What percentage of republicans identify as christians? Gotta be 90% plus right? And yet it's like at some point they all got together and decided that they should be the complete opposite of Jesus Christ. Anti-Christs, if you will.

Jesus Christ: If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor.
MAGA Catholics: Fuck off, commie.

Anyone commented on the increased parking prices now that it is thru seatgeek? Fuck me they are trying to ruin this franchise.
Haven’t seen that. But the MLS’s brilliant decision to move games to a premium streaming platform last season dramatically reduced my interest in the league. I pay a lot more attention to EPL and even Liga MX (which is fun as hell to watch and a far superior product to MLS overall).

Quibbling a bit with you and Huck, but I’m only voting against my own financial interests. I view people as resources (future intellect, future economic drivers, future innovation) and I want to cultivate those resources, not depress them. And that means happier people, a more stable country, less concern over our future, etc. It makes my life better, so in that sense I’m absolutely voting in my own best interests
Very true. There’s no such thing as pure altruism. The key is that our self interest is also to the benefit of others—we desire a better world for everyone. Wealthy MAGAts don’t give a shit about that. They just want as much money as possible, and couldn’t care less about all the harm their greed causes everyone else.

Same here. The difference between us and MAGA clowns on that point, however, is we intentionally vote against our interest where doing so benefits others who need more help.
I vote for politicians who are more likely to raise my taxes while reducing the tax burden on the working class, because I think that a progressive tax system is fair.
The billionaire MAGA set votes with their pocketbooks. But the working Joes are just deluding themselves that Trump has any intention or capability to make their lives better. If working class Americans really wanted to improve their lives, they should be rallying behind someone like Elizabeth Warren.

Your memory is correct. Yes, the issue absolutely gives me pause. I'm not a single-issue voter; but I feel there are few issues that have a greater impact on social mobility/ raising the floor of our society. Fuck yeah, it gives me pause.

Yeah. I've made large financial committments to Texas athletics, and I can trace a line of my life path directly back to attending UT. And yet if my son got accepted to UT and wanted to attend, I'm pretty sure I'd feel sick to my stomach.
I used to say that if there’s a heaven, mine will be an eternal freshman year at UT. The institution and my love for it has been an integral part of my life and identity for as long as I can remember. I met my wife in Jester. I met lifelong friends at UT. My sister graduated two years after me. My brother in law and a cousin attended shortly after me and had many of the same professors and classes. The first piece of clothing we dressed my son in was a tiny little Longhorn onesie. After law school, I could have worked anywhere in the country. We chose Austin because we loved the city and the university and we wanted our kids to grow up here.
The plan was always, always, always to encourage the kids to be Longhorns. But thanks to the fascist assault on everything decent and rational, we’ve done a complete 180 in the last year.
Fuck Texas. There’s no way in hell I’d ever send my kids to a college in this shithole state. And we’re getting the fuck out as soon as our youngest graduates high school.

For anyone who has read ANY history books, we're actually past the thing that gets us to the thing. The ultimate thing is a lot closer than you realize. It will happen to us, just like it's happened to other "civilized countries." And, if we're lucky, decades later, people will be asking "HOW IN THE HELL DID THAT HAPPEN?" The answer will be easy: the same way it always does, as you pointed out above.
This. Human beings in general suck. The natural state of affairs is a steady progression towards war, persecution, and general awfulness. Consider it the Second Law of Sociological Thermodynamics. It takes constant work to organize mankind in a way that bucks the trend of increasing fascist entropy. That’s why the assholes spent so much time sabotaging our institutional guardrails. Once those fall, we naturally tumble towards fascism.

So glad I left in 2019. Seriously. Anyone with a modicum of intelligence who is under 50 will get the fuck out of the shithole Texas has become.
I told my wife yesterday we’re leaving after our daughter graduates. That kid is tearing through a full slate of AP classes like Michelangelo through a kindergarten finger painting lesson, and mentioned yesterday that she’s interested in UT. To which I responded “Fuck no. No daughter of mine is attending the University of fucking Texas.” Which stunned me when I processed what I had just said and realized I meant every word of it.
How the fuck did we get here?

I am actually convinced that people in Texas are too stupid to understand anything.
It’s a combo of dumb, selfish, and short-sighted. The denizens of our fair state have all three in spades.

Tom Emmer (sp?) House Maj Whip on Hulu Super Tuesday coverage.
What a complete gaslighting dick hole.
Also, the whole both sides / border talk / Biden age talk and not focusing on Trumps retribution tour and the death of democracy is so fucking sad.
Media falling for this hook line and sinker.
Ill be on the ledge
The rightwing is whipping our asses in the propaganda game. It’s not a fair fight, though. While their side is populated with drooling zombies who nod their heads and squeal with delight at whatever idiotic nonsense they’re fed, we have a bunch of objective critical thinkers who say things like “It is true that Biden is old and gets confused” and “I wish we had better choices” and “Biden is fucking up the Israel thing and maybe I should protest vote.”
It sure must be nice to be in the business of convincing idiots to do whatever you want.

Dude. Far left is the new objective.

please vote for the CCA judges who dared to cross Paxton (i.e., followed the law): Keller, Hervey, Slaughter (sigh)
Done. Those three and Haley each got 3 votes from our little group of Soros funded commie sympathizers today. I also took the opportunity to cast “No” votes on various jingoistic GOP propositions, such as “Should the Texas Constitution be amended so that it is required to be etched onto police batons for use in beating illegal immigrants?” and “Should the Texas Constitution be amended to require each Mexican citizen to be wrapped in razor wire?”
All in all, it felt very dirty. But I reminded myself that my ballot is a middle finger to fascists, which may be the best we Texans can do at this point.

Aside from promising to be tougher on violent criminals, has Sylestine explained his position on non-violent offenses (e.g., minor drug possession, etc.)?
-
Let’s say a strategic-minded leftist is considering voting for Haley in the primary. Which other R candidates in TX / Travis County would be worth an anti-MAGA protest vote?
