  1. Wanted to thank you all for the Washington recs. It was the cherry blossom festival weekend. The museums were packed, so we cherry picked the main exhibits we wanted to see. Air and Space was about 50% closed for renovation, which sucked. We saw what was left, then hit up the National Gallery of Art, Natural History, American History, and Halocaust museums. Also hit the National Archives, saw the Dec of Independence, Constitution, and Bill of Rights. The food was superb, went to BLT Steak the first night ate the wagyu ribeye, and two wagyu ribeye caps, then we walked back by The White House on our way back to the W:

The next day we had lunch at one of CHIEF Jr.'s picks, Carmines. Best lasagna I've had in a long time, great place and cheap:

Made it to Le Diplomate on Saturday night, had the Petit Plateau with CHIEF Jr., some escargot, and Mrs. CHIEF had another steak. Got out a lot cheaper than BLT Steak:

Next morning we had brunch reservations at Old Ebbitt. Went with the bone marrow, salmon pate' and half of these oysters:

After that it was off to Philly, rented a big black 740LI for the trip. Mrs. CHIEF drove a ways, then unleashed CHIEF Jr. behind the wheel:

Stayed at the Kimpton Monaco across the street from Independence Hall, walked to Morimoto and dropped about $600 on dinner. Kobe at $45/oz. CHIEF Jr. and I ate 4 ounces each, he had the omakase, which was weird with how picky he is, but he ate it all:

Next day, we hit Reading Terminal Market, ate more oysters. Was gonna hit DiNic's, but was afraid we couldn't eat all of the sandwich, so I ended up with a grill cheese from Shepherd Valley Farms cheese company, insanely good. The Italian broad at the oyster counter had some really nice RATs, but we were sitting directly across from people so, unfortunately, I was unable to get pics.

Was a great time, will be going back since the Mrs. home office is in Arlington.

  2. Lesbian SJW's who obviously couldn't live with the shame of their peers if CPS took their children away, and deemed them unfit mothers. Tell the kids they have the sniffles, here is some benadryl tablets, and a Cherry Coke to wash it down (laced with Children's cherry flavored Benadryl). Take a nice road trip out on the Pacific Coat Highway, pull up and admire the view from the lookout. Lock the doors and windows and in 5 seconds drive over the cliff. Even the teenagers wouldn't have had time to react. Pretty simple opinion. That and $2.50 will get you a cup of coffee.

Doesn't really take away anything from the political stance, just a tragedy. It happens in liberal and conservative households. Emotions are emotions.

I was dropping my kid off at school this morning and Dorbah walked in front of my car.  He looked at me...I threw him a hook em and gave him a "you know what's up" nod.  He smiled big, gave me a chin nod of acknowledgment and kept walking.  Pretty sure that meant something.

Doing God's work right there, brother.

  4. I'm anything but a conservative, you stupid motherfucker. I'm for a voucher system for healthcare, education, and even for vouchers to move those with no means to move, to be able to move to an area with greater opportunity, (truck drivers, cooks, retail sales, maid service in places like North Dakota, Midland and Odessa) even vouchers to subsidize their housing until they get on their feet. I am NOT for just giving people money, or assistance to just sit in an area with no employment and very little economic opportunity.

Our country is failing these people by not moving them to areas to make the most of their possible opportunities.

Swedens VAT is how they pay for things. It sits at about 25%. Our highest sales tax around here is about 8.25%

One of two things will happen, demand for the product will go down, due to the higher price, or the price will come down to decrease demand under that scenario. It sure as hell has worked for them. Even true Swedish Democratic Socialists have come to an agreement. The last 10 minutes of the video it points you to at http://www.freetochoose.tv/program.php?id=sweden has discussion of why it would work in America, but the two political sides are two polarized to sit down and have an adult conversation like Sweden had too.

  5. Stayed out there for a while, Western Sky was pretty decent. Steaks are kinda there thing in San Angelo, they aren't really high end, but the meat quality is real good around those parts.

East of town there is a brewpub in the old Eola schoolhouse.

Shooter knows the guy. Won't be a cool, young, hip crowd, but the food and beer are pretty good.

You can always eat at the bar at The Outback.

  6. My fingers are too big for a soprano. A tenor fits me a little better. The baritone is tuned like the bottom four strings on a guitar, which would have been easier to learn, but is a little too deep for my liking. A custom made tenor is what Jake Shimabukuro plays. I looked at a Kala, but they were almost twice as much. If i take to it, I'll move up. I can slide the $200 right on by and Mrs. CHIEF will never know.

Used to go to Bob Wills Day in Turkey, Texas every year and camp in the city park. One year, 1980something, they made a mud run and all the big 4x4's were playing in it. Up rolls a brand new Toyota pickup, paper tags and all. He takes a run at it and high centered about halfway. He was stuck pretty good, too. They had 4 Blazers lined up behind him and couldn't budge him. They tried pulling him forward and nothing.

Mind you the idiot driving hasn't stepped out of the Toyota the whole time. Everybody else is getting muddy trying to hook and unhook him. It doesn't have a rear bumper and they bend the shit out of everything looking for a good place to pull. Finally a big tall F250 rolls in there and puts a strap on the tarp hook on the side of the bed. I fully expected him to rip that right off but I'll be damned if it held and he pulled him out. Tweaked the shit out of the bed, but got him out. Driver finally gets out of the Toyota (he's spotless), walks around looking at all the damage and says "She's gonna be pissed."

Turns out it was his girlfriend's birthday present and she let him "take it for a spin".

Lots of stupid shit going on. But it tends to happen when oilfield guys have been stuck in a man camp for 60-90 days, working on their days off, a lot like Navy seamen, they just stack $100k worth of paychecks, and the single guys really have nothing much to spend it on. I'll be damned if they are gonna save it. The guy paid cash for that Raptor, the frame was bent to hell, and they totaled the vehicle. Of course there was never gonna be an insurance payout, not after that.

  8. The problem with jury trails, specially in death penalty cases, is that the jurors are usually the ones that are too dumb to be able to get out of jury duty, or simply have nothing better to do (conservative retirees that tend to presume guilt and have to be completely convinced beyond a shadow of doubt that the defendant isn't guilty). Jury duty is looked at with disdain, not as an honor to do your civic duty.

Mrs. CHIEF tried to get out of jury duty on a murder case, here in Granbury. I talked her out of it. This man was facing execution, and she is very levelheaded, and needed to be on there. The jury completely dismissed some very critical evidence, and moved to convict. She was the lone holdout, there were others, but they wanted to go home, so fell right in line with the other jurors. They Allen charged her, and she held out for about 6-8 hours, was called everything in the book, unfit mother, treehugger, criminal, etc. I told her I was going to go get her a blanket and pillow, and to hold out as long as need be, but she finally gave in. It haunted her to the day that The Court of Appeals overturned the verdict based on the dismissed evidence. I am ok with the Death Penalty, if there are multiple eyewitnesses, but no way is our legal system competent enough to execute based on evidence alone.

This goes for BSR Cable Park in Waco too. There have been multiple fatalities there.

LOL, know these guys as well. Their Dad used to own the Texas Safari wildlife park in Clifton. Andrew Parsons is the only one I know real well, but he isn't one of the owners of BSR. A good defense attorney could make millions defending BSR and RWP, would be a full time job.

These deaths just serve to clean up the gene pool a bit.
