  1. Exactly. Leaving on Tuesday to play OkSt was a mistake. Should have been totally focused on OU and been watching film and working on approach.
  2. I think the graph on Smith was in error. OU board shows her era at 2.59 overall and 7.15 in conference. Regardless, good move by Gasso to start Smith in this environment to gain experience for the postseason. aggy defeats Ark 2-0 to prevent a sweep, but will be behind OU by 1 game in the loss column for first place. https://soonersports.com/sports/softball/stats/2025
  3. Last year TK threw 137.1 inn in 28 appearances for the entire season including WCWS. This year in 31 appearances she has thrown 130.2 inn prior to tonight. She needs some help. OU's Landry has thrown 118.2 inn in 24 appearances prior to tonight.

  6. Feel terrible for him, great young man. Drafted in the 14th rd last year by the Phillies (same rd as Tanner by the Mets), projected by many in the top 100 this year (65th by ESPN). His family, Schloss, and Weiner will give advice and referrals on the path forward. From a cursory search, depending on the extent of the injury shoulder injuries can be more debilitating than TJ. Let's hope that is not the case.
  7. Schloss said the same on one of the OB vids with Zach Symms.

Per OkSt fan board, Sunday game (9-1 OkSt) was called after 4.5 innings due to weather and UH travel schedule. Game included a 67 minute weather delay. No details, but Whiting went way overboard in stall tactics to try to prevent game becoming official as another weather front was moving in. Criticized by his own fan base as well. https://brobible.com/sports/article/houston-baseball-coach-ejected-oklahoma-state/

Relative posts from D1 Chat. Does all the SEC insanity among the teams...Aggies zippo, then suddenly on fire, Florida flaming out, but trying to get back in it, LSU in a gumbo of weird weekends, Arkansas, etc. etc....does this make for a more exciting season down the stretch or ....is Texas really possibly gonna win the whole damn thing? Please, please not the latter .I think it makes for a very exciting gumbo, to borrow your word. I think this thing is wide open -- and that's no disrespect to Texas, which has had the best season through 10 weeks and is 100 percent deserving of being ranked No. 1. Certainly Texas could win the whole thing, but so could a bunch of other teams, and certainly Jared Spencer's injury status going forward is important. Horns keep on finding ways to win despite injuries, but man that would be another very big blow Who do you like in the Lone Star Showdown this weekend? A&M is coming in hot, but other teams (Georgia, Auburn) have come into Austin on a hot streak and hit a wall Great question. I do think A&M is playing like an elite team, and I also am certain Jared Spencer will not pitch this weekend against the Aggies. However, I think I still lean the Horns at home. I love their overall vibe and they just seem to keep having guys step up when someone goes down. Maybe Spencer being out will be different? For now, I'm still all in on those guys. I'll say Texas 2/3. After that series win over Arkansas is Texas A&M in the hosting discussion if they keep winning? If they win the LSU and Texas series, you can start having that discussion. But until then .... How and when will we know the number of scholarships each program is deciding to fund next season? Once the house settlement is approved by Judge Wilken (hopefully in the next week?), we will have a lot more clarity. I think once that happens you'll start to see those dominoes fall. I'm fascinated to see what each league allows. I do think there's a groundswell of momentum toward the major leagues allowing their individual schools to do whatever the heck they want, which is good. Are the Vols in trouble in terms of hosting...what do they have to do the rest of the season to make darn sure they host. I think the Vols are still in solid shape as of today, but I do have some concerns about them right now. It felt like the bullpen was vulnerable over the weekend, while Tegan Kuhns struggled in his start. That's now three-straight starts where Kuhns couldn't get out of the third inning. That's problematic for me. I'm still buying stock in this time, but they've definitely taken a step back as of late. The state of baseball at UH is painful to watch and the stunt they tried to pull yesterday was embarrassing. Not asking you to bag on a coach, but what needs to happen for that program to get back to competing for regionals? It feels like a much better job than what the results have shown lately. I think Houston is a really, really good job, especially if you can get some influential donors involved in the NIL space. There's just so much natural homegrown talent in Houston -- talent levels at a program like that should be in a very, very good spot. In addition, I do think that facility as a whole needs some upgrades. The player facilities at UH are fantastic, but the facility itself could use an upgrade. I don't feel like it's fan friendly. I think UH is a sleeping giant. If DVH never wins a national title do you think he will be the best coach to never get a title? There's a man named Mike Martin that was pretty good. He would be second on that list.
  12. The LSU pitcher known for walks has not, only 1 to Atwood which may have been intentional. Locked in. Of course we help by not working the count. Respect for Torina not running Berzon back out. Overall, seems LSU has better pitching staff.
  13. At least Berzon did not get a full day rest. Though only 26 pitches, mental side plays a part.
  14. Touche. Should have specified pitching but did credit their hitting and fielding. Emotions seeing aggy jump to a 3-0 lead affected my reply.
  15. aggy 3-0 top of 1st first game of DH. Arkansas is not good. Their Friday starter has an ERA of 5.57 (conference) which is lowest for starters. Their success has been because of hitting .332 and fielding .984. and thus far playing the weaker members of the conference. Texas, LSU. and Tenn coming up. That said, sorry aggys have found their stride.

I think because Pete Hughes coached at Northeastern early in his career and is from the area. Recruits the area, has a couple of players on current roster now and in the past from nearby. Not good timing, suppose weather is a factor in scheduling prior to conference play.
  17. Excellent and correct explanation.
  18. Trying to find quotes/ info about LSU being swept, but could not. Did read they did not return to Baton Rouge and are likely in the ATX as we speak. Below are conference stats. We lead in hitting (.316) and pitching (3.12) but just starting challenging part of conference schedule. https://www.secsports.com/sport/softball/stats

D1 Chat Is Texas A&M back in the NCAA Tournament discussion after a sweep of South Carolina? I think so! Hi Eric -- the Aggies are definitely back in the discussion after finding a way to take that series at Tennessee and then doing what they really needed to do this weekend, which was sweep South Carolina. It wasn't easy, but they got it done. Now at 6-9 in the SEC and inside the top 50 in the RPI, they're definitely alive for an at-large spot, but they're gonna have to really earn it with series left at Arkansas and at Texas the next two weeks, with other series looming vs. LSU and at Georgia. That's grueling, but if they survive it and get to 12 or 13 SEC wins, they'll probably get in. Hey Fitt, just curious if you’re still selling that Texas stock you were two weeks ago? I’m sure there’s a few people who’d take it off your hands lol. All kidding aside, is Texas the favorite to win the SEC now? The schedule down the stretch is pretty favorable compared to Arkansas, Georgia and LSU. Ha! Is it too late to buy some of that stock back? I'm afraid the ship has sailed and I'm left holding the bag -- I blame my panic on the tariffs (and on Max Belyeu's injury, obviously). So very impressed with the way Texas has weathered the Belyeu injury and also the A-Rod injury, although it's good to see Rodriguez back now. I'm a convert; these Horns just have that it factor. They just win. And obviously they are very talented too, but man that grit is a separator. how about the Aggies this past weekend. Crazy weekend for the Aggies. Now it gets real again this weekend with a quick road trip to Arkansas followed by a series at Texas, and of course, LSU at home. What a hellacious three-week stretch for the Aggies, but there's no doubt this offense is clicking right now. As much as Caden Sorell's return has meant to this team, I'd argue the emergence of Bear Harrison has been as important. He's hitting north of .400 in SEC play with premium power. I still have some serious concerns about A&M's bullpen however. If Texas can hit 17 wins in the SEC, does that guarantee a Top 8 seed? If Texas only wins 17 league games, it would mean it finished the season pretty poorly. The Longhorns are already at 13 league wins and have 15 conference games left. So, I like the Longhorns' chances of eclipsing that 17-win mark. As for their case as a whole, looking to be in a very strong position for a top 8 seed down the stretch. Those guys just keep getting pieces to step up in big situations. Yesterday, it was Grayson Saunier being thrust into the action and delivering. Any realistic chance Oklahoma can fall and not be a host? SEC is loaded with locked-up hosts already. Of course. RPI is 25 and the Sooners still have Georgia, Ole Miss and Texas on the menu as opponents the remaining few weeks. Win two or all three of those series and the Sooners most definitely will be strongly in the hosting discussion. What’s a regional matchup you want to see? If I could setup the postseason perfectly, I would have Texas A&M go to TCU as a two or three seed, and have that regional paired with Texas. Better have the popcorn ready. How much of a threat is Auburn to host a Super? Feels like they’re on a good run right now but I think fans should hope to host a regional and be pleasantly surprised if they do better than that. Or do you view this squad as a legit CWS threat? Bryan -- if Auburn can consistently pitch the way it did against a very solid LSU lineup this past weekend on the Plains, there's no doubt the bar for this Auburn team is a trip to Omaha, and potentially even more. I'm intrigued to see how they pitch (on the road) against Texas this weekend. Does UTSA have an at-large bid locked up already? UTSA is in very very good shape right now with a 23 RPI and a dominant league record thus far. That's a scary, scary team, particularly offensively, in a regional, too
  20. Kentucky's announced starter for Sunday is not your typical Sunday starter with the best stats on the team for their starters. LHP Ben Cleaver, Soph, 2.36 ERA, .086 WHIP Seems he just became Sunday starter 2 series ago, will be his 9th start. https://ukathletics.com/sports/baseball/cumestats/season/2025/
  21. Interesting theory.
  22. https://stats.statbroadcast.com/statmonitr/?id=565515 8 hits, 18k's We are 4th worst in SEC with K's behind Ga, Ole Miss, and Mizzou. As mentioned above, need to put ball in play.
  23. AAS story explaining Weekly's strategy. Apparently, the norm as was also used vs OU. Among the negatives, it deprives fans of seeing a matchup of two premier pitchers. Game 3 does not have the aura of Game 1. (excerpts)
  24. We beat Pickens 2-1 last year in Clearwater. 6 hits, 1 run unearned. Early season, everyone normally improves. Besides speed, she can keep the ball low and has excellent movement. Probably the best we have faced since Canady. Remember this Tenn team took 2/3 from OU in Norman after inexplicably losing 2/3 to Ark the weekend before. They are 7-5 in conference and seem to be inconsistent but realize they need this series. Only hitting .239 in conference. Gets real with Tenn, LSU, and OU the next 3 weekends.
  25. Wow ! They lead the league with 88. We have 28. They also have 70 SBs in 30 games. Galvan will be tested, though we have 2 LH starters to offset that. Schloss makes an interesting comment in the OB vid with Zach Symms. Doesn't worry about the catcher's arm as much as the pitcher's motion. Having a super year. Happy for him. Also, seems to be blocking the ball much better. Need to erase my doubts. Coaching... SEC Stats https://www.secsports.com/sport/baseball/stats
