  1. I don't see how Worthy slips to the 3rd round. I don't see how Sanders is still taken in the 2nd. And I don't see Sweat slipping to the 4th even with his DUI. But wtf do I know...

Weird way to close the post. Why would the opinions of Texas HS Football coaches be the first thing you feel you need to address when discussing how that would impact Alfred Collins and Vernon Broughton? I guess the inference is that the strong source is a Texas HS Football coach?

I just don't know what kind of traction this has gotten.  It seems pretty light, but I could be wrong.

There are 4 pages on this thread over two full seasons. So not a lot. Not that this forum is a perfect barometer.

I thought the season was pretty good. It's a pretty good show. I generally enjoyed it, but I never said to myself "A new Tokyo Vice is on tonight! Can't wait to watch it!".

Also, can't imagine the budget for this show being shot in Japan is helping make the case for a third season.

I’ll probably say this fairly often in this thread

Cancer cells have double the number of glucose receptors as regular cells in the body.

So, carbs/sugar are much much more important to the growth of cancer cells than other cells in the body.  Cancer needs glucose to grow.  That’s why fasting is so powerful when fighting cancer.  If you don’t want to fast, cut all the carbs.

Rest very assured that doctors at MD know all about the reasons why you should cut carbs from your diet but the big mystery is that they don’t include it in treatment strategy’s.

It’s just one of those things that doctors “choose” not to get involved in.

well, when you say it like that you seem like much less of a dickhead.

we still have people who get all excited about cutting carbs/sugar for diabetes, but not for cancer?

you don't know shit about fuck regarding his situation or medical diagnosis. he'll do what he wants to do and I'll wish him well.

And you do? I also wish him well, just not sure football is in his best interest.

I don't either. But I'm not the one playing internet dad/internet doctor in this thread. You are.

  8. Otther than that DL slug from Michigan last year (?), the Cowboys have drafted really well the last 5 years or so.
Given that, I don’t see the Cowboys trading UP to pick up any WR.

You mean the two DLs from Michigan?

Is that recipe from the Walsh book as well? I’ll have to try it. My super low effort recipe is to fry a cup of rice in a few tbsp of oil with about half a tbsp of knorr caldo de tomate and maybe 1/4 tsp of cumin, add 2 cups of water and 1/2 tbsp of chicken better than boullion and some frozen peas, bring to a boil, cover, cook as directed for twenty and then turn off the heat and let sit for another 10-20. I like it better with the onions and other accoutrement but the three year old loves “rice with peas” and I can do this whole thing while working on other stuff.

Not a Walsh recipe. I looked at about four different recipes and came up with what I thought would be good, but also would be easy.

As far as store bought corn tortillas go, in Austin I like the El Milagro yellow corn tortillas that come in the cool paper sack. They don't have any preservatives (according to the package) and when you open the bag there's a noticeable rich masa smell. Of course, the downside is that they only come in packages of 30 and since they don't have preservatives they don't keep very long. And our family usually isn't eating 30 corn tortillas in less than a week. But I think they're much better than the HEB branded corn tortillas.

If anyone has a recommendation on store-bought corn tortillas that you feel are better, I'm all ears.

  10. Rice recipe?  I struggle with that one.

1.5 cups long grain white rice. Toast rice in like 1/4 cup of vegetable oil until deep golden brown. Watch it and let it toast longer than you think you should, but make sure it doesn’t burnt. Add 1/4 of a finely diced yellow or white onion and sautee for a few mins on lower heat. Then add about 1.5 tablespoons of minced garlic and sautee like 30 seconds till fragrant.

While you’re doing all that shit, in a separate saucepan bring 2 cups of chicken broth to almost a boil. Add that to the rice and onions and garlic right after you add the garlic. Also add 8oz of tomato sauce, a teaspoon or so of salt, about half a teaspoon of cumin, a few sprigs of cilantro, and a whole halved jalapeño. Cook on low for like 20 mins till done. Remove from heat but do not take off lid. Let sit for like 15 mins before fluffing. Remove japs and cilantro.

That’s how I did it. Difference tonight was that I toasted the rice a little longer, heated the liquid/broth before adding to the rice, and I let it sit a lot longer than normal after removing from heat.

  11. These records made their appearance in the 1950s, were/are played at 45 rpm and made of plastic. The previous generation of record players (and the following 33 1/3 rpm "album" records) had/have a very small central hole, and were not nearly as stable when stacked on the player's spindle. The bigger hole was more stable for stacked records and easier for the jukebox player mechanism to get on the spindle.
When I bought my first record player, they threw in two "free" 45s. For my choice, I picked a Porter Waggoner song called "It Tickles" and one called "Heartbreak Hotel". I really wanted Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 in C# minor, but it was only available on 78s.

Random question: why did the 7” records have that big hole that you needed the adapter for to play on the turntable

  13. I don't remember what happened because I never really knew what was going on. All the characters looked the same with names so similar it was impossible to tell anyone apart.

Edit: I mean seriously - Daemon, Aemond, Vaemond, Rhaenys, Rhaenyra, Jacaerys, Larys, Laenor, Viserys, Corlis, Criston. This shit is fucking stupid.

I’m about halfway through Silo does it get better? It’s kinda boring. I’m sticking around for Rebecca Ferguson but her character is kinda moody and annoying. I’ll ride it out if there is a payoff.

    No

    Severance s2 isn’t coming out until 2026?

I think that's sarcasm, as they began filming season 2 earlier this year. But it probably won't be back until next year, which would be three years between seasons. Which is stupid, so it better be pretty fucking good.

  15. I've seen almost everything WA has made. Here is my personal ranking.

    1. Rushmore
    2. Royal Tenenbaums
    3. Fantastic Mr. Fox
    4. Life Aquatic
    5. Darjeeling Limited
    6. Grand Budapest
    7. Moonrise Kingdom
    8. Asteroid City
    9. Bottle Rocket
    10. Isle of Dogs
    11. French Dispatch (This is the only WA film I just didn't like at all. Tried watching it three times and fell asleep every time)

For me, It's really about tiers. Rushmore, Royal Tenenbaums and Fantastic Mr. Fox are a cut above the rest to me. Those are three remarkable films. But I think my age (45) and when those films came out might cause me to over-rank them. Saw Bottle Rocket in the theater the summer after I graduated high school. I was a sophomore at UT in 98 when Rushmore came out and I remember seeing it at the Dobie. Probably watched it 100 times over the next 5 years when it came out on VHS. So those two films came out during my peak years of media/culture consumption.  Then WA managed to somehow meet (and for some, exceed) expectations with Tenenbaums. Gene Hackman's character is an all-time favorite, and it's the best thing Ben Stiller has ever done. And Mr. Fox just blew my mind when it came out. I love it.

LA, DL, GBH, MR, and AC are pretty interchangeable depending on my mood. I love them all fairly equally, but just a tad bit less than the top 3. I realize I over-rank Darjeeling Limited. I don't know why I really love that film because it's got some problematic subject matter with "three spoiled white brothers bicker in India and generally act like jackasses". But still, I love the film. And I also realize I under-rank Grand Budapest Hotel. I think I need to re-watch that one.

Love Bottle Rocket but it being his first film, he hadn't fully-developed his style. But it was really quirky and funny and weird when it came out, and still has some of his best lines. It's in it's own category.

Then we've got Isle of Dogs and French Dispatch. I wanted to like Isle of Dogs. I really did. But I thought it was boring. And I just do not like French Dispatch at all. I tried watching it three times and fell asleep each time. It's the only stinker in the bunch.

I looked at a couple of other rankings on some websites and the funny thing is everyone's ALL OVER THE PLACE. There seems to be no consensus regarding where each film should rank, except that French Dispatch was always in the bottom three of every single ranking.
