Hate to tangent this thread, but how to value and sell an old boat (located in Arizona)? We have a Sea Ray 250 or 270 Sundancer from mid 90s, Mercruiser Bravo 3 i/o, every bell and whistle, that we've owned since new. Family grew up and moved, parents travel all the time, it hasn't seen water for probably 12 years. For the first 8 of those 12 years, my dad would hook up the hose bib and at least run the engine once a year, but now it has just sat for maybe 4 years, under a cover.

Never seen salt water, always used in freshwater reservoirs (Lie. Actually once, trailered to San Diego, then washed and flushed it and back to fresh water use.) Always kept at least covered, or in covered slip, or in a covered garage. Engine got a new freshwater impeller, but again, it's sat for 10+ years since.

What are the common references to price a boat? What has the biggest effect on value? How to sell something like this, is it worth fixing/refreshing for sale, or just sell as is at a low price? Where to list it, or what "dealers" would buy this?

You've owned it since the mid-90's and you don't know exactly what type (250 or 270)?  I'd say the first step in valuing it is to determine which boat you have.

Well done, Bruin.  I'm sitting in the office waiting on my boy to come fish with me tomorrow.  Cherish those times because they grow up so fast.

No kidding.  He and I have done a ton of fishing over the years, mostly out at Catalina Island.  This summer is the summer I get him into kayak fishing.

  3. Bill Gates recently opined that we are due for a catastrophic pandemic plague that could wipe out 30% of the population.  That might be a good reset button.

But as a species, I think we will continue for thousands, or tens of thousands, of years.

  4. What in the ever-loving hell has happened to the boat thread?  Anyone fortunate enough to have one, be it whatever it is- ski boat, bass boat, jet ski, or this

should enjoy it and to each his own.  I applaud you all.

  5. My kids don't do jack shit workwise on the boat.  But it is a delicate line.  If I equate the boat with work, they will be less enthusiastic, which puts greater strain on the justification for having it in the first place.  Plus they are pretty much useless anyway.

  6. Texas Tech OL Justin Murphy admitted to UCLA grad education program.  We've had some trouble getting potential grad transfers into our grad programs, as the grad schools don't want to take someone who just takes up a spot in the program, and can't handle the workload.  We need a basketweaving grad program.

I can't bring myself to hate on Lonzo. He seems to be developing into a really good NBA player, he also goes about his business like a pro and doesn't run his mouth like his dad at all. But fuck Lavar, that dude is a clown

This is my feeling.  Lonzo isn't going to badmouth his dad, as much as people would like him to.  He just needs to Keep as much separation as possible between his dad and the Lakers organization.

  8. Should I be doing anything to keep my reels in good working order?  Penn CFT5000 conflict spinning reels if it matters.  Replace/tighten line, oil, etc

I just give them a spray of water to remove salt and grit and then use this stuff

    Correct response:

Why don't you get yourself a nice girl?

I get a nice one almost every night, Ma.

Yeah, but get yourself a girl so you can settle down.

I settle down almost every night, but then in the morning, I'm free.
