Good win, boys. See ya Saturday.

I would think extra insulation would behoove Texans, because it helps hold the AC inside during the summer.

Small observation, but has anyone else that has watched all the seasons, or the majority of them, noticed that the hockey players quit dipping and Katy started covering up more?
I never made the connection independently, but you're 100% right.

AIC is overrated as well.
Pearl Jam VS is the best album, song 1 to song 12, of the grunge era.
Also, yup.
It's not my favorite Pearl Jam album (that's Vitalogy), but measuing the strength of everyone song on balance, you're dead-on. One could also make the argument that Vitalogy wasn't really a grunge album either. Lots of acoustic tunes, straight up punk songs, and sonic weirdness.

I'm just now going through all of AIC's discography. I really like Jar of Flies too. Not as heavy, but showed they had some range.
I was listening to some Nirvana for the first time in awhile and thinking, man, they're kind of boring and one note, aren't they? They have some catchy shit but seem super limited on guitar and bass. Grohl's drumming and Kurt's songwriting really carried them.
Yup. Alice in Chains was a better band, but Nirvana had better songs, and Grohl's drumming kicked ass. I love both, but 60-70% of the time, I'm reaching for the Nirvana album first because a good song wins over a great musical performance for me.

I know nothing of the local demographics, but when I see a senior being murdered by 8th graders, my immediate reaction is a bully got taken out by a couple victims.
Not justifying anything either, it just seems like the likely dynamic in my mind.

That loss in Waco doesn't seem so bad.

I think you underrate Millers Crossing.
I haven't seen it. I've only seen 9 Coen Bros films.

I swear to god that if someone sneezed in College Station back in '44 there's a plaque commemorating it and there's some related Aggy tradition.

I know there's some gnashing of teeth going on but at least the conference as a whole came out ahead again.
I think the Big 12 had a winning record against the SEC in prior non-con games heading into the weekend as well.
Off the top of my head, I can think of 3-0 (Us over Mizzou, OSU over LSU, KU over Tenn)

Totally agree with the Skids. Waste of time and space.
I just wanted to also chime in on loving this show. Best comedy I've watched in quite some time. Fucking hilarious.
The scene of them playing catch while Squirrely Dan talks about "attentions being paid to your butts holes" had me about pissing myself laughing.
Arguably one of the funniest things I've ever seen.
We threw a bachelor party for a buddy back in August, and most of the guys in attendance are big fans of the show. On multiple occasions, we were repeating this scene's dialogue in bars just to watch strangers' reactions.

I was 50-50 on shorsey until he was a linesman and we got to see him skate. I was fucking CRYING. "Who even skates like that?"
I felt (and still feel) let down by the Gaye story arc, even into S6. So much fucking potential for redemption in Stuart, or for the low-key skids to actually become true degenerates with interesting storylines ... but she's just a minor incremental amount of mischief in S5, and weirdly festishist in S6.
Lastly, 'Dary is trending downward into comic relief. I should say, only comic relief. In the early seasons, he was Wayne's foil but also his confidant and equal. Wayne was the toughest guy in Letterkenny, but 'Dary was the glue between stoic wayne and squirrely dan. Now he's just ... goofy. Like the whole "can't say breakfast" or how he clings onto Anik (which got it's start in the whole "I don't like French girls because I could never get one to date me" thing, which was in itself overly emasculating for a guy that in the first two seasons had his shit together.
I think they're working towards something with Dary. His insecurity with French girls, leading into his relationship with Anik, and being ruled by his insecurity seems to be building towards some kind of triumph for him. Dary never really had his shit together with the ladies, either. Between pining for Bonnie McMurray, and striking out a few other times, I think his goofiness seems a bit consistent. The only time he ever struck me as that confident, was in a confrontation with other guys, or when he's drunk.
Regarding the skids, I'd be completely fine with them being written out of the show. They've always seemed forced, mostly pointless to the plant, and nothing at all like actual small town meth heads. Gaye is a waste of a character, IMO. It's the only corner of the show I just don't care for.

I haven't. I'm not a Coen expert. I've only seen 9 of their films.

Personally, I enjoyed Fargo as much as No Country for Old Men. However, No Country was just a better movie from the acting of Javier Bardem and Tommy Lee Jones to Cormic McCarthy's story. I would rank Blood Simple in the third spot behind Fargo.
Bardem's performance is tied with Goodman in the Lebowski for best acting performance in a Coen Bros movie, IMO.
Fargo earns sentimental points from me, because a lot of the landscapes, and culture of the film hit pretty close to home, compared to No Country. It's more resolved too, which probably has more to do with Cormac McCarthy than the Coen Bros. I've never read No Country and don't know how faithful the film is, plot-wise.

Lebowski and FMJ both in my top 50.
(I mean I don't have a list of 50 movies somewhere but that seems right for my affinity for them.)
I think Raising Arizona is my favorite Coen, though. Fargo and Lebowski rounding out the top 3. Not really a big fan of No Country.
If I had to rank Top 5 Coen, I'd go:
Lebowski
Fargo
No Country
True Grit
Raising AZ

I thought this would be a fun thread to start.
Basically, what are the 10 films you've seen that you consider the "best"? Not necessarily your 10 favorites (although how much you like the film should definitely be a factor - not looking for a copy/past of Ebert's top 10).
If you can, include the year it came out.
I'll put myself on the chopping block to start (chronological order):
Casablanca (1942)The Godfather: Parts I & II (1972, 1974)Cinema Paradiso (1988)Cool Hand Luke (1967)
Goodfellas (1990)
The Shawshank Redemption (1994)Princess Mononoke (1997)The Blues Brothers (1980)The Matrix (1999)Pulp Fiction (1994)
Lord of The Rings Trilogy (2001-2003)There Will Be Blood (2007)The Big Lebowski (1998 )
The Dark Knight (2008)Moonlight (2016)Full Metal Jacket (1987)
Others: Pulp Fiction (1994), The Empire Strikes Back (1980), Alien (1979), Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969), One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest (1975), The Good, The Bad, The Ugly (1966)We had enough overlap I that I just figured I'd borrow your list and throw in the others.

Long time fan fo this show. Discovered it during some random Youtube wormhole. It wasn't available in the states until mid-last year. It's fucking hilarious. I felt like season 5 got a little formulaic - the hicks have a long rant on some overly-specific random topic (getting tacos in LA), then there's a reason for a fight, fin. But S6 brought some good character development back in.
Also ... "Bonnie McMurray."
Agree with your assessment on Season 5 as a whole, but it did give us the Spelling Bee episode, which might be the funniest stand alone episode of the show. Squrrely Dan berating the audience is just fantastic, as well as the skullduggery with Coach trying to rig it, and McMurray trying to get credit for words by mumbling through them.
The whole storyline with Riley and Jonesy coaching the women's team, and Shoresy playing foil was good too.

Low of -34 predicted for Wednesday AM. High of 34 on Saturday. Just your typical 70 degrees over 3 days temperature swing.
6" of snow last night, and another few more shots predicted over the 10 day, after this cold snap ends. Should be good conditions for the fat bike, snowmobiles, and skiing.

Give your balls a tug, ya tit fuckers.
Season 6 was excellent. The McMurray impressions Wayne and Darry were doing at the dinner table had me about pissing myself. If I had any criticism, it's that they fell back on extended musical shots with action, but no dialogue a few too many times. The show continues to be the most well-written comedy still going.

Interesting...the first was "due to weather" where everybody but Felker was there. Don't try to see these guys if you're in Chicago. The makeup of the makup of the original makup are now all cancelled.
I bought the weather excuse, but I don’t really expect anything from these guys until Felker gets his shit together. If he ever does.
