  1. KXAN has a recording of the 911 call from a volunteer firefighter begging the county to send word to local residents: https://www.kxan.com/investigations/as-kerr-county-leaders-avoid-alert-questions-new-audio-surfaces-in-codered-timeline/ "It is still unclear at what time CodeRED alerts went out."
  2. Things go poorly for an off-duty CBP agent in Long Beach, CA
  3. We'll probably hear a lot of similar stories over the next few years
  4. If you get confused at Whitechapel because the Overground train runs beneath the Underground...
  5. shitbird opened his mouth again
  6. 3.5 more years of this shit. I hope we can survive. (oh, and fify)
  7. nsiap "Experts say every state gets millions in federal help — and a little more goes to Republican states and congressional districts. New York University’s Rebuild By Design, a nonprofit that focuses on disaster prevention, created an atlas of the 795 non-medical and non-technological federal disasters since 2011, which they called climate disasters. It found that every state and all but a few hundred counties have been helped. “It’s clear that climate is not a red or blue challenge,” said Amy Chester, the atlas creator and Rebuild by Design’s director. “Communities are suffering whether you are a red state or blue state.” https://apnews.com/article/federal-disaster-aid-fema-wildfire-hurricane-money-84e1db303b8abead10a26b95392cd980

  10. They also weren't among Joel Klatt's "top 10 with best chance to make the playoffs out of schools that haven't been there before." Neither was aggy.
  11. for the record - The Athletic's reporting https://archive.ph/a1EVe "Texas Tech built ‘best team money can buy.’ And Big 12 coaches have thoughts"
  12. I haven't seen this mentioned on this board yet so siap - Bruce Feldman said Tech was paying $750k to Ojo out of Tech's revenue share, per year guaranteed for 3 years. The $1.5M reported earlier is only if they're allowed to top off the 750 with NIL, or if it direct NIL payments by collectives aren't being enforced against.
  13. We're too damn busy to answer questions.
  14. former LEO was asleep at the wheel
  15. It's never the right day to answer difficult questions that demand your personal accountability or action. What you're not recognizing is that many of the answers -- like hey city manager what the fuck were you doing during the hours after the flood warning was issued -- are known to those people. It takes longer to bitch about being asked about it than it would to answer the damn question. What they do is dodge and then there's NEVER an answer. Learn the pattern.
  16. I agree but Wimberly flood wasn't that long ago. And this was a warning, not a watch so if they didn't take precautions based on it, that's pretty extreme negligence. They received no help from the city or county and that's a huge problem too. Someone with direct knowledge explained in this or another thread. I think maybe it was @C-Man ? Has to do with the cabin being next to the mess, small children, big hill... It hasn't gone away YET. Their responsibilities are statutory and that hasn't changed. But also you're mistaking "surprise" for "extreme anger."
  17. I get it. Many of us are going to have to learn the skills to produce meth or become meth salesman. But it's stunning that almost a week into a major disaster recovery and the director of FEMA hasn't shown his face nor made his way to Texas to do his job. It makes me me miss the mere incompetence of Brownie.
  18. "Tensions in here are high."
  19. For the record, he did basically say "so long"
  20. Delays in deployment of Federal search and rescue, and aerial imagery to aid in search - "Explained"
  21. Same ... and the one who told staffers, in a moment of sharing info in an all-hands meeting, that he had just learned the state of Texas is larger than Spain. But he was satisfied when he compared them on a map.
