  1. It's fine. I give it a c+ but I don't care for auto racing of any variety and uninspired acting and screenwriting annoy me. The movie is like the first Rocky but on a race track. I imagine that was in the pitch meeting. "And then we add in a bit of corporate double cross!!" There was nothing else to see in the theater near us so I gave it a shot. My wife and sister were less critical of it than me. It wasn't as bad as I was expecting.
  2. This was mentioned in part upthread, so credit to that person https://www.hccommunityjournal.com/article_fd3f3e9c-3eb8-11ef-9bb2-b32dd8fc6b3d.html
  3. What about DPS? If there had been women standing in line to get an abortion at 30 days of pregnancy they'd have fucking SWAT out there.

  5. It certainly shouldn't be your or any parent's responsibility. I'm not advocating for that. But somewhere in the chain well-qualified people need to review and approve emergency contingencies, and make sure they're prepped every year.
  6. Does anyone recall from their children's books about when it's a good idea to cry wolf, or should I ask grok? Afaf

  9. Maybe we'll eventually find out if the camp even had a plan and if so how comprehensive it was. Does the county have a plan? Does the county have a plan for the camps? Does the county know if the camp had an emergency plan? Did they review it with the camp? Did any of them follow a plan? Were they all negligent? I won't hold my breath waiting for answers. I understand why nobody wants to blame the parents but if there's nobody else checking what the camp was up to, it was incumbent on them.
  10. If anyone wants to revisit the Wimberly flood of May 23, 2015 this is a good article https://www.texasmonthly.com/news-politics/when-the-river-rises/
  11. Oh...rafael cruises again
  12. At some point these dipshits will hopefully understand that global warming is not only making downpours more frequent, but more intense, as well. Your side piece would've understood. Anyway here's the Kerrville cm along with all the cowards in city leadership running out of the room yesterday while a reporter yells at him that parents are demanding answers. m2-res_470p.mp4
  13. The phones at the beginning of the flood were as silent as the county staff. (Post article)
  14. WaPo has a similar article. Hadn't heard the bit about the campground before though. https://archive.is/5CaY8
  15. The fascist-run NY Times is concerned about NWS links https://archive.is/VlcgG or https://www.nytimes.com/2025/07/05/us/politics/texas-floods-warnings-vacancies.html?unlocked_article_code=1.UU8.x2Ca.Fw9HbFj_AGXz&smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare
  16. Officials across the country report being “ghosted” by FEMA - apparently the Trump regime has majorly restricted FEMA’s ability to directly communicate without their words first being evaluated by political appointees (who don’t have disaster experience). https://www.cnn.com/2025/07/02/politics/fema-critical-funding-disaster-response

  18. I'm tired of not knowing what this meme is so I'm outing myself. Someone please.
  19. That was not real. and also since this thread is supposedly only for weather info, your post ran afoul of the rules, and so did my post correcting yours. Shame on me.
  20. See above. Then someone 3ish posts after yours had something from xitter.
  21. Dumb q probably - but do I understand, he went to the camp after the NWS warning, so probably close to 2 when he got there? Then he couldn't find her after 2 hours of searching, but somehow reached her on a cell phone? And she died in the flood. Jfc.
