  1. Well Mrs. CHIEF is starting to travel more with her career, so we got her a new ride. Found a '16 GSF with 17k on the clock, but she wanted to keep her 250k 2003 4Runner to leave at the airport. She always wanted a silver car for some reason.

Should last her a good 10 years or so.

  2. I ran track my last two years at Tarleton, when we were still in the conference with Midwestern, Angelo State, Howard Payne, and Austin College. I lived close enough to commute. $500-600k paydays for getting their ass kicked a couple of times per year will increase their athletic budget tremendously. They have had really good basketball teams, guess the football team was put on notice. Will probably be the conference cellar dweller for a decade or so.

  3. I boil my beef tongues in crawfish boil (powder and liquid together) for about 2 hours on medium heat, then, let it sit and cool in the water long enough to be peeled. I slice mine into razor thin strips, slap it onto a piece of buttered bread and add a little Julio's spice, or Chupacabra on it for a fold over. Anytime CHIEF Jr.'s buddies come over they always ask to have one ready when they get there.

  4. My Old Man and I ran 350 head in five different counties back when I was in Jr. High and High School. We did it like RPM said, lay hay or range cubes out in a long line and count them. Usually any cow missing was in the brush with a new baby, only missed one or two over all those years.

  5. After I had a 160+ whitetail run off from a shoulder shot, I only shoot neck shots as well. I aim for the white spot under their chin or where that would be if they aren't looking at me. Have not had one run off since. A good taxidermist can fix the bullet hole, but a bunch of taxidermists don't use the original cape anyways.

  6. CHIEF Jr, one of our family friends and his son were supposed to go to the Chandeluer Islands this weekend, but the Captain cancelled due to weather. They were really bummed, but ended up in Surfside Beach, he is either staying with, or fishing with DeLoss' SIL. It's been a grind so far, one slot red, and the crabs killing his live mullet.

He will manage to make a run of a few hundred shirts before he's totally shut down.  And whatever the equivalent of Ohio is in Africa, those are the only places you'll see his shirt after they're all confiscated and shipped off.
Serious question-----what is the Ohio equivalent of Africa?  I'm gonna say Uganda.

    Uganda? Cool.... Where is that?

  8. We hit MF Sushi, it was as good as Tojo's in Vancouver, Two orders of Otoro, and a sampler with more Otoro on it, Uni, served in half the shell, and it was still less expensive than our little sushi joint at home. Captain Benny's was like a much better Pacific Star, and the other highlight was the muffuletta at Angelo's.

  9. I have a booth at the Texas Trophy Hunters Association's 2019 Houston Expo at NRG. Mrs. CHIEF has me scouting for good restaurants (she is already in Houston for work, and is just going to stay through the Expo with me) she will eat anything except Indian food. Seafood, any type of Asian, and Latin American is what we don't have at home, and plan on getting something different. Thanks.

  10. It's all about logistics. As a manufacturer in a small town only 30 minutes to Ft. Worth it sucks when your supplier can't get a truck to you for 7-10 business days. You have to drop what you are doing to go get the needed materials so your assembly line doesn't shut down. Or, Heaven forbid, they send the wrong item, but won't be back in the area for another week. Sure, the lower overhead like cheaper rent and land prices, and low cost labor are bonuses, but my business runs like a caterpillar. I love the small town, and would never consider moving back to Austin, or even into Ft. Worth.

I could see established companies possibly moving in, but it's a bitch trying to run a start up in a small town. You will never get tech companies to move, because of the uneducated labor force, and lack of amenities that would attract tech savvy people. It's quite the conundrum. Big Tex Trailers was able to make a go of it in Mount Pleasant, Alcoa has a plant in Rockdale, but the list is rather short. If you get fired, played off, or the plant closes, your largest asset, your house, may sell at a fraction of what you paid for it, or not ever sell at all.

Here’s my neighbor Ed talking about his Cannonball car. You can see his Murcielago that he loves and drives, that’s his favorite Lambo ever.

    Here’s his garage tour:

I immediately walked into CHIEF Jr.'s room and told him that you were his neighbor. Asked him, who is the "Ed" that owns the Cannonball record. Knew his last name and wants to come to Georgia.

  12. I worked a brief stint in management at HEB (when it was open) there are approximately 200 employees at each store. The employees were the guinea pigs for each new product that was introduced. If 10% said a product wasn't satisfactory they tweaked the recipe. If it still wasn't good enough to get everyone on board, then they scrapped the product. The big product that came through when I was there were the fully cooked flame grilled frozen hamburger patties. Those fuckers are legit. HEB knows what they are doing, all of their house brands are pretty badass.

  13. I have the small Cuisinart that you put the bowl in the freezer. I'm on a Creamy Creations Mexican Hot Chocolate kick right now, so its a bit dusty. We go through a gallon or so a week of ice cream around the house. A quick and easy recipe that is really good is fill it with a gallon of chocolate milk and about 6-8 crushed up Heath bars.
