aggy hires former player Cliff Pennington as an asst coach. Popular former player, should help placate the fan base.
  2. Informative article from David Eckert, AAS. (excerpts) Note the comment about Root of Arkansas.
  3. Good article from the Chronicle worth a read including comments from Glasco and Canady's earlier injury. (excerpts) Joley Mitchell is a warrior. “Personally, I wanted it to be OU,” Mitchell said. “I mean, if you want to be the man, you’ve got to beat the man.” And even though the Sooners won’t be playing at Devon Park the rest of the week, more than a few of their fans are likely to show up in the stands. And whom do you think they’ll be rooting for? “Probably not us,” White said.
  4. Saint Mary's Gaels upset #8 seed Oregon St, 6-4. aggy says they dodged a bullet by not hiring Oregon St Coach Mitch Canham. Saint Mary's vs USC, Oregon St vs TCU If not aware, Sean Allen is the pitching coach for USC.
  5. And some “hope” for that to happen which is the point.
  6. Kendall from WBT's post #215 above. "It’s hard to bet against the Longhorns in a Regional in Austin, but this tournament will get interesting if one of these teams can extend UT to Monday" For you Kendall
  7. Shea O'Leary transferred to UT Tyler as a grad student in '23. Checking stats, she was 16-4 with a 1.51 era. Team finished 2nd at the DII CWS. Hope Shea is now successful in life and her Graves Disease is controlled. #LifetimeLonghorn
  8. Texas Softball has advanced to the Women’s College World Series for the second consecutive season and third time in the past four years! Join Longhorn Nation TOMORROW (Tuesday, May. 27) outside McCombs Field at 11:45 a.m. and give the Horns a Texas-sized send-off as they depart for Oklahoma City. Admission is FREE for all fans, and the first 250 fans will receive a limited-edition Women’s College World Series bound poster. The Texas Longhorns Official Team Shop will also be open for fans to gear up! Complimentary parking, courtesy of Texas Athletics, is available in Lot 115 on the east side of McCombs Field.
  9. Miss St defeats Washington 11-10 to earn the right to face Canady and Tech. Watching the game, Alabama football Coach DeBoer was there. His daughter is a freshman, 1B, led the team in hitting .363, 21 HR.
  10. Likely Tenn, 3PM, Thursday https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/college-sports/2025-sec-baseball-tournament-bracket-seeds-and-schedule-set/ar-AA1EYAiu
  11. Suggest multitasking with Texas/OU Baseball and watching Clemson/Northwestern. No score after 6. Good defense by both teams.
  12. Odd they did not bring in their #2 (Hoehn)when it was 5-3. Maybe injury. Clemson/Northwestern no score after 3.
  13. UCF 3-1 over Michigan after 5. Heat was really a factor for their starter Derkowsi who exited and Hoehn had walk issues. Derkowski face very flushed, receiving cold towels in the dugout. Would trade 2 players and a player to be named later for Michigan's 2B - awesome defender.
  14. AAS on Belyeu. "Hope Springs Eternal"
  15. In their conference tournaments, both UCF and Michigan started their #1 (Vega and Derkowski) on consecutive days and relieved with their #2 (Felton and Hoehn). No other pitchers saw action. Could see the same. Game is on ESPN2, 1PM, Friday Not really our problem. Our problem is which lineup (who plays where) will Mike White's dart board reveal. https://mgoblue.com/sports/softball/schedule https://ucfknights.com/sports/softball/schedule
  16. Reviewing, Michigan finished 8th in the B1G (11-11), 41 RPI, but went 4-0 in the tournament with shutout wins over Oregon (5-0) and UCLA (2-0). They were swept by both during the regular season. Oregon won the regular season, UCLA 3rd. Playing well at the right time. If they are like Minnesota, good fans who travel well. https://mgoblue.com/sports/softball/schedule

    2025 NCAA Baseball

D1 Chat excerpts. Boyd's World states no more wins needed to be Top 8. Hope they are right. http://boydsworld.com/baseball/rpi/rpineeds.html If we all realize RPI is a flawed metric. Why is that the cornerstone of what we use to determine host sites? I mean I think EVERY metric is flawed, is the thing -- if there were one infallible formula we could rely upon, we could just let the computers pick the field and not bother having any of these debates. That said, the RPI's flaws are well documented, and the committee has at least (finally!) taken steps toward improving the process, first by incorporating the KPI last year, and we think there's a real chance that DSR becomes part of the process soon, perhaps even next year. The committee has shown an interest in modernizing the process, and that's encouraging. But for now, RPI is still king (even if the power of its monarchy is showing signs of crumbling), so that's what we have to go by. If LSU takes 2/3 at South Carolina and a win or so in Hoover, do you believe they will be the #1 overall seed on Selection Monday? Gosh, this question is way more difficult than it feels like it should be this late in the season -- who the heck is going to be the No. 1 overall seed? Honestly it still feels wide open. Texas is STILL in first place, two games ahead of Arkansas and three ahead of LSU, and Texas does have the head-to-head edge over LSU, but not over Arkansas. Georgia and Auburn are ahead of all of them in the RPI, but behind in the standings. LSU is down at No. 7 in the RPI right now, which would be historically low for a No. 1 national seed, I suspect. I think LSU is deserving of being ranked No. 1 in our rankings, but the metrics don't love their case as much as our Top 25 methodology. So I would stop short of saying a series win vs. SC and a one in Hoover would get them the No. 1 national seed; that frankly might not be enough. Yes, Texas is at the top of the SEC standings, but do the Longhorns feel like a diminishing product right now? It feels like most #2 seeds would choose Austin over the next 4-5 SEC schools.. I think I'll be a little concerned about Texas if it goes on the road and once again doesn't do much offensively against Oklahoma. Riojas didn't look very good over the weekend, but otherwise the Longhorns did what was needed to be done from a pitching standpoint. I feel like the offense is starting to slip a bit.... maybe the book is finally out on some of these guys? At any rate, I would not want to enter the postseason having lost three-straight series if I'm Texas. Big weekend ahead from a confidence standpoint. How many of the Top 8 come from the SEC? at the moment you can argue 6 teams have legitimate top 8 resumes but will the committee allow that many from the SEC? you'd have to think LSU, Texas and Arkansas are locks. Right behind them UGA, Vandy and Auburn have practically identical resumes at this point so it's gonna be interesting to see how many the committee allows You're spot-on, it's so SEC heavy at the top right now. It's wild that the top ACC team in the RPI is Florida State at No. 9! And the only non-SEC interloper in the top 8 is Oregon State, which has its own resumé flaws (notably, the 0-4 against Oregon). I still think 6 of the top 8 feels too rich for the SEC, but I would bet on 5 when the dust settles. A&M is REALLY done now, right? Right??? Tell us they're done - please! Not done yet -- but the pulse is about 12 beats per minute. The Aggies will have to win the Georgia series AND do some damage in the SEC tournament with a win or two at minimum. The weird thing is this is still a team that could go on a run in the NCAA tournament, but it's not a crew, as of today, that deserves to be in the tourney. I expect things to get rather interesting in College Station in short order with the Aggies lose that series this weekend.\ Winning the SEC tournament looks to be the only path Texas A&M has to reach the post season, would you agree? If they lose in Hoover, would their season represent the biggest crash and burn in all of college baseball history? Are there any other teams that even come close?\ I don't think it's the only path. if A&M wins the Georgia series and gets to 15-16 wins in the conference tournament, I think it would likely easily be in the field at that point. But again, you're asking a team who is the opposite of consistent to win 4 or 5 games in the next 8-9 days.... I'm skeptical. Is this one of the best years for parity you guys have seen? Of the teams in the top 10: LSU,texas, georgia, auburn, vandy, & oregon state have all been swept, Florida State got run ruled twice at home in a series, and Arkansas has lost 4 of their last 5 series. Almost crazy to see - is this the most wide open title race in memory? I'm with you, it is the most wide open it's been in a long time (which feels weird to say considering 7 of the top 8 in the RPI are all SEC -- but again, there's really not a clear-cut favorite out of those 7 SEC teams). Wide open right now, and I think that's super fun. Let’s say Texas loses 2/3 at OU this weekend but still holds on to win the SEC because Arkansas only wins 2/3 against Tennessee. What do you do with Texas in terms of a top 8 seed? It feels harsh to push the SEC champ down outside the top 8 but that would mean they went 2-7 in their last 9 SEC games and we know the committee considers how well you’re playing late in the season. Texas would still be a top eight -- but probably in the 6-8 range instead of the top five. Boomer, does Oklahoma have enough gas in the tank to host or should I get ready to go up to Fayetteville? Randy -- I think OU is going to have to get to 16 wins minimum, probably 17 to host. A Texas series win this weekend would be a good start - I just think the Sooners are behind too many contenders at the moment. FYI -- OU cannot go to an SEC host.
  18. Warren Nolan's final RPI Live. Searching, some pundits have us as an overall 7 seed. Borrowing a phrase from @petscii "We'll see says the Zen Master". https://www.warrennolan.com/softball/2025/rpi-live

  20. Tech wins B12 regular season and conference championship tournament over Arizona. $1M plus and NIL to other transfers brings success. Regardless, I like and respect Glasco, happy for him.
  21. Edit: SECN+ Rain delay.
  22. Championship game moved to 12PM today due to weather, ESPN+ if interested.
  23. Arkansas leads the conference in fielding (.981) and thus far are making great plays. We are at .971 probably the highest in the MW era. https://www.secsports.com/sport/softball/stats (may have to click to get in right area) Above are conference only pitching stats. TK holds her on in most areas except opponents batting average. There is definitely reason to be concerned about her performance this year but as known there has been a significant increase in the level of competition. Perhaps the analytics of the approach to SEC hitters and of course the execution was not up to a championship level. TK and the coaches need to improve. As a team we are 2nd in the SEC with a 4.44 era. When an over 4 era is 2nd it makes a statement about the hitting.
