  1. I was wondering why Pochettino almost made out with the Ecuadorean manager, but it’s because they have probably kissed many times before. The grossest part of playing 6 v 6 fútbol with a group of Argies from 2008-2009 was that after kissing everyone on the cheek before we played… …before we left, when we were all sweaty and gross, we had to go through and cheek-to-cheek with the kiss sound to every one of the other 11 guys who played. Besos are just part of the culture there. Show up for my dentist appointment and Dr. Pettiti has me give her a beso before I go sit in the patient’s chair and then she instructs me with a “Dame un beso.” as she hurries me out of the room so she can take her next patient.
  2. Why has Pochettino been playing video games all match? He should be paying attention to the team!
  3. They are without their best player (Chelsea’s Caicedo) and another 1 or 2 of their starters. Maybe they are adjusting to their personnel. The USMNT score started with winning a ball on the offensive side of midfield and then sending the ball to an offsides Tillman on the right wing. Tillman then crossed the ball into Balogun, who was making a run toward the near post from the edge of the box with a defender on his back. Balogun kind of bundles (bungles?) the ball into off the near post. Replay showed that Tillman may have been onside by a blade of grass, but they definitely didn’t show the technology that shows how much of the defender was keeping Tillman onsides.
  4. McKenzie in mid-qualifying form! Has McKenzie ever played well for the USA? Tillman was off. 😁
  5. How was that not offsides on Tillman? Balo!
  6. ECU’s Valencia looks like the stocky younger half-brother of DaMarcus Beasley.
  7. There should have been a body slam foul called on ECU just outside the box, but the foul against the USA that stopped play was NOT a foul.
  8. So you’re saying… WE ARE THE STANDARD!
  9. We have been close several times. I much rather see us play like this than how we have most of the last 20 months.
  10. Well, we cleared the initial defenders. 🙄
  11. I’m happy with Tessmann’s play so far. He could still be more of a presence on corner kicks… OH SO CLOSE! CORNER: … Could we clear the defenders on corner kicks? This isn’t even Pulisic sending them in!
  12. Miles is lucky to just get a yellow.
  13. Arfsten with the header dummy on their keeper’s clearance. Furk! I thought that Richards had hit the post, didn’t realize that their keeper had made a great save.
  14. That guy was faster than Richards. We have been playing pretty well, but we’re down 0-1.
  15. Stadium looks to be about 70% full. Lower level looks more respectable than the upper level. Nearly gave up a scoring opportunity off the kickoff. We appear to be in full Scrambling To Put Out Fires mode.
  16. Tonight’s USMNT Starting XI vs. Ecuador: 24-Matt Freese, 3-Chris Richards, 4-Tanner Tessmann, 8-Weston McKennie, 12-Miles Robinson, 13-Tim Ream (Capt.), 17-Malik Tillman, 18-Max Arfsten, 20-Folarin Balogun, 21-Tim Weah, 23-Aidan Morris It’s about time that Asian[sic] Morris starts over Christian Pulisic!
  17. “Being a 5’6” dude…” FIFY (slim possibility that he is 5’6.5” to 5’7”) PS- His combine height was 5’9.5”, but he must have been on the same traction machine that Kyler Murray used, because… ”AIN’T NO WAY THAT THAT BOY IS 5’9.5”!”
  18. 🤘 He is really fun to watch and will the first player to show signs of CTE from his draft class. But he will be a prince of NYC for the next season or two.
  19. Siegemund has had a strong second half of the year. Lots of upsets.
  20. The gave up zero goals vs France 🇫🇷 in group play and vs Italy 🇮🇹 in a knockout match. So they apparently have first teamers who can play D.
  21. You are 💩ing on “Project 2034”! These guys look like they have skill and know what they are doing.
  22. Do we have a U20 World Cup thread? Or have we been posting here? Spanish speaking Italian scored a brace for the USA vs the original motherland. ESPN’s report: https://www.espn.com/soccer/report/_/gameId/759738
  23. I don’t know about that. The whole game and even after the game, I felt like OSU was playing conservatively on offense, because they could. Arch was absolutely awful, so they didn’t have to do anything out of their comfort zone. If we had scored a 2nd TD, I think that they would have opened up the playbook a bit more. Maybe that would have overwhelmed their new starter, but maybe it would have gotten the better of our defense. We came out of that game thinking that our defense was amazing because we held OSU to 14 points, but maybe Ryan Day held OSU to 14 points. Our defense gave up over twice that to a 1-3 Florida team.
  24. I went to the Oktoberfest up in Frisco at The Star’s south mall and then drove north to the Frisco H-E-B so that I could compare/contrast it to the north Plano H-E-B (virtually identical). Frisco H-E-B is barely west of the toll road from Pizza Hut Park (or whatever it’s called now) and I saw that the lights were on at the stadium. I briefly wondered if the MLS season was still going on or if there was a Frisco high school football game taking place… …and then I turned right to start my 20 minute journey back to the city of Dallas and completely forgot that I had even seen anything until I noticed your post… from FOUR DAYS AGO! Go MLS team! You’re crushing it! 🥳
  25. The number of times her stated that the winner of UT @ OSU was going to have to score at least 3 touchdowns, because 2 touchdowns wasn’t going to get it done in 2 to 3 weeks leading up to that game had to have been in the triple digits. It is amazing how wrong he is when he is so close to the program. It wasn’t so much that he was completely wrong about the score needed, but that he stated it like it was written in stone and that he repeated it enough times that even Forrest Gump would be able to remember it.
