I’ll admit. We just finished watching pulp fiction like 30 mins ago. I’m feeling a little bit of the Wolf, Jules pre-divine intervention, and maybe a few others. Not quite Samurai sword Butch or Marcellus with a shot gun though.

Damn, just reminded me I'm running out of time. Pulp Fiction is one of my once a year movies I have stashed on an SSD. 2001 a Space Odyssey, The Fifth Element, Blade Runner directors cut and Apocalypse Now are in there as well but already watched.

That is a very good list man! I'd add Road Warrior (original) and The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. But... yeah.

I don’t really want Bama again because of the rematch dynamic. Ou fans here were initially worried about a rematch in the big 12 championship for the same reason, then they shit the bed. I’m not a big fan of rematches in CFB tbqh.

"On paper" I think we match up better against Bama, but I concur about not wanting a re-match no matter how good their QB isn't. Also, I want to have beaten all the P5 champs. Finally, agreed, as a college football fan, re-matches suck.

Was referring to the Yell Leaders.  But judges would also accept Genaro, Stevens, and even Sabatino into the portal.

Fair, but if you want something supernatural I'd suggest Ghostly Coach Staff over someone who owns a Bitchin Camaro.

    -A 'Chinese Stanford Knockoff', Stefon?

Yeah, it's like that College Station thing where an anti-Asian Yell Leader occidentally bangs a male sheep; but turns out he's only academically qualified for Blinn.  And then ironically moves to Palo Alto to berate the Bay Area for being too full of gays.  This year's hottest Portal Transfer is called "Chippewas!"

    -"Chippewas", Stefon?

This place has everything.  Ojibwes, Dead Milkmen, Laced Ice Cream, List Eaters, Bowties, and $76mm of blow.  Oh, sorry.  A blown $76mm and a guy named after an obscure gambling outpost in Northern Nevada where I met my future stepcousin for drinks.   But he got stuck.

Slow your roll motherfucker, word choice matters.

I think 3rd and long has been no problem for Penick.  The entire D will need to manufacture some stops/TO’s

I think Penix is definitely the best QB we have and hopefully will face, by a goodly margin. Counter point, Washington really hasn't seen a defense of our quality. From a defensive standpoint it really comes down to whether or not we can get pressure on Penix without blitzing. May seem that simplistic and there obviously a lot of nuances that have already been covered in this thread by folks with a higher football IQ than me. However, at the end of the day that's item one.

Item two, which I really think more important, is whether or not Sark will keep the gas peddle down on offense if we get a lead of more than 10 points. I think we WILL get a lead, and actually grow it into the 3rd beyond this year's historical. BUT... that's when I fear Sark pull his foot off. Hope I'm wrong.

I think we can win either way (though it's definitely NOT a given), but keeping UW on its heals in the early 4th defensively.. turns into a completely different game.

The biggest difference between last year’s defense and this year’s is situational defense. Texas was 94th in opponent 3rd down conversions last year, they are 2nd in the nation this year.  They are 12th in red zone TD percentage. Last years defense was solid, but struggled to get off the field (lots of long drives). This year’s defense gets off the field

Part of the reason they're so much better on third is that we force a lot more 3rd and +6 yards this year too. I know that's super hot and brilliant observation but it's an important fact. It's in no small part to due to great play at the LOS.

Makes sense.  What doesn't make sense are the draft evaluations.  Odunze is ranked as high as a top 10 pick, mainly because he will supposedly test (4.3 speed) really well at the combine.  But I can't think of one instance where he makes people look like they're running in sand like Worthy does.

Worthy seems to have that Tyreek play speed in highlights.  Seems like that should be pretty coveted in the NFL.  But I've seen Mitchell as having a higher draft grade as well.

Speed is fantastic, NFL wants consistency, hands, effort and athleticism.

Worthy will absolutely get a look and PT, but as others have noted he doesn't love go fetch with a crowd.

Worthy is a gamewrecker. If you don't account for him, the band is playing Texas Fight. Mitchell is more reliable actually catching the ball. He runs really fluid routes and sells his fakes really well. He's the best catcher on the team. Sanders can burn you a number of ways, even with a bad ankle. Whittington is probably our best receiver against zone coverage, and he's winning more consistently against man now.

Blue may have some of the best hands on the team, and definitely the best in the RB room. Very fast and can run P5 WR level routes.

Stop Worthy first, then hope Quinn doesn't see the other guys that are open.

This is pretty much how it has to go.

Find a way to stop worthy and get pressure on Quinn without a lot of blitzing and still contain run.

Not an easy task and why I frankly differ with the majority of Surly on my opinion that Texas matches up better with UW than Michigan. (Both tough match ups for the record)

Not homerish at all.  Just the truth.  Honestly, the main advantage your offense has over ours is the TE.  Our TE is serviceable at catching and makes some good plays.  But he's a walk-on that played a total of 2 high school football games before walking on at UW.  Not quite the same level instilled fear that Sanders brings haha.

    That's a fair point too.

This page really spells out why I think the over is a very solid bet in this game.

Edit - I just want to echo other comments saying thanks for bring real football talk from the opposing view. We are a bunch of dicks and know it all but if you have a clue we enjoy engaging.

Thanks.  I was thinking that if it were 4th and 10 at the end of the game and all our receivers had equal amounts of separation, Penix is throwing to Odunze for sure.
And that same situation if I were a Texas fan, I think I'd want Ewers to throw it to Mitchell.  But I've only seen a few games.  Just wondering if you guys would agree.

Worthy has proven himself a dangerous weapon this year, probably has more YAC than Mitchell, but Mitchell seems to be Quinn's go to receiver for TD's. I know this will sound pretty homerish, but it's a pick your poison type thing with our offense when it's firing on all cylinders, but I'm sure you can say the same about UW.

I would argue the biggest variance in that regard UT vs UW is our break away speed and power at RB with Oline that opens gaps up the middle. I haven't seem that at any point from UW, but I admit I only watched 3 of their games.
