If the beach road is REALLY passable, that happens.  Usually it gets a little dicey between 5 and 10, and totally 4x4 past mile 15 or so.

Yeah, I was super disappointed. There were only spots about 30 yard long that ever were soft, so you could essentially just carry speed through them. We stopped after driving for an hour to let the dog play. I’m going to go back in a few weeks and leave the dog home so I can drive to the end. Surely at some point it gets soft, cause we had it in 2wd the whole time doing 25.

I inherited many jars of nuts, bolts and washers from my Dad.  I still use em on occasion, but not nearly as much as allen wrenches anymore.  Machine screws and nuts more than actual bolts.  Part of it, I guess, is that I never wrench on cars anymore, at least not engines, but I suspect I'd find a lot of allen and torx there too.

Nope. I recently had two newer vehicles go out of warranty, so lots more hands on work being done. No Allen or Torx. Two different car brands, one less than 3 years old, one 5 years old. Lots of Phillips head/10mm bolts.

Crap, didn't see this and was wanting to buy one for myself.  We used them on our Philmont trips and they work great for a larger group backpacking together.

Yeah, a buddy has one, and its great for large quantities. It was only available for like 5-10 minutes.

I have Dish and want to get the MLB.TV package for the Astros since I can't watch their games.  I have a PS3, but I believe you need a 4 for mlb.tv.  Is an amazon fire tv the best option for me?  I wouldn't mind a better option for watching amazon stuff on since I'm not crazy about the ps3 app that i use now.  I watch netflix through Dish and really wish Amazon would do something similar because it's much better than switching devices but in the meantime I'm guessing the fire tv would be a lot faster than what I have now.

Do you live in the state of Texas? Well then fuck you.

gotta live out of state to get astros on MLB.TV.

#1 little brother is SEAL, hes not stupid enough to have kept the barrel that he used to kill his brother-in-law.

#2 I dont think it can be used against him the way you said even if he was that stupid.  and yes its a TV show, so the writers assume everyone is an idiot.

The chief and the reservation cop both thought the coup-de-grace, was the right thing to do as the ambulance couldnt arrive for 45 mins, and the guy was going to die in burning agony anyway.

now if they actually test the barrel and it matches the bullet that killed the BIL, so what, all it does is prove to the chief that the little brother did it, he cant PROVE it because how the fuck do you explain to the authorities, how you got the slide in the first place???

The reservation cop put in his report that HE killed the methhead.   now suddenly you have a barrel that matches the methhead dispatch AND the BIL being killed?  it would look like the reservation cop was the BIL killer, which could derail the Chief's plans.  But if they go public that they swapped out barrels,  the Rez Cop is flat out admitting he altered evidence and that he covered up the mercy killing- either way, reservation cop would now be in deep shit.

The furthest that goes is proving the little brother killed the BIL to the chief.  But then again, that assumes the bullets pulled from the BIL's body werent destroyed in the soon-to-be explosion of the medical clinic with the formaldehyde smoking  dead doc.

While all of this is true, I thought I saw Kaycie pull the pistol from his dying brother. And that is why everyone assumed it was a Mexican standoff gone bad. Why would they not have immediately searched for a 3rd shooter, instead of assuming that Dutton initially killed the injun? Thats how I saw that scene, but maybe I need to rewatch.

  7. I have a 2011 Base 4x4, so none of the frills, its a truck. Love this thing, its damn near bulletproof, and takes me some awesome places.

3rd gens have had some issues with tranny and how it shifts. Apparently they have released some updates, and folks have seemed happier with it, but the one time I have driven one, I was not the biggest fan. I'd try and find a gently used 2nd gen, with the bulletproof 4.0.

Either way, its a Toyota truck.

Go check on the truck nuts thread for more info I'd imagine.

Just found out that I work with a guy who has a little brother with a Hell of a Devil's River kayaking story.  Apparently he had a buddy die while they were kayaking down the river and they had to carry his body for a couple of days.  I think he said that it was a drowning.

Yeah, need as full of a story as you can provide.

There are a couple islands just upstream from 973 if I'm remembering right. You could drag up past those though. Its probably only 5 or 6 miles from 183 down to there, but I hate that put in.

I don’t think 183 is accessible right now due to construction.

  10. Well, have been on that stretch, but I’d imagine you could put in at 973, paddle upriver. It looks doable from 973  for a while. That was all flatwater to the weir from what I remember.

I am guessing the water is from a recent rain and doesn’t typically flow?

If that were the case, the water in the pic wouldn't be green/blue. The Colorado runs muddy brown anytime there is rain.

Edit: And once again, I'm looking at Topo maps now, and there just really isn't any area I'm seeing with a drop-off like that.

  12. So there is an old bridge pretty close after 183. Has the old abutments on each side. But definitely didn't have trees like that up top, and definitely no running water.
