It seems like universal remotes are dying - I don't get it though. There isn't a good way to handle AV systems as far as I know. In the great room we have a Samsung Smart TV and Denon receiver. That one works well except for one hang up which you guys might be able to answer. If we are using the Smart TV for streaming (Netflix, Disney, Amazon), we have to turn off the receiver. Is there a TV output that you can run back to the receiver for surround sound? I assume there is but I just haven't checked. Anyway, the system seems to get confused switching back from streaming to Dish. The back button and the home button don't necessarily bring you back to a screen where you can get back to Dish unless the receiver is off. Probably at some point we should upgrade the receiver to one that streams. That doesn't always work perfectly though in that we have a remote hard drive and the streaming system on a given receiver may or may not be able to read the format of the movie. None are as robust as VLC on a PC.

In the bedroom, I have an LG TV and a Sony Elite receiver. The LG TV remote sucks. On start-up the TV makes you choose HDMI 1. But, to do so, you must use the arrow buttons. There are no lights on the remote and the buttons are not offset in any manner. And if you choose the button above or below the correct one it removes the input screen. So, basically I have to put on glasses and turn the lights on in order to begin watching TV.

And I feel like the request is simple, Harmony laid out the foundation a long time ago as well. But yes, Smart TV, Receiver, 1 or 2 gaming consoles and that's it for a remote with IR/RF. I could easily be missing something I don't know about, but I haven't found that yet.

  2. Where specifically in DFW will you be? If Dallas, Celestial and Manhattan Project are pretty good. If you want a Pint House like experience, Vector Brewing in Lake Highlands is pretty good .
If closer to Fort Worth, I know mdleast likes Turning Point. I enjoy Division Brewing over in Arlington near the Rangers ballpark.

Staying at the Gaylord. Will hit up the Whip In in Flower Mound to grab some to go stuff.

Would love for Dike to become one of our top two options at the #9. He’s got the personality that the US has always been lacking from a marketing standpoint.
