  1. Seeing Osborne go elsewhere wouldn't bother me as much now as it would have three months ago. He's a great 3-down back, but we're in on several others of similar value. Atkinson, though, seems closer to a unicorn. So while this obviously isn't a one-or-the-other situation, I'm happier about our standing with the LB than I am bummed about where we are with the RB.
  2. Put a steer on one end of a seesaw and a rooster on the other and guess which one might be higher when it stops. That said, I tend to agree with old Bill Bradley on the impact. This team ain't skeered.
  3. Nobody could punt like Stingray Guy.
  4. With Chavez in attendance today, let's show her what her future really looks like.
  5. You know this plane has crashed into the mountain when fans actually start missing Hunter and Mitchell.
  6. Having an AI bot call plays would be a huge upgrade over this clown show. Blow it all to smithereens.
  7. Glad to see Neyor put up some strong times in the low 4.4s. Had high hopes for him in Austin, but with his injury it just wasn't meant to be. Here's to a nice pro career.
  8. I haven't done a deep drive into any of the other contenders' resumes, but it strikes me there are some parallels between this UCONN team and what we just saw play out with Ohio State in football. Now having all their main pieces in place, the Huskies are going to be a really hard out. Not sure who's any better than the Huskies as March begins. That said, I'd be happy for Texas to face them in the Final Four, as that would at least mean we've taken another big step in our program's ascension. Just reaching that point is going to take some heavy lifting for any of the projected #1s, though. As it now shapes up, I could see any of a half-dozen or so teams being the last one standing. A totally crazy March awaits.
  9. Makeer needs to go to Michigan State. Stay away from South Carolina entirely.
  10. Where applicable, I figured she'd want to go with whichever team has a female coach.
  11. ND doesn't look to have the D to win a title. Taking nothing away from FSU, but the Irish were matadors on drives.
  12. Great D late by Jak in the quarter, but we can't reasonably expect her to be a scorer late on the road against a good team. This is where Booker must take control.
  13. The post I nearly made before tipoff, but then didn't, was one of concern. Nothing that's happened since then has made me feel any better. We're continuing to shoot abysmally and getting owned in the paint. Until Booker puts on her missing cape, we're going to have issues breaking it open against anyone decent. This isn't UGA we're playing.
  14. Regardless of how their replacements fare, I'm really glad Choice, Joseph and now Bo Davis have moved on to pro jobs instead of to other college programs. Choice in particular seemed popular enough with his players that someone in our RB room might have followed him to another school. I doubt it with Joseph's DB room, but you never know. Davis departing LSU for the Saints obviously might crack a window wide enough for us to grab a DL transfer or at least help us with recruiting against Kelly in this next cycle. Guess some DB or other player at Texas might follow Gideon to Georgia Tech, but I can't see any rotation guy doing so unless he's mighty homesick for the Southeast.
  15. We have at least five rotation players for whom I can identify no specific skill set.
  16. So Lurch loses the ball OOB and immediately turns to go downcourt on defense. But nooooo...ref says Arky ball. Lurch then hits a 3 from somewhere in outer space, and Terry gets a T. This is so much fun to watch.
  17. I've been more concerned about Chavez picking OU than Tech. A better and more stable program historically (and for sure recently), plus a fast-paced style and Nike alignment, as @Js1 has noted. And presumably the truck stop sugar momma of OU softball could offer her however much the school wants her to write a check for, if it comes down to that. Even so, I'm leaning hard toward Texas. Rarely has a contending team that checks every box for a player been in such clear need of that same player's individual skill set. Now excuse me while I go trademark ArchAaliyahmania.
  18. At this point, Tech might be willing to break its Adidas contract, hire the Monterey coaching staff, make Sonny Chavez GM and give scholarships to all four of Aaliyah's fellow starters.
  19. Bingo. Nowhere in aggy's touching ode to loyalty is mention of the fact Earley bolted for Austin at first opportunity. They were eager to trash him until the aggy brass lured him back. That desperate move of hiring an unqualified HC to hold their roster together was short-sighted, but after the humiliation of so many defections to the evil empire, it was portrayed as some meritorious achievement. Sure, Jan. As for that roster, funny how there's no questioning of why several current aggy players briefly went into the portal before deciding to stay. Were these guys as loyal as fan fiction suggests, they'd never have thought about playing in Austin or anywhere else. But as noted, true ags will always rework the facts to suit their fantasy.

  21. Not to mention Holle has been off in her % nearly all year. She's getting some decent looks but not many makes. Maybe she's nursing an injury, or maybe it's just a slump. She continues to play hard on D.
