If Brooks continues this current course I don’t see how he comes back.  He’s 2nd in the nation in rushing yards against a very tough schedule.

Brooks is a great college running back who isn’t elite in any single category. He’s not gonna get drafted before day 3. He may decide he wants a shot at making a roster and leaves early.  It I would bet he comes back next year.

Must mean Wingo doesn't think he'd play as a freshman?

He didn't elaborate. But X, JW, AD (could come back), and Neyor are gone, which leaves a lot to fill. Then again, WRs are not hard to find in the portal so I'm not concerned.

AD is showing up on more 1st round mock drafts than X now. Both will be drafted in the first two rounds and maybe even both in the 1st. They’re gone after this year.

Johntay was polished, productive, and a 5-star guy. He’s not getting a bunch of burn this year. Wingo would be nice, but we’ll be fine with a portal guy.

Get Dekorien Moore and another big body guy like Wingo next year.

That's because we have elite and/or entrenched senior starters already on the roster in Worthy, Mitchell, and Whittington. He's not gonna pull targets away from any of those dudes. And they're all gone after this year. So it will be Cook and bunch of unproven but talented dudes next year. There's opportunity for a true freshman to come in and make the kind of impact Worthy did a few seasons ago.

You're right that we might be fine with a portal guy. But I never like a strategy of "it's fine to lose out on this elite player this year because we'll just get two elite players next year". I'd like to add an elite WR this year but probably not gonna happen if we don't get Wingo.

Was discussing 70s home architecture with @Ghost of LL today, and I shared that as a child of the 70s, I was always super-jealous when I visited someone's house and they had a kick-ass, super-awesome, neato, conversation pit.

Is there a cooler feature your house can have?  No, there is not.  Do these need to make a massive comeback?  Yes, they do.

I was a fan back then.  I am a fan today.  If I ever have to remodel my living area, you're goddamn right I'm adding a conversation pit.

When I used to help the bar/restaurant I consulted for plan the bars for weddings, we always went with 2.5-3.5 depending upon the age range of attendees.  Never had one run out of liquor or beer, and a lot of those weddings were the Czech folks in West.

This was a wedding with A LOT of service industry people and Irish Catholics.

They'll try to fire Jimbo for cause before considering paying that buyout.

I mean, I'd love for them to invent some reason to fire him for cause. I'm sure that will comfort the next coach and give him confidence that they won't try to weasel their way out of a contract if the team underperforms.

  6. If they do buy him out, I wonder who's on their shortlist and what is realistic. I'm sure Urban Meyer is who the fans will want. Would he go there? He's a total piece of shit, so he checks that box. But just like when we were looking for a coach, there doesn't seem to be an obvious candidate outside of UM.

  7. I disagree with the notion that we were unprepared, we were the less physical team, or that we didn't have the right mindset. I just think that OU is a LOT better than we thought they were. Impressed (and fucking frustrated) with how they've turned things around in one year. We lost a close one because of turnovers and a few mistakes. But we didn't get outplayed, didn't get pushed around, didn't make too many of stupid mistakes (the running into the punter and the picks come to mind). This loss doesn't feel as bad as many of the other losses to them.

But it's tough to beat a team twice in one season, and I think we'll get another crack at them in a game that will matter more.

Edit: Regarding mindset, the biggest issue is that they expect to win, and we hope we will win.

Look to your right. Does The Boy wear striped pants?  Not that there’s anything wrong with that if he does.

He’s in Europe. Can’t get pussy in unstriped pants dude.

  9. Holmes was such a fucking awful portal take. I called it out for what it was in the transfer thread and some of you got all up in your feels being defensive about a guy you hadn't heard of six hours earlier just because our staff said they wanted him. He looked mediocre in coverage in the ACC playing WRs several tiers below what even the garbage Big 12 teams field. He was (and still is) one of the worst tacklers in all of the FBS..

Oh fuck. This guy can see the future and everyone else is idiot! Bro, you are so badass!

  10. Outside of diagnosing individual plays (1st series pick) or series (1st and goal from the 1) the reason we lost the game was because our pass rush sucked donkey dick and our LBs were terrible.

Our inability to get home and get sacks on their stupid QB was maddening. It exemplifies why Colin Simmons is so essential to the 2024 class.

And Jaylan Ford was fucking terrible yesterday. He’s usually amazing but he looked lost. He didn’t help the team yesterday.

The only cheeseateak bun allowed is Amoroso's. Not easily found in Texas.

Exactly. Which is why the question "what buns do you use for cheesesteak" was asked.

I think the talera rolls at Central market work pretty well. They're sturdy and Central Market bakes them in more of a hoagie shape rather than a circular bun shape.

Every time I've ordered catering it feels like I get sold about 40% more food than I need.

We had Rudy's at our wedding and it was great. Super easy and the out of towners loved it. But yeah, we had A LOT of leftover bbq. Wedding planners always suggest you order too much food and not enough booze. Our wedding planner said to plan on 2.5 drinks per person. My wife and I literally laughed out loud at that suggestion.

Anyway, not a new opinion but Rudy's has it's place and catered weddings certainly falls right in their sweet spot.
