  1. Thank you! Really appreciate your presence and valuable contributions to our online community. The information you’ve posted over many years has been instrumental in shaping my understanding of the topic. Your thoughtful sharing has not only benefited me, but I sense it's also fostered a sense of belonging and collaboration among the Board.
  2. I don't know if they're definitive but this user has 2 lists that seem good https://bsky.app/profile/terryfella.fellas.social
  3. On your way to getting crowdsourced as @Maestro della Moneta you sprung up as @Jesse Livermore and now you have another new handle. So proud of you.
  4. What the userbase calls "the nuclear block" helps keeps bluesky relatively civilized. For example, there's not much quote dunking. If someone is an annoyance, the block function vaporizes them from your sight, and keeps them from seeing your account, unless you unblock them. Also if you like an active feed you definitely need to follow more accounts than on twitter because nothing gets pushed into your feed unless you want it there. The number of new users is very apparent. I don't seek a following myself but for example I estimate the noelreports account (pro Ukraine) engagement has increased by a factor of 20 or so just in the past week.
  5. Did you use "sky follower bridge" to re-connect with your twitter follows and followers? It's a chrome add-on. https://blueskydirectory.com/
  6. If you go to this app https://github.com/lucahammer/tweetXer scroll down there's a youtube tutorial on how to use it for a mass deletion
  7. If you're unable to use the app to delete your old tweets and there's too many to do it manually, you mean? I believe there's an option to deactivate your account. Do that and don't log back in. If you log back in after the 15th they should/probably will make you agree to the new TOS.
  8. You seem like someone who's on his 252nd Surly account and it's about to get banned again.
  9. If you posted a bunch of pictures on facebook or insta, or someone else posted of you and tagged you, that's all in Meta's AI database. Someone already found a way to have the facebook "smart glasses" identify the people they were seeing and dox them. https://www.theverge.com/2024/10/2/24260262/ray-ban-meta-smart-glasses-doxxing-privacy I imagine similar bad shit will happen with twitter's AI, or make the consequences of being doxed by Meta even worse for some people. I deleted fbook years ago -- about the time theye bought Insta -- and deleted my twitter account at least 5 years ago.
  10. Site looks awesome. Loading up a basket. https://www.diasporaco.com/collections/all#spices Diaspora is my favorite boutique, small batch spice retailer. They created a network of small, organic farmers in India (mainly). Freshest and by far the most pungent spices I've ever tasted or smelled, but it's a small batch operation and everything is seasonal so ya gotta order when they have it. fwiw their saffron is awesome and fairly priced but sold out right now
  11. If there's a war in the Persian Gulf due to Israel attacking Iran, how would that impact oil exports by OPEC?
  12. If ruzzia agrees to a deal it would be for the main purpose of consolidating their gains (which trump will push for). Under those circumstances, and the possible need for private insurance, I'm not sure what or how much gets rebuilt because the risk/likelihood seems hight that they'll start up another war as soon as they've rebuilt their forces.
  13. Have you made your bluesky account username public info here? Also @atomheartbevo Also for anyone at bluesky, if you're not aware of starter packs, they're basically a must know to build your account. If you want to get a lot of followers, find the admin of any list and ask them to add you. If you want to find people to follow, search the starter packs for users that others have recommended grouped under certain expertise and/or content. Starter pack subjects can be extremely micro. It's a feature that's a bit like what twitter had with "law twitter" or "immunology twitter" except more organized. There's over 5,000 starter packs https://blueskydirectory.com/starter-packs/all Bluesky doesn't have a central algorithm, so you have to follow a lot more accounts to get an active timeline...like 600 +/- 100 It also has "feeds," and you can get added to those or just use them to find people to follow. Feeds can be pinned to your home page a bit like a bookmark within the bluesky site to switch what content you see.
  14. Fair. There's a few people on this site who have real accounts with valuable info/writing.
  15. Go succor yourself in the CR.
  16. On Mark Galeotti's latest episode of the In Moscow's Shadows podcast, he said his advice to Zelensky is that the new Ambassador to the US should be a former Miss Ukraine. He was only partially joking.
  17. Delete your accounts on X prior to the November 15th, that's when the new terms of service go into effect, so they will have free license to feed your tweets to their A.I. plus a global copyright on anything you've ever posted. To be clear, opting out means deleting all of your previous tweets and not posting there again. There's no opting out in the sense that you can 'select' it in the settings. If you don't delete your account, I don't know if they retain the right to use your past writings, or even more importantly, if they think they would still have that right. edit - link https://www.cnn.com/2024/10/21/tech/x-twitter-terms-of-service/index.html
  18. The Senate being asked to stand down from their constitutional role of affirming appointment of government officials just like the Supreme Court was ordered to tilt the wheels of justice in favor of an autocratic fascist. Nothing to see there. And by the way that's not the meaning of "recess appointments."
  19. The land of the dumbfucks
  20. Thanks for the neg @Macklemore you reminded me that's about you, too.

  22. Someone else's words about a SMU failson and other losers like them. "There’s a substantial cohort of people (some "men") who use social media as a tool for motivated perversity. The goal is to generate disagreement. The goal of posting isn’t to engage with ideas, but to perform knowledge and mastery over masculinized areas of expertise. That includes politics, economics, sports, video games… Men can demonstrate their masculinity by showing off how much they know about these topics. But if you agree with someone, or embrace widely accepted views, you don’t get the chance to show how much you know! So, men looking to perform these masculinities *have to* disagree with conventional views and/or offer up increasingly extreme views. What does this mean for how we should treat these posters? There’s no point in engaging. Their motivation isn’t to learn, or persuade, it’s to disagree for the sake of disagreeing. They are, in a very real way, getting off on your engagement, disagreement and disgust. The experience of some men’s lives, such as SMU failson Johnny Sack for example, hasn’t kept up with their expectations of masculinity, so they’re flailing around for some way to demonstrate their perceived gender. It is possible to structure political and social discourse to eliminate negative motivations and make everyone more comfortable sharing ideas. But folks, social media isn’t that. Let them have their spaces to spiral into the most offensive things they can think of, but there’s no reason to help."
