  1. Hope House is raising funds to recover and rebuild after the storm. Donations can be made at www.hopehousekids.org. Hope House, a group home that has served profoundly disabled children since 1966, was one of the hardest-hit facilities in the area. Early Saturday morning, floodwaters began pouring into the building. The 13 medically fragile children living there, along with three staff members, were evacuated by a combination of military helicopters from Fort Hood and local emergency crews. https://cbsaustin.com/news/local/after-deadly-flooding-recovery-begins-in-wilco-including-a-group-home-for-disabled-kids#
  2. Thank you for your faith in me kind sir. ♥️😃
  3. This is a good link to follow for those being reunited with their missing family pets. The link is also posting found pets and missing pets.
  4. SIAP The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter is urgently seeking foster families after taking in approximately 60 additional animals following an evacuation order for the Lampasas Animal Shelter. The shelter is requesting foster help starting at noon for dogs, cats and kittens with special needs, and bottle baby kittens too young for adoption. Those able to help are asked to come to the shelter to fill out a brief registration form and be matched with a pet based on their ability to provide care during the emergency. https://cbsaustin.com/news/local/williamson-county-shelter-seeks-fosters-after-lampasas-evacuation-adds-60-animals#
  5. Damnit. I hate stupid idiots.
  6. For anyone who buys James Avery jewelry or charms: James Avery Artisan Jewelry – founded in Kerrville, Texas – announced that it's committing $1 million to support the needs of the community and the road to recovery, focusing on food, shelter, mental health care and other critical needs that emerge. In addition, from now until Aug. 4, the company will donate 100% of the proceeds from its "Deep in the Heart of Texas" charm to relief efforts in Kerrville and surrounding communities. James Avery said the charm has always "celebrated the pride and resilience of our state" and now carries a deeper meaning. "To all those affected, we send our love, strength, and heartfelt prayers," the company wrote. "And to the first responders and neighbors who have stepped in with open hands and open hearts, we offer our deepest gratitude."
  7. I did want to mention a miracle of sorts amidst all the rescues that have already happened (I think sadly we all know our missing campers were long gone before we even knew to pray for them): the 1:30 am lightning/thunder. several campers spoke of this and counselors have too in various interviews. It was obviously close and super loud and woke all the campers up. And it was this loud noise that may have saved many lives as it appears unfortunately many were in harm’s way. I wish they all could have been spared, we all do. I just pray for everyone who lost someone in the floods this weekend. 🙏🏼❤️‍🩹💔
  8. I see that Travis/Williamson counties are under a flood watch through 7 pm. What is the likelihood those of us further north (think Cedar Park, Roundrock and Georgetown) could get slammed with a couple of inches of rain this afternoon?
  9. Yeah I’m having it retrofitted to drive on lakes. Seems handy.
  10. Watching a press conference from the WH at the car dealership waiting to get my car. The WH official position is that the NWS did its job. Per the WH the NWS provided early, timely and consistent warnings in advance of the catastrophe. they are not blaming the NWS which is something I have seen many people do online. A lot. Everyone knows my position that this was a local failure and a state failure and messed up 100 year old mentality whereby camps upriver were supposed to warn the camps downriver of impending doom, in a county who depends on these camps and dollars from them and tourists…unconscionable. I’m not defending the WH I am saying that is what their official position is that the NWS did its job. just paraphrasing what I am hearing sitting in the dealership waiting room.
  11. Well… then I think she deserves the “Eyes of Texas” 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
  12. Prayer isn’t passive. prayer goes hand in hand with deeds. And being about as Jesus like as you can. I fight all the time with God like Job did. I see nothing wrong with this. What I see wrong is people putting platitudes on their walls while acting the opposite, judging others while claiming they do not. I believe in God. And Jesus. I believe in free will. I also believe that having free will allows for all sorts of shit to happen. I also believe we get warnings we don’t heed and when disasters happen many people pretend they didn’t see those warnings. that’s not how it works. God is here. But expecting him to make a miracle over campers who have already passed away before we even knew they were missing isn’t in the cards. my two cents. I don’t go out driving on ice 90 mph not wearing a seatbelt and then slam on the breaks shouting “Jesus take the wheel.” The tragedy at Mystic imo was 100% preventable. None of the other camps in session lost one person. I can blame any number of failures: the mentality of the county, our state government and whatever the hell was going on that night at Mystic where they didn’t move the campers as a precautionary measure before it was too late: that’s not on God. That’s on us.
  13. Y’all had me nervous. kayakers ain’t my thing. all kidding aside, I have heard a fairly credible rumor. There may be a need to re-examine certain bodies. I have contacts within the medical community. Early on (and I miss our fellow poster—Wolfgang who added humor and levity) we kinda threw around succinol choline (I misspelled the shit out of that but too lazy to look it up) as a potential way to get people who seemed not to have drunk much and were not seen using drugs to somehow get disoriented so quickly they drowned. In not that deep of water, one victim was a very good swimmer, To administer this I can’t imagine any other way than an injection but who the fuck knows. I was told the bodies of the ones believed to have been CONNECTED victims that their toxicology was negative, most didn’t have even that much alcohol in their system, most were dark headed, this type of drug would metabolize quickly if there is such a killer. Of course I could just be covering my tracks. Throwing y’all off, punting the ball away from myself. 😂
  14. I just keep hoping which is I suppose right now being in denial. Both my cousins have been thru so much with their parents dying months apart in 2023. And now like troopers they are there for each of their friends who are waiting for news on their little bitties. As the oldest of them, I feel like I need to suck it up and wade through all the rumors and shit news for them both. This is just so fucked. oddly enough it hasn’t shaken my faith. It is my belief this was preventable. Apparently also I have heard via one camper speaking there was a loud thunderclap that woke up many at 2:00 am. So many warnings ignored. Imagine waking up to darkness and no power and water raging outside and rushing in half a foot a minute inside your cabin…and trying to figure out what to do next. I cannot.
  15. I have permission to post one of the girls that one of my cousin’s friend is looking for, I don’t have permission to post the name or picture of the other girl. I would just ask if you hear anything or learn any news if you could please DM me. As of now, neither girl has been located but I thought I would share the name and face of one of the girls since I have permission. greta is the niece of my younger cousin’s best friend. thanks. 🙏🏼
  16. Same. The song we always played at camp is on a loop in my head: Friends (are friends forever.) I’m just gutted. I know many of you are too. I need to watch an action movie or something. hugs to all…💔
  17. We need a crying reaction thing. I didn’t tell my cousins about this report bc I didn’t want to get the hopes of their two friends each missing a mystic camper up. I thought if it’s true it would not be campers from mystic, as it stands right now neither girl my cousins’ friends are looking for has been found. It’s soul crushing.
  18. A tiny note on hill country summer camps from my experience as a camper (most of you it sounds like are fairly familiar with what I am saying): For me, Waldemar was magical place that was not just a place for me to learn to be independent from my family but also to learn a couple of new skills. learning to be reaponsible and being assigned tasks and having to make my bed every day and clean my cabin. Learning to make conversation at the dinner table and learn proper eating etiquette lol. I learned to do things I would never have had the opportunity to do had I not gone. Archery, badminton, canoeing, drama, fencing, all sorts of shit. It wasn’t just about making friends or building my self esteem. It was also learning life and survival skills and also an appreciation of nature and a chance to grow in my faith. as a counselor I got my lifeguard certification in the Guadeloupe River. Jumped in with boots and jeans and a long sleeve button down shirt. Had to make flotation device out of my jeans and also dive for white bricks at the bottom of the river. the task before our searchers is one I cannot fathom and I wish them all god speed and good luck and hope and pray for a rescue or two and not just a recovery. May every person be found. please. ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
  19. The main thing is the necessary aircraft they couldn’t bring in yesterday are coming in now and tomorrow. Something to do with weather and flight patterns and other things as to why they were not there earlier, these are equipped with things even better than FLIR which is how it’s being described. So if there is someone to find and be rescued or sadly recovered they can get better eyes on them.
  20. Just hit an inch of rain here in the 15 minutes since it started pouring like a mofo, fuck,
  21. It’s fucking pouring in 78717 please let it be brief.
  22. It seems like that is real. As to where the wall of water is I don’t know. Additionally, as others have said there also appears to be more rain headed to that area that doesn’t need it whatsoever.
