  1. The postgame press conf for Texas is not yet posted on YouTube. But if you see a rerun of Texas Game Day Final, check Sam's comments. Berry Tramel (OU Sportswriter): "Sam, you have faced 3 different OU defensive coordinators. What was different about this defense compared to the one you faced last year ?" Sam: "They did a really good job of swarming the football. Obviously, they recruit extremely well and have tremendously talented players and I feel like they just let them go make plays opposed to trying to do a whole bunch of complex stuff. They just let them be athletes and do a tremendous job at that." That could be perceived as a message to Orlando. That is the problem, my friends. As Scipio has stated, Orlando needs to simplify the scheme, concentrate on fundamentals, and let the players play Players are too concerned about making a mistake in the scheme.
  2. Went to weather.com to check local weather (Texas) and saw this headline story. Denver area today.
  3. Rendon is a class act. Enjoyed seeing him play vs Texas during his Rice career. Great player and person in victory or defeat.
  4. Watched most of the Tech/OkSt game. Duffy looked good. Most impressed by the Tech DB's. Very fast, good skills, always in position.* Stats say Harlan was only 11/85 and OKSt had only 290 in passing. OU game must have been an awakening. *Disclaimer - This view is from a Texas fan whose team currently ranks last in pass defense in the B12. https://big12sports.com/stats.aspx?path=football&year=2019
  5. Anyone know what became of Whitman (ardent WVU fan and quality poster) ? Engineer, cool guy, these WVU threads aren't the same without him.
  6. https://www.smokingmusket.com/2019/10/1/20893592/neal-brown-press-conference-week-5-big-game-mentality Link has summary of Neal Brown's press conference. Brown seems to be a bright, young coach Homecoming Game It’s a big game, obviously it’s. It’s going to be a great atmosphere. We’re going to need our crowd, we’re going to need our students. The home-field, 50th anniversary of the Peach Bowl team. Looking forward to meeting some of those guys Friday night. Fan Rivalry vs. Texas I get the feeling of that, I’m not sure why. I haven’t played in the game, but I do feel like this is one our fans are excited about and one they talk about in the offseason \ On the Horns Down Penalty: Are still talking about that? To me, it’s much ado about nothing. I’d rather build up West Virginia than tear anyone else down
  7. Not a mechanic, but suggest you search for a Ridgeline Owner Forum online. Some may have experienced the same issues. Or just search the issue - lot of info online. Did the dealer check the emission system or give cause for the light coming on ? That may contribute to the jerking. Or perhaps the transmission torque converter. Consider taking the truck to another dealer if that option is available. "Missing an update" does not sound ideal for competent service.
  8. Luv your energy, Lobo. 😊 We should be much better, definitely more experienced. Summer Ball seemed to help quite a few players. I think the addition of Huston and Tulo will benefit Coach Pierce more than the players. Hopefully, he will glean from them the importance of patience and confidence. He is very fortunate to have them, imo. They could be a savior. I think Coach Pierce will be challenged to manage the coaching staff. He did say Huston is not the pitching coach. The player's perception will be important - there can be too many cooks in the kitchen. I do hope Huston and Tulo are not the focus of the LHN broadcast and Galindo's commentary.
  9. RIP, Hal. Thoughts and prayers for his family. A perfectionist at his craft, a humble man. Enjoyed a few conversations I had with him pregame. A friend of mine coaches youth softball in Austin. Hal would volunteer his services for their field when needed. Hal will never be forgotten by those who knew him. He was an example of people who work behind the scenes to make the Longhorn Nation go.
  10. Nice insight. What is the answer at LB ? In his limited PT, Mitchell seems to be all over the field. Small, but aggressive.
  11. Lifetime memories for these kids. Check the expressions on their faces. Houston Astros Alex Bregman greets members of the Eastbank Little League from New Orleans, who recently won the Little League World Series during batting practice before the start of an MLB baseball game at Minute Maid Park, Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019, in Houston. Bregman and starting pitcher Gerrit Cole started a carousel of Astros who came over to sign autographs and speak with the club from Eastbank Little League “You guys are famous,” Cole bellowed as he came over. https://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/astros/article/Alex-Bregman-Little-League-World-Series-Louisiana-14458258.php#photo-18302453

    Yancy McKnight

Good Yancy story (lengthy, exerpts only). CDC aligned the stars. McKnight was 33 at the time coach Todd Graham hired him as the Rice strength coach. That 2006 season was rather special based on current standards. The Owls had gone 1-10 the previous year. Going 7-6 and reaching the New Orleans Bowl was a raving success. Graham bolted for Tulsa after that season, and McKnight went along for the ride. Back in Houston, then-Rice athletic director Chris Del Conte made the rare decision to let athletes give input on the search committee. The overwhelming message? Get McKnight Del Conte, never one to let finances stand in the way, offered McKnight a salary he couldn’t refuse. New Owls coach David Baliff re-hired the Rice strength coach along with a slew of other new assistants — including Herman, his 31-year-old offensive coordinator from Texas State. “He’s a guy that you just respect the hell out of,” former Rice quarterback Chase Clement told the American-Statesman in 2017. “I just feel like there’s nobody in our program that had more respect than Yancy. He was very fair. He just knows how to push you.” Herman spent two years at Rice and left for Iowa State in 2009. McKnight followed him to Ames and had a three-hour interview with coach Paul Rhoades. The Cyclones’ offensive coordinator and strength coach were both pivotal to Iowa State’s monumental 28-21 upset win in Austin in 2010. Like anyone rising in their profession, McKnight had been around long enough to see who were rising stars and who weren’t. McKnight knew Herman was going places. “When he left to go to Ohio State (in 2012), I told him, ‘Whenever you get that shot, let me know,’” McKnight said. “To be honest with you, it was kind of like wherever.” McKnight truly didn’t care where they ended up. Herman interviewed for the Connecticut job prior to the 2013 season. “He asked me and I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m in,’” McKnight said. “That’s the way I felt about it, to be honest with you.” Herman wouldn’t get his first head coaching shot until Houston in 2015. McKnight packed up his cold-weather gear in Ames and couldn’t move fast enough. “A lot of people say why would you leave a Big 12 job to go to Houston or wherever,” McKnight said. “You just know what you know and what your belief is. Seeing the success at Rice, Iowa State and then at Ohio State, with their offensive success there, just had a pretty good hunch that he was going to be a good head guy.” https://www.hookem.com/columns/eyes-texas-tom-herman-yancy-mcknights-pairing-rice-started-long-road-ut/
  14. https://sports.yahoo.com/behind-the-scenes-with-texas-football-190915598.html siap, but just saw above article from Pete Thamel, Yahoo Sports, who apparently was with the team for all of last week. Lengthy, but a great read that gives insight on what the team does during game week. The following excerpt demonstrates the classless LSU fans and apparently some aggy and OU fans. Considering Orgeron's locker room remark and this I hope we never consider playing LSU again after this contract. On Friday morning, Texas special teams coordinator Derek Warehime’s phone rang from a South Dakota number. He answered: “Jake’s Mule Barn, how can I help you?” The caller sheepishly said they got the wrong number and hung up. Not long after, Warehime’s phone rang again from a Baton Rouge number. The call proceeded this way: Is this Derek? Absolutely not. I’m looking for Derek with the football staff. I don’t know any Dereks with any football staffs. How can I help you? You guys ready for the big game? There’s a big game? Yeah, LSU plays Texas. You kidding me? They playing today? No, it’s Saturday. GameDay is going to be there. That’s Awesome! I guess I might find me a ticket, now that I know. LONG PAUSE All I’ve got for you is a nice big f--- you from the LSU Tigers. With all of their game-planning done and only a walkthrough remaining on Friday, much of the conversation around the football facility shifted to a rash of prank phone calls and vulgar texts from LSU fans that began late Thursday. A picture of a staff phone number list from two years ago got released onto Instagram, which meant a flood of calls from LSU fans to the Texas coaches. (Only Hand was spared.) Soon after, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and other fan bases caught on and followed. Ehlinger also got flooded with calls, as by Saturday morning he’d received more than 2,000 texts from LSU fans on his old phone. He attributed it to a fraternity there, but was largely unbothered because he’d already switched primary phones. The invasion was greeted with a mix of reactions from the staff. There was plenty of laughter and mocking of the crude LSU fans’ spelling and accents. Ehlinger joked in the offensive staff room that he could picture a caller, who’d made multiple crude references to a tiger’s anatomy, sitting on his couch with “three teeth and a bottle of whiskey.” The calls weren’t all sophomoric humor. Strength coach Yancy McKnight got a call from a blocked number that left a voicemail in which the caller threatened to kill McKnight’s family. “You’ll find your family hung in the kitchen with their throats slit,” the voicemail to McKnight said. The caller punctuated with the message: “F--- you.” As of Sunday, Texas officials were pondering how to handle that specific phone call. Many of the messages vacillated between tasteless and offensive. Herman received a message calling him a racial slur and there were multiple messages containing homophobic remarks. Nearly every staff member and some support staff members received dozens and dozens of calls and texts, including Lovo and operations director Tory Teykl, who was called “mom.” The calls and messages came so furiously on Friday that when Herman pulled out his phone after an hour walkthrough, there were 38 texts, seven missed calls and a missed FaceTime. One of the text threads Herman was included on was called Ed O’s Shrimp Boat.
  15. https://www.businessinsider.com/texas-lsu-band-nosebleed-seats-2019-9?utm_source=hearst&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=allverticals The fake news locker room story and the national media story calling the LSU band seating "petty" is receiving coverage. Are there other stadiums that seat the visiting band that high ? Not the ones I have visited.
  16. @sushi - Please address the safety play for us which I thought was horrendous. Michael Griffin commented that BJones appears to be having difficulty adjusting to PJ Locke's role playing close to the los. Sterns was very, very tentative - I had rather see him overrun a play that sit back and do nothing. May be Orlando's scheme ?
  17. Herman/Burrow relationship story from Baton Rouge paper. (excerpts) In the midst of his official visit to Ohio State in December 2014, Joe Burrow sat in a meeting with his family, Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer and offensive coordinator Tom Herman. Burrow had committed to Ohio State earlier that year, after Herman convinced Meyer to offer him a scholarship. During his recruitment, Burrow didn’t receive many offers to major schools. Herman believed in him, one of the only coaches at Ohio State who did. As Burrow approached signing day, reports swirled about Houston’s interest in Herman, who had just won the Broyles Award as the nation’s top assistant. Burrow knew Houston would probably offer Herman the job. The son of a college coach, Burrow understood the profession. Herman’s phone rang in the midst of Burrow’s visit. Herman stepped out of the room. He never came back. Later, Burrow and his family discovered the call had come from Houston, telling Herman it had sent a private plane for him. Almost five years have passed, and on Tuesday afternoon, Burrow sat inside LSU’s practice facility as the starting quarterback for the Tigers. He signed with Ohio State out of high school, but he left as a graduate transfer after his sophomore year and came to LSU. Herman spent two years at Houston before he took the head coaching job at Texas. And now, on Saturday, LSU and Texas will play a game that pushes the winner toward a spot in the College Football Playoff. “I owe a lot to coach Herman,” Burrow said. “He was the only coach from big-time programs that had any faith in me.” After Herman took the job at Houston, Burrow re-evaluated his decision. He had about two months before national signing day. Ohio State hired Tim Beck as its new offensive coordinator a month later, and Burrow’s father called Meyer, expressing the family’s concerns. They didn’t know Beck. “Well,” Meyer said, “what do we need to do?” “We need to get coach Beck into our home,” Burrow’s father said. Burrow’s family arranged an in-home visit a few days after Beck took the job, talking with Meyer and a coach they were meeting for the first time. The conversations solidified Burrow’s commitment. After two years at Ohio State, Burrow decided to transfer. He had not played much. He thought about Texas but landed at LSU, where he led the Tigers to a 10-win season. After Burrow won Fiesta Bowl offensive player of the game honors, Herman texted him congratulations. https://www.hookem.com/story/texas-tom-herman-lsus-joe-burrow-already-history/
  18. Orgeron presser. Nothing really remarkable. At the 4 :00 mark discussion is about a LSU play that is difficult to stop. Texas blitz is mentioned several times. Playing on turf is mentioned 3-4 times. Orgeron says he talked with LaTech about field conditions and LSU will practice on turf.
  19. And also liked his demeanor - relaxed and confident.

  22. Thanks for posting ! Thoughts and prayers for a great man and his family.
  23. Was the update a Windows Update or Chrome update ? If it was a Windows Update, you may consider uninstalling to see if the update was the culprit. You may also want to install an earlier version of Chrome or Chrome Canary which will will run compatible with regular Chrome to test.
