  1. On paper, Pannell's role at Mizzou made her a good fit for Texas: someone who could spot start but also hop in as needed to close out tight games. Of course, we already have pitchers with that potential, just not as proven. Aggy can offer more starts and total innings, but perhaps a lesser chance of playing for a ring in OKC. Wells has a world of hitting and pitching potential. She should be great once she settles in. But I agree that if she's leaned on a lot next season, we've had something go way wrong elsewhere on the roster. Barring really bad injury luck, we'll have too many Top 100 players available to find ourselves in that predicament.
  2. One's certainly older, but not sure which.
  3. Watching that garbage on Eastern Time only added to the rage.
  4. But Gattis could at least hit water if he fell out of a boat. This guy? Not sure.
  5. No wonder he's celebrating that we eked out a last-second Cup win. i don't know much at all about our T&F facilities, but I hear we're lagging behind some other schools. Someone fill me in. On an other note, how nice would it have been to have at least one of Texas State's high jumpers in burnt orange? The Bobcats had only three guys in Eugene and still finished 10 spots ahead of our men. Embarrassing. https://txst.com/news/2025/6/14/track-and-field-hayes-and-o-riley-finish-tied-for-second-in-the-mens-high-jump.aspx
  6. Assuming Stewie can field 1B well enough, the main downside to putting her there (or at DP, obviously) is not getting full use out of her cannon arm. But she's Joley's height, and that's tall enough to present a decent target on throws. I still think in a perfect world you'd tinker with Atwood there, mainly due to her wingspan, but I don't see White breaking up his ace battery too often next season. These of course are First World problems.
  7. Clearly talented, and presumably quite motivated. Me likey.
  8. Well, he's prepping for hydraulics. Assuming he doesn't transfer again.
  9. It's not easy to learn everything about fluid dynamics at a single school. Clearly an urban achiever.
  10. I'd urge our coaches to "hang around the rim" and "recruit through the whistle," but we all know USC football never loses a verbal commitment.
  11. True. Then again, we're comparing that staff's chances to aggy's...and history rarely favors the Brazos bunch.
  12. Ultimately we could face anyone in the nation who's on a playoff team, even if we never do in regular season play. I think Brown's less likely to be part of a contender in B/CS. But it's just a hunch on my part.
  13. Better for Brown to go to aggy than LSU.
  14. Distilled voodoo is the best voodoo.
  15. Heck of an outing for the lefty. But what an anemic effort with the sticks. Time to break out the bottle of distilled voodoo that somehow overcame it yesterday.
  16. Next year we should be back over 1300 team points, per usual. This was a down year for DC scoring by Texas...but still enough.
  17. And those bonus points in beach VB sure came in handy. How are golf and tennis looking? I trust we'll stay strong in rowing and swimming/diving.
  18. My way-too-early prediction is that we win it again next year. Might not win the title in softball, but I think men's sports as a group will score more points. Only a year, or very nearly so, until we find out.
  19. Congrats to every Longhorn who scored at least a point. We needed them all, as noted. And thanks to aggy for helping us secure another Cup. I know they're proud of that.
  20. I cared about winning the Cup because, why wouldn't I want Texas to win it? I want us undefeated in everything forever. But alas, despite 2 national championships and a sound thrashing of the SEC across the board this year, we jacked around and blew it...evidently because we can't recruit/coach enough great T&F athletes in a state loaded with them. I think Texas State's 2 high jumpers outscored our men's team. That ain't gonna cut it.
  21. Get him into the program and then sort it out. If you've seen his highlights, he's about the biggest Swiss army knife in the land. Great feet and deceptively quick. With the right S&C regimen and positional focus he could turn into something special.
  22. Yes, please. Jumbo freaks are always in demand.
