  1. And to tie that into the topic of this thread, more people equals more customers to support all these locally owned businesses. And I don't have any data to back this up, but I speculate restaurants/bars/shops that have a large population in the neighborhood have an advantage over those relying solely on people driving from 5 to 10 miles away.
  2. It's more nuanced than this, but anti-growth councils have contributed to Austin's affordability issues. Limit supply in high growth, desirable areas to appease NIMBY neighborhood activists, and this is what you end up with. Token 5 story apartments along a few commercial strips add what, maybe 10,000 units in 78704 for example? The Austin metro has added over 500,000 people in the last 10 years. West Campus style zoning over many, many square miles of the central city would solve the issue, but would seem an impossibility given our electorate.
  3. I got stimulated! Now to decide if the hookers or blow comes first...
  4. I'm "essential", though not essential enough to work 40 hours a week anymore. My hours have been cut to 25 hours a week. But I'm not complaining because I am able to receive unemployment for my lost hours. Plus the extra $600 week the federal government is paying. I have to say it is pretty fucking nice working only five hours days while bringing home substantially more income. I almost feel guilty.

  6. To all that have not received your stimulus yet I may offer some hope. Until today I would receive the, "Payment Status Not Available" message when checking on the IRS website. Finally today I got confirmation that I will receive a payment via direct deposit on 4/22/20.
  7. This is a Longhorns sports forum, bro. I don't need to take the care to do shit. Nobody is basing anything off what I post here unless they're fucking stupid. I think we all know to take any and all data from any source with a grain of salt.
  8. Why? Because the lower CFR makes you feel better? You know there are a lot more deaths than reported as well, right? Should we guess how many cases we think there are, and guess how many deaths there are, and use that number instead? Feel free to do so if you want. I won't feel the need to quote you, and tell you how ridiculous I think you are.
  9. It's certainly not perfect, but it's all we have at the moment. People should be able to use some discernment, and realize that while the data is far from impeccable, it is still worthy of observation.
  10. If you don't like the data fuck off. You can put me on ignore if it bothers you.
  11. I'm still getting the dreaded, "Payment Status Not Available" message when checking on the status. I certainly qualify on income, have done my 2019 taxes and already received a refund via direct deposit. So it goes.
  12. Furk. I use Turbotax. I wonder how long I have to wait for my stimulus now...
  13. I should have quoted the source of the data posted was Worldometers. https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/
  14. World 4/15/2020 Confirmed cases - 2,086,477 Deaths - 138,619 CFR - 6.6% United States 4/15/2020 Confirmed cases - 648,148 Deaths - 32,588 CFR - 5.0%
  15. Same. I got a text notification telling me of a deposit. So I tried to login on my bank app, but no can do. It's "Temporarily Unavailable".
  16. As far as I can tell it's full steam ahead again.
  17. Buncha social justice warrior soybois hating on this man. Wives with disobedience issues need to be corrected.
  18. Two words: Surly's Cantina
  19. All of Surly should pool our stimulus money together and do something world changing. Think big, guys!
