Trump is not a President or statesman at all. He’s not a leader that independent people would willfully follow. He’s 1 part entitled rich kid, 2 parts Christian Bale’s character from American Psycho and 3 parts Cletus’ inflamed sense of societal rejection. That’s it. His only skills are a lust for conflict, a self-confidence that is as unshakable as it is unwarranted, a savvy understanding of base human nature, a knack for media manipulation and a complete void of conscience that allows him to operate unconstrained by ethics or morality.
Whatever dubious success he has had is because of those qualities. He’s never won anything, only rigged it so he couldn’t lose. Never led anyone, only coerced them to do what he wants. Never made anything great, just played with it for a bit, fucked it up, then lost interest and moved on when it threatened his narcissists self-image.

Dude was an absolute badass that took drumming to new heights and inspired multiple generations to take it from there. Rest in peace.

Yep. We have one chance to overcome it. Then it's Ledge time.
Yeah, but I mean the last free and fair democratic election in our history might have been in 2012. There might not be a legitimate chance to overcome Trump via election this fall. Certainly if Trump and the GOP could ensure a victory by subverting the will of the people, they would jump at the opportunity. No one, least of all the Dems, should assume that we still live in a representative democracy where voters sick of Trump's shit will be able to correct the problem.

Maybe that’s Nancy’s 9D chess, keep impeachment a threat for as long as possible so the country is effectively run by the R senate instead of DOTUS
I think Nancy and a lot of people are still behind the curve. Dems are like, "Trump is a threat to democracy!" Trump and the R's are like:
Our last free and fair democratic Presidential election could have very well taken place 8 years ago. -

I am tempted but would need to work a trade w/my ES-330 to make it work and I don’t think I’m ready to do that yet.

Had a $2300 price tag on it. It played and sounded very nice, but I didn’t inspect it thoroughly. Most of the paint is gone from the back of the neck (looked great) and the the pots are no longer level with the body (didn’t affect usability).

Stopped at a little local guitar repair store and fondled this pretty gal. 1972 Gibson ES-325 with mini humbuckers. It played and sounded great. No faux relic here.

As mentioned above, I had been looking at different 'drum pedals' like Beat Buddy and SDrum, but was shying away due to concerns about their flexibility and my being afraid of the learning curve required.
So, I bought an Alesis SR16 drum machine. Just plug it into a channel on the board and messed with it for about 30 minutes last night. I am going to LOVE this thing once I get two pedals to control the A/B patterns and the fills. It was $150. Pedals are $15 each. I like it better than the pedal drum machines for a bunch of reasons.
1) It starts with 50 basic patterns rock/ballad/country/jazz/reggae etc that are then editable
2) You can see the BPM on the screen and easily change that on the fly.
3) The A/B patterns make it easy to quickly change the pattern to use for verse/chorus changes.
4) It has an easy to read screen that shows all the info you need.
5) It seems pretty intuitive and building 'songs' seems relatively easy and also easy to edit/save/recall them.https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SR16--alesis-sr-16-drum-machine
It also has a fairly small footprint (9"x7") and weighs less than 3lb.
BTW, I went with these two:

Without the Bluetooth. They have been on sale with the bluetooth model coming out. Now, to get all of my wife's shit/holiday decoration staging area out of my guitar room. The Struggle is Real
Are you playing a guitar through an amp alongside the PA? Or using some sort of DI rig?

Iran's not done retaliating, but depending on how things go now the rest of their revenge may take a vastly different (and more tolerable) form and it may not happen for awhile.
My guess for now is that Pompeo and Esper want a war but know we don't have the necessary forces in the region, so they'll encourage Trump to take the offramp Iran is giving him. Trump doesn't have a huge war boner (he just has a constant need to look tough) so might take it. But Pompeo will keep pushing further escalatory action, forcing Iran to respond and goad Trump into supporting a war in a situation where doing so is the only way he can look tough.
At this point our best hope is that Iran understands all of this and refuses to engage with further escalation in a hope to avoid further hostilities before the election. If Trump is reelected, Pompeo will absolutely get his war.
Exactly. Hell, they are not done retaliating for stuxnet. Before anyone wants to proclaim victory in the middle east, I think important to remember that it is in Iran's best interest to:
- Avoid a full-on war with the US that would result in their government being destroyed
- Make some visible but relatively benign show of force that allows them to say they did something
- Focus the majority of their efforts on less overt attacks that allows them to damage the US while avoiding annihilation
They carried out #2 and said they are good with that. That shows they have an understanding of #1. What remains to be seen is whether #3 comes to pass. I think basic human nature dictates it will.

12 months? In this part of the world we wont know for decades. And that could mean anything up to 100 decades.
Well, we will at least know of proximal effects if not everything that they will lead to.

Anyone who thinks they know how this has played out three days later is an idiot. If this ineffectual retaliation by Iran is where it ends, then the President’s risky decision paid off. Let’s see if he can shut the fuck up and take the win (pussy).
We won’t really know the effects of this decision for another 12 months, perhaps longer.

Mobile GarageBand is actually pretty fun. You need some sort of guitar interface if you want to record electric, and the iPad mic is surprisingly decent for recording acoustic. Plus I like that you can “play” some of the other parts on the iPad as virtual instruments.
Examples (I’ve posted these before maybe on TOS):
Me noodling around with the Breedlove after I got it. Guitar recorded with the iPad mic, bass “played” by me using a GarageBand virtual instrument, and ham handed percussion played on the iPad too.
This is the first time I used the iRig to record electric, trying three different tones in GarageBand. Bass I played on iPad, drums too. Pretty decent guitar tones IMO. Nothing really happens after 1:30.
Here’s a bluegrassy version of a Bon Jovi song. Guitar and mandolin recorded with iPad mic, bass played on iPad, drums are a loop, organ played by me on the iPad.
I can’t get the hang of a real recording software package, even GarageBand on the Mac. I get overwhelmed immediately.
One tip: you can’t use Bluetooth headphones with GarageBand for iOS. The latency is too bad.Cool songs, @buzzrock! Ditto what Chad said about the Bon Jovi cover. You took it somewhere new, which is what I always want a cover to do. It is really a great time to be a musician, at least from a tooling standpoint.

Let's do just a short intellectual exercise here.
Imagine that the US was a company, and you were a shareholder in said company. It comes to your attention that the leadership of the company is repeatedly doing slap-dick shit like this -- inadvertently sending out major pieces of correspondence on the direction of the company, inadvertently copying the competition on internal emails, the CEO is regularly making decisions that require board approval without getting such approval, and the board maintains that they are not concerned by that, the CEO is making impulsive decisions that repeatedly ignore the advice of the expert consultants that the company has on staff to analyze specific issues, the CEO refuses to even read the short briefings put together by those consultants, the CEO is booking company events at his private properties, charging the company top-dollar to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars....and well, we could go on.
How in the BLUE FUCK would you not be at the next shareholders meeting trying to vote every fucking one of the current board members out, and demanding that the CEO be terminated immediately thereafter? You'd be the dumbest goddamned shareholder the world has ever seen if you DIDN'T do that....but we have millions of people who think that this is cool, cool.
We are Moronistan, the worst of all the stans.
Can we short America?

Man, these DLR Vegas clips I’ve seen are worse than bad. It’s not a couple hours of nostalgic escape for the audience, just a sad reminder that your youth is gone and Father Time spares no one.
