life Tournament is on FloBaseball.    Not sure,  I believe cost is $29.95 per month.    Stream hijackers can't pick up their stream.    They have preview streams available but you have to continuously refresh.      OU vs Oregon (3PM) and vs Tenn (7PM) should be good ones.
