  1. People in Texas used to use streetcars to get around, just like they still do all around the world. The difference is everyone else did not stupidly tear out or abandon their tracks like much of the United States did. We now have 70 plus years of highway expansions, and development patterns which prioritize 5000 pound, fossil fuel burning machines to move people's lard asses to go anywhere. This has not been a good experiment. It has failed. It has been bad for our cities, bad for our environment, and bad for our health. The future is not to continue sprawling farther out into the hinterlands, and neverending multi-billion dollar freeway expansions into what was formerly farm land.
  2. Exactly, and no one bats an eye when billions and billions are spent on highways year after year after year. And as a disclaimer I fully support highway expansion as well. I just believe we shouldn't put virtually all of our eggs in one basket in perpetuity. I think it's okay to support alternative forms of transport than the automobile. I also believe there shouldn't be a double standard for mass transit. If a billion dollars is spent expanding a highway no one believes all of our transportation problems will evaporate. If it saves you 5 or 10 minutes on your commute it's considered a smashing success. There are times it won't be near capacity. Does that mean it was an enormous waste? And no one believes a road is going to pay for itself either, at least not without going into massive debt by issuing bonds and then charging tolls. Even then it takes many decades to pay for itself, if it doesn't default. Oh yeah, and we all know how much every one loves toll roads. Transportation is for the common good like education or the fire department. Maybe you went to private school, and have never needed to call 911. That's great, but you still pay for those services.

  5. Looking great! The stadium atmosphere is going to be so much better with the south endzone enclosed.

  8. So wait, people are giving the POTUS shit for visiting a church which was burned down by commie terrorists?!? Maybe it's just me, but the outrage seems a bit misplaced. WTF? Is this real life?

I may have to check out Soccer Corner. I've wanted that training jersey for a while, but every time I look online the Large size is always sold out.

    Planet X

It exists, and will cause a pole reversal of Earth. The ensuing chaos will set humanity back a millennia at least. That's what the global stay at home orders are really about. Covid-19 is just a cover story. Nibiru is becoming more visible around the globe, and TPTB are trying to conceal the truth as long as possible. The end is nigh, folks. Very fucking nigh!
  11. But what happens to Walrus Wednesdays?
  12. Dude looks like an incredible baller, especially at his height and length. But yeah, he needs about 8,000 calories a day, and a some major strength training.

Not sure if anyone is interested, but I stopped by the Academy on Brodie Ln. yesterday and noticed they have Austin FC merchandise for sell. The selection isn't all that great, unfortunately. The single shirt style they had in stock is pretty lame, but I did pick up a nice hat.
  14. Stopped at the Buda HEB yesterday, and it seemed at least a quarter of shoppers did not have face coverings.
  15. Awesome pic of Ricky, but looking at it in 2020 the shoulder pads do look ridiculously large.
  16. Yeah, I don't think there are going to be any obstructed views of the playing field.
  17. I need to hit up Valentina's soon. I used to live off Frate Barker, and ate there at least once a week. I'm not all that close now, so it's been a while.
  18. And there is an unused freight rail line owned by Capital Metro very nearby to the tract in question. It is also along the Mokan ROW. Add in a soon to be completed major upgrade to 183, and the airport just a few miles away, and the site could be a winner.
  19. Austin has a closed Motorola facility on 183 in East Austin that could possibly work if they want to repurpose an existing facility.
