  1. It was written that Skaggs inherited his athletic ability from his Mom (high school softball coach, former player). First pitch from the rubber leaves no doubt.
  2. http://pointstreak.com/baseball/team_stats.html?teamid=3429&seasonid=31871&view=pitching&pset=1&orderby=era 4 in 8 IP with 1 HBP. Dang, I thought Kamron's WPs could have been affected by McCann but apparently not. imo, with professional level one on one instruction, Kamron could be a great one. Needs to learn to pitch instead of only throw hard - seems to try too much for the K. Was encouraged at the end of the year when he used off speed more, but must have regressed at the Cape. Also, needs to focus only on pitching.
  3. Update above. Did not complete earlier due to board issues.
  4. Update. Merryman had an excellent game. Kubichek and Madden also having excellent Summers. Kennedy continues to rake. (As mentioned, stats are not easy to obtain thus not all players listed) You guys on twitter give a shout out to Danny Davis for the updates. Team USA defeats Mexico and Puerto Rico by identical scores, 7-0. Championship game: 11AM, Sunday, ESPN, vs Japan. Based on the pitching rotation in the past 3 games, seems Cat will start ?
  7. More on the story. Well respected coach. RIP. (Like the Tyler Skaggs tragedy, another case for all to monitor their health) Longtime University of Louisiana baseball coach Tony Robichaux has died, less than two weeks after suffering a major heart attack. He was 57. Robichaux coached the Ragin’ Cajuns for 25 seasons, winning 914 games, reaching 12 NCAA Regionals, four Super Regionals and the 2000 College World Series. His teams won eight Sun Belt Conference championships, most recently in 2016. Robichaux fell ill on June 23, and underwent two surgical procedures in recent days. The school’s athletic department issued an update on his condition last Sunday, noting that Robichaux was hospitalized in intensive care and that his family “asks specifically for prayer during this time.” https://ragincajuns.com/news/2019/7/3/tony-robichaux-longtime-louisiana-baseball-head-coach-passes-away-at-57.aspx
  8. Best of Luck in the future to both. Glad Schattle is completing her degree. Since he recruited her, hope MW assists in finding a team to utilize Espinosa's talent. She has potential, imo.
  9. Machinator answered above. Stats/Rosters for the Summer Leagues are not easily available and sometimes inaccurate (rosters). To their credit, this is the first year the AAS has attempted to update, iirc. The first link is for Cape Cod stats if anyone wants to search. The second link indicates Ellis and C. Williams were released from Cotuit (scroll down). It is my understanding that a player can be released because he has commitments at home or due to roster reduction by the team. With due respect to the players, I was a bit surprised they went to the Cape due to their resume. Pierce must have contacts. As an example, Merryman, the juco transfer, is now listed on the roster for Chatham (Cape Cod). Lastly, though the Summer League stats are lacking they are receiving excellent coaching. Tom Holliday is the head coach at Chatham and Dennis Cook is the pitching coach. Don't have time to search the other teams. In addition, the Cape is the top echelon of college baseball players. http://www.capecodbaseball.org/stats/2019-statistics/ https://www.kettleers.org/roster/

  12. Thanks for the link. Seems they are withholding at family's request.
  13. Was that autopsy or toxicology ? A preliminary autopsy can normally be released within 24-48 hrs.
  14. Opinion, BV ? Seems they went with Harrington's recommendation ? Wish Texas St well. SAN MARCOS (KXAN) — Texas State assistant Steven Trout has been named the Bobcats newest head baseball coach, Texas State Athletic Director Dr. Larry Teis announced Monday. “To me, it’s an exciting day because once this press conference is over it’s time to go to work,” Trout said at his introduction. Trout’s baseball journey is coming full circle at Texas State— from volunteer assistant in 2009 and 2010 to becoming the program’s fifth head baseball coach. After a three-year stint at West Virginia, Trout returned to Texas State in 2016 working as an assistant under Ty Harrington. Trout served predominately as the team’s hitting and fielding coach, and was promoted to associate head coach and recruiting coordinator two years ago. “When we sat down and visited at length with Coach Trout, his love for the game of baseball, integrity to run a baseball program, ability to connect with young men and his passion to win the championships was evident,” Teis said in a statement. After 20 seasons leading Texas State baseball, Harrington announced two weeks ago that he was stepping down from the position. Trout says he learned how to run a program from Harrington’s tutelage. “Steven is one of the most talented, knowledgeable, committed, creative and loyal persons and coach that is involved with college baseball. Parents have entrusted their most prized possessions (their children) to him to develop them on and off the field. He will be a superstar in this business as a head coach,” Harrington said in a release about the hiring. https://www.kxan.com/sports/texas-state-hires-assistant-steven-trout-to-run-bobcats-baseball-program/
  15. No confirmation, is there access to the portal ? Reviewed the UCLA site/sched, appears she was the #2 catcher, didn't see any time at 1B. Has power that MW likes. Strange that she would transfer from the team that won the national championship. And the other catchers on the roster are Seniors except for one (Moreno) a Freshman C/IF that did not play in '19. Maybe a top recruit coming in ? But still... csb warning: Once had a conversation with a coach (not Texas) who in the conversation said "Coaching the game is not difficult, ensuring the young ladies get along is the challenge."
  16. Any pay site reports on the change from Stephen Whalen ? Couch is from the Univ of San Diego. "More than anything, what separated Matt is his pitching background. He pitched at USD and was considered a very elite pitcher. Matt understands how strength and conditioning and speed and agility work not only enhance baseball players but also how it specifically improves pitcher's performance and helps maintain their health. He has a great energy and passion for the game of baseball and for competing at the highest level."

  19. The CWS Home Run Derby is scheduled to be replayed tonight at 7PM, ESPNU. Huston Street's interview as an indcutee to the CWS HoF occurs at about the 1 hour mark into the broadcast (if not edited out). He gives a great interview, flashes the 'Horns Up as he is introduced, talks about the impact of playing college baseball at Texas, and the CWS. Great interview and worth a view.
  20. Coaches in the HoF have won multiple titles and/or multiple appearances. Good point. Won the title in '49, '50 with multiple appearances. Statesman needs to nominate him. 22. David Hamilton @D_Ham27 This obviously wasn't how I saw my junior year going. Sitting out this year was hard. I wanted to make Texas proud. I can't wait to get my career started with the @Brewers this week, but Longhorn Nation, I'm so honored that I got to be your shortstop. Hook 'Em forever. 1,075 8:48 PM - Jun 28, 2019 Luv the highlighted comment. Best of Luck, David ! And this is how highly the Brewers thought of him. Hamilton’s injury did not scare off the Brewers, who declined to select another infielder in the draft’s first 14 rounds. https://www.hookem.com/2019/06/29/drafted-by-milwaukee-david-hamilton-announces-his-departure-from-texas-baseball-team/

  24. Yes, previously diagnosed. After trying to get out of bed and falling down after the 2007 football season NFL prospect Tyler Campbell, youngest son of Earl and Reuna Campbell, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. The team doctor at San Diego State University had suspicions that this situation stemmed from a football injury obtained during practice or a game. After an MRI, the results pointed to MS. Keeping the diagnosis a secret from his teammates, Tyler continued to play football during the 2008 season and went on to graduate from San Diego State University with a degree in Business Administration. Following his Pro Day at San Diego State in 2009, Tyler had a relapse and his neurologist permanently sidelined his dreams of playing in the NFL. Tyler remained in positive spirits, stating “When one door closes, another opens and I view my diagnosis as an opportunity to share my experience and help others.” Since that time, he has become an active ambassador for the Pro Player Foundation and the National MS Society. “I view my MS diagnosis as a blessing,” he said. “I now have the opportunity to share my journey and empower others living with this disease to make an impact on the MS community.” https://www.nationalmssociety.org/Get-Involved/Personal-Stories/Ambassadors-Familiar-Faces/Tyler-Campbell
