  1. https://d1baseball.com/chats/d1baseball-weekly-chat-march-11/ D1 Baseball (not a member) has a Monday weekly chat on the National scene and often mentions Texas and the B12. If you are on the site early (around 11AM ?) sometimes you can read before it is paywalled. Or check their twitter to see if available. afaik, outside of that have to pick up tidbits from On3 and the paysites. Not sure if Pierce has a weekly radio interview.
  2. LSU swept Kentucky this weekend. Hope springs eternal. 😊 Edit: They played at Kentucky so they may be tired for the 11AM game. ☺️
  3. aggy beat Alana Vawter and SCarolina today 2-1 with a walkoff HR in bottom of 10th with 2 outs. Also won yesterday 3-0. SEC next year will be real.
  4. 56 degrees at game time, advancing to 64 by 2PM. NNW winds blowing in at 17-18mph. https://weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/l/400bf8ecc1242481a1b44769d9bb776db578f1a234ddaa49b696ccd2e065055f
  5. Good job, Nadia ! UH had Citaly and staff well scouted. Never were fooled. Was some of it lack of execution, sure, but UH's approach was outstanding.
  6. Friday temp reported to be 46 degrees with 20MPH N Wind at game time, 40 degrees at 9PM. Hopefully will canx and play 2 Sat or Sun. canx and play 2 Sat or Sun.
  7. Schlossnagle radio interview at texags Says he will go with RHP Chris Cortez regular Tuesday starter. Inconsistent last year, fared well this year vs IWU and Lamar. Not overpowering, control was issue last year. Playing at Texas’ field is awesome. You can feel it just during batting practice. There is mutual respect between coaching staffs. We see them on the road a lot, and I've known David Peirce since he was a high school coach in Houston. But it is what it is. I’ve been preparing, even Braden. I said to him, “You have no idea what you are walking into.” Especially next year when you are walking into a three-game series in the SEC? The world may explode. I don't know. But I've been there. I’ve been there for Super Regionals at TCU. But it's not the same. It's not normal, but its great preparation for our league, at LSU and Ole Miss. All of this is great life experience and great preparation for the future. No win or loss will define our season whether it’s Rhode Island or Texas. Yesterday, we had a hit by Bard and put the ball over the bag to extend the lead. Friday night, two swings decided the game, Montgomery and Sorrell, otherwise that's a scoreless game or if we have a couple of balls fall, then that's an 8-0 game. Baseball is so fickle. It's hard to predict what will happen. We want to win ball games, and playing those guys over there is going to be a lot of fun. Chris Cortez playing at Texas will do a lot for his confidence and mine too. I’ve had confidence in him from day one and kept pushing him out there. It would be a great opportunity for him to showcase himself in that kind of environment. All I ask from our starting pitcher is that when I take the ball from you, have us in the game, and I’ll manage the rest with the bullpen guys. If Chris can get out there and give us a great four innings, then we will pass it on to whoever's next on the way. https://texags.com/s/57739/jim-schlossnagle-recaps-texas-ams-3-0-weekend-at-globe-life-field

  9. Do you have a general impression of the Texas fan support this weekend ? Lower numbers than in the past ? Suppose many opted not to purchase lower level ?
  10. CNN article from January. Doesn't mention increased insurance costs for individual consumers. Electric vehicles have been hurting Hertz’s financials, executives have said, because, despite costing less to maintain, they have higher damage-repair costs and, also, higher depreciation. “[C]ollision and damage repairs on an EV can often run about twice that associated with a comparable combustion engine vehicle,” Hertz CEO Stephen Scherr said in a recent analyst call. https://www.cnn.com/2024/01/11/business/hertz-tesla-selling/index.html
  11. Gage Jump, LSU's lefty starter was taken out after 2.1 inn vs N. Illinois on the 22nd. Didn't appear to be performance related, so maybe possible injury or tweak. Suppose LSU is trying to determine if Gage is ready against our LH lineup or go with Luke Holman or Thatcher Hurd (not off to a good start). Or they could have someone waiting in the wings. Regardless, this is a key non conf RPI game for LSU moreso than us. LSU playing Texas St and ULL is not the same. Watched a couple innings of the Rice/LSU game. Small sample size, but they don't look as clean as they did last year.
  12. https://www.statesman.com/story/special/podcasts/2024/02/29/texas-baseball-coach-david-pierce-preps-for-lsu-vandy-aggies/72735099007/ AAS podcast with Pierce first 17 min. 6:45 Witt, 9:00 O'Dowd and Brown.
  13. Not ideal weather, gametime 55 degrees dropping to 51, NNE winds 18mph dropping to 15mph. Pretty sure their ballpark faces NNW. Too bad, always a great game/atmosphere. Alot of youth teams from the surrounding areas including New Braunfels normally attend to see the 'Horns. No video broadcast per TexasSports. Bummer, was looking forward to multitasking watching Vic and the Ladies take down OU. While the game won't have a video broadcast, Longhorn fans can hear Andrew Haynes call the action at texas.leanplayer.com. https://texassports.com/news/2024/2/27/no-2-2-softball-preview-at-texas-state.aspx
  14. https://www.spacecityhn.com/home/ The Astros College Classic is scheduled to be broadcast on the Space City Network. Channel finder is listed at top of page. May require a trial to one of the streaming services if you don't have. Before, did the Astros have a free stream on their website ?
  15. Atwood again fails to block and misses a tag.
  16. Since we are throwing out thoughts: - That game hurts, we will talk about it infinitely like '22 Clearwater. Hopefully, later in a positive way. - Katie Cimusz may be the best defensive catcher/1B of them all. Though not seen enough of Stewart. Katie's offense is not par compared but she still should be considered as late inning defensive replacement when needed. - That said, would have liked to have seen Goode (if healthy, though she is batting .100) get the pinch hit role vs Katie last night. Goode has a better compact swing vs Canady. - Small sample size, but we are currently 8th in the B12 in fielding (.959), 1st in hitting (.402) and pitching (0.76). - Likely challenging game which we need in San Marcos Wed night. Texas St is 13-4, currently 5-0 at a tournament at Arizona St. Beat Ariz St (11-5) 12-2.
  17. Good tournament. Should be a good crowd, ULL normally has a great following. Friday, Feb. 23 Stanford vs. Louisiana (11 a.m. CT) – LHN Stanford vs. Colorado State (1:30 p.m. CT) – LHN Louisiana vs. Texas (4:00 p.m. CT) – LHN Colorado State vs. Texas (6:30 p.m. CT) – LHN Saturday, Feb. 24 Louisiana vs. Colorado State (11 a.m. CT) – LHN Louisiana vs. Stanford (1:30 p.m. CT) – LHN Colorado State vs. Texas (4:30 p.m. CT) – LHN Stanford vs. Texas (7:00 p.m. CT) – LHN Sunday, Feb. 25 Colorado State vs. Stanford (10 a.m. CT) – LHN Louisiana vs. Texas (12:30 p.m. CT) – LHN
  18. @Js1 When time permits, pls give us a summary of the tournament this weekend. Of interest, what are other sites "in the know" saying about them. Thanks ! Stanford (5-4) and ULL (6-5). Stanford has played a tough schedule. Colorado State normally is also competitive. LHN schedule indicates they will broadcast the tournament. ULL vs Stanford, Friday, 11AM.
  19. https://www.statesman.com/story/sports/college/longhorns/womens-basketball/2024/02/21/basketball-coach-vic-schaefer-calls-out-longhorns-after-texas-tech-win/72548200007/ Vic is very, very upset. May be gamemanship to get team's attention for the stretch run and postseason. (excerpts, long article) That's not how we practice or prepare. It really bothers me. In my mind, we didn't earn the victory tonight. I thought Texas Tech really took the fight to us and Coach (Krista) Gerlach and her team are to be commended for that." That doesn't make it any easier, y'all. We're lucky, we won the game. I'm hopeful my kids will learn from it. But when you have worked all year to put yourself in this position with four to go, you have four championship games. Now we have three and that's what you're going to bring to the table? Gerlich, who played for Texas Tech, and Schaefer both said they'd be open to playing in the future.
  20. Just a note since I am a Nadia Taylor fan. UH is 10-1 against meager competition but you need that to build a winning culture after their down years. They go to LSU this weekend for a tournament. Nadia has them hitting .388, Hope Trautwein (OU) is pitching coach. We open conference play with them @ Houston on 8 March. https://uhcougars.com/sports/softball/schedule
  21. Thanks for posting the rankings. Checked to see about telecast (none listed). OkSt is spending the week in Florida playing Stetson and a tournament in Tampa. UW doing the same. https://okstate.com/sports/softball/schedule
  22. Trainer accompanied Pierce to the mound in the 9th. May be an issue or gamemanship to avoid being charged with a visit. Likely the former. He was pulled after the batter and the next batter was a LH.
  23. Nice day tomorrow for February. https://weather.com/weather/hourbyhour/l/354aafe37aa0a42c04081ebbb93de8ee7531422ba721abc3ff758f434c2587ab
  24. Voodc Player OU vs Tenn unless stream disappears. If issues, try different browsers. @WBT may be interested instead of the other game.
