One of the few things I would miss when we move out of Austin is Alamo Drafthouse.
No clue where you're moving but Alamo has a pretty big presence outside Austin and Texas.

It was the first that came up on her Wikipedia and I'm completely shocked she looks better post edit in film. Like I said, I don't want to kink shame nor derail the thread. I get loving a character for sure, but as actresses Gough, Denise is a pretty low bar looks wise.

You sure about that? Now? Have you even SEEN Earl try to walk around lately????
I've always found those types of discussions rather pointless personally. Would Mario Andretti and Jackie Stewart dominate F1 today with the wild changes in cars and rules? How would they compare to Louis Hamilton and Max Verstappen? Would they be able to drive the cars as well, not at the start no, but could they learn, likely. Had they grown up with them... well now we're off in hypothetical hell.
Both pairs of men would flounder at first if tossed into the cars of the other pair, all else being equal. Does not alter the all time greatness of any of them.

I think that is just where the eyes go. Easy to see the contributions of QBs and RBs. I didnt see Nobis, but that was a time when MLB was a premium position (3 yards and a cloud of dust was the preferred offense). Nobody has mentioned Casey Hampton. The guy had 119 tackles (78 solo), 3.5 sacks, 18 TFLs, and 22 QB pressure in 2000. Just to put that 2000 season in context, DJ had 130 tackles and 73 solo in his final year at Texas. In 1999 Hampton had 101 tackles (50 solo), 3 sacks, 21 TFLs, and 24 QB pressures. That is just insane from a NT. Its hard to argue any Longhorn has ever played their position to higher standard than that, but that isnt a position that gets a lot of hype. I do not think we will ever see a DT record 100 tackles ever again, let alone do it twice.
Iceman beat me to it, but he and I discussed him last page. Try and keep up!

One thing with DBs is that if they play early they get exposed decently often. Jahdae was great as a soph then struggled late as a junior once he got dinged up then was outstanding to cap his career as a senior. He had limited action as a frosh so you didn’t see his lack of maturity exposed that year. He was the most important and likely most impactful player we had on defense this year. He was incredibly versatile.
I was going to make a similar point. I would say game to game no other single player had a broader positive impact on the Texas football team in 2024.

I don't know if you're being serious about going to SF but if you are, you'll find it's not like what you're thinking.
I personally don't care for SF nor the people in SF. I do love SD and Long Beach and the people in both. Oddly, I really like Laguna Beach, New Port Beach and Huntington Beach but I'm not particularly fond of most the people in any of them.
I've never felt the need for a gun in any of them.
Watts... little sketchy.
Though I've never been in a protest nor riot in any of them unless you include me protesting the lack of attention from smoking hot women in all of them.. so...

So follow-up, I called 911 later that morning because they said "please contact 911 if you have any information" and I told them "thanks for letting me know, but my kids are accounted for and are pre-teens anyways." They weren't happy about that call (guess they were upset they still didn't have any info, I dunno) and kind of vaguely threatened me for calling 911 with that info, so I decided not to spout off some Dead Milkmen lyrics at them.
Anyways, apparently APD uses 911 to reverse-call everybody within a few miles when something like this happens, but my wife didn't get the call (and her phone and my share an account).
Was wondering what the follow-up to that was, but the area where the kid was at is Tarrytown, so yeah, there will be no follow-ups.
You should have just told them you drive a bitchin' Camaro, and 911 is a joke in their town.

Thinking about this more, we have had a lot of great DBs over the years but none are worthy of a Mt Rushmore especially when guys like VY, Ricky, Earl, Nobis, Street, and Layne exist.
I don't disagree in the broad strokes at all. However, watch the video bellow and think about this question. What was the strength of Texas last year? Who was the best player for the strength of the team and likely the most important? What about 2009? What about 4th and 2?

Been a lot of videos with a lot of music that was a bit of a struggle. The narration on that one might make it top 5 of all posts in this thread and I've no idea what he was saying.

Aggies are very nice. One time I could not locate Kyle Field from the parking lot. A couple nice Aggies helped me find my way. I was not intimidated.
Are you trying to say they didn't take you by their tailgate first, embrace you with open arms, and provide you the most exquisite culinary delights known to man prior escorting you to your seat?!?
I'm calling bullshit.

Based on the link you posted, there are 9 (if we include Schooler at his assigned position and not as a STer)
Thompson, Barron, Jones, Locke, Schooler, Boyd, Mukuba, Elliott, and Jamison.
I'm also counting 12 for both LSU and Ohio State.
Not sure why yours are off from mine... username checks out? Haha
I did it quickly prior to a meeting with certainty that Surly would check my work. So, thanks! 😘

My favorite part about that play is watching Zuhn get his dick stomped by Collins and then going over and picking up the ball after his RB dropped it.
He is so fucking defeated. I saw it then but it's epic. Thanks for the refresh.

It's only mid-June. By mid-August they will be expecting to make the CCG and Playoffs.
Expecting to make?
No, by August the Heisman, SEC and National championship won't even be in question. The only close games will be ND who they'll see again in the championship (after they later lose to) and LSU (cause "rivalry").

Bobby Layne should be the 2nd QB. 3 time all-swc and 2x All-American. College and NFL HOF
That's not what was asked. We've (general we as in Surly) have had that argument before. He was asking why Colt hasn't been mentioned.
This list is subjective. You are welcome to create your own as well rather than arguing with me on every post.

Thorpe is an award for a position/group. Its not a standard that would knock Vince out. Vince has Davey OBrien, Maxwell, and Manning Awards. I am sure there is someone that you could argue on the positional award criteria, but it is a solid jumping off pt for picking the greatest Longhorns ever.
Derrick Strait (I see you Lanier) beat Vasher for a Thorpe and Bush beat VY for a Heisman. I have a predisposition against the subjective bias of awards, but your point is sound.
