I’m planning on going into CC for a fitting focused on hybrids. I’m a little sheepish to do so because my swing isn’t quite where I want it. I hit a draw with my 7-wedges, a straight flight with my 6 and sometimes 5, and then hit a slight cut with my 3-4 irons. Ideally I play a draw with every club, at least that’s the shot I want to play. Is the fact that I don’t have my swing exactly how I want it with the longer clubs going to potentially put me in a club that I can’t hit when I do get my swing exactly how I want it? I feel like this happened to me with my driver a few years ago and I have it in my head that I would have selected a different driver under different conditions.

My swing is never quite how I want it. If it was, I would be a plus handicap. I was just looking for something better than the set I'm playing, and to learn a lot about how I'm swinging. What I found out was my current clubs, while decent on their own, were no where close to what I needed, so I'm glad I went. After I get these new ones, I can change my swing to what works with those clubs as I go, and as my swing changes. No one's swings are stagnant, it is always going to change a bit. I say do it if you are playing averagely. If you are in a complete, and temporary funk, I would put it off.

  2. Caveat, I'm a bit of a data nerd.

So got a full bag fitting at Club Champion today, and holy fuck, that was awesome. Going back next weekend to try one more driver head (Cobra F9) he didn't have in stock just yet, and do fairway woods, but my question for you is around putters.

He ended up suggesting I roll with my current SC Futura X5R, but getting a lighter grip and adding weight to the sole, as well as cutting down 1/2". He said I should look for a new sole plate to add weight, to which I asked:

JSB "Do you mean changing the removable weights?"

Mike "Well, you could do that too, it may be cheaper than changing the sole plate, they are expensive on discontinued models, but I can't get it from Titleist"

So after looking around, I didn't know you could change the sole plate to add weight, and can't seem to figure out where to find them. Any ideas? Are some of the plates interchangeable between a few years? Did he get confused?  I'll clarify when I go back, but I would like to go with a "Did you mean something like this, or this" type question.

Highly recommend it, Mike Rausch did an awesome job for me. Nothing on order yet, as I want to price it out to my club, but he put me in P790 irons with a KBS Tour V shaft, PXG 0811x gen2 driver with Aldilia Rogue Elite green 65 shaft, and Cleveland RTX-4 wedges thus far. The irons have added 10 yards, driver 20, both with a much more consistent dispersion. The wedges, we will see, but they felt great off the mat. I may just order one of those first to see how they do on grass. I don't hit a full wedge often, mostly around the green, but I did learn, I've got a stupid wide sole on the 58* I use the most.

Golf clubs have gotten so much harder since your options were brand, R/S/XS, and that was about it.

Checking in here. I thought I was done a year ago, then lost my Magrette, decided I needed to replace it, ended up buying two relatively inexpensive watches, and deciding that I finally needed to add a Rolex to the collection. I'm finishing a major project at work at the end of May, after which, I will finally decide on the model of Rolex I need, and then, like clockwork, I will decide that I finally need to pull the trigger on a Nomos, Glashutte, or IWC because I've always really liked their offerings, plus REASONS

  4. Wife and I have had the same conversation about our kids. I was raised that way and teach my kids the same, to an extent. I don't need my son to say "yes sir" to me when I ask him if he has to use the bathroom, but if anyone else of authority asks him something, I expect it. My wife was fine with that, until my kids went to stay a week with my parents, and they really hammered it home with them. "Yes sir, yes ma'am" to every single question. That is what annoyed my wife, but not because she thought it was archaic. She didn't like the kids calling her ma'am all the time, because it made her feel old.

  5. I had a 2012 ecoboost, and went with the V8 when I traded it in for a 2017. I know the eco has come a long way since 2012, but I only got about 1-2 mpg better with the eco, and my V8 has 35" tires on it. I don't tow a trailer often, but regularly have a full bed. ymmv but I'm happy with my decision

  6. Retired woman pissed off about the noise interrupting her art time. I can understand noise complaints in the middle of the night, but during the day? Fuck the hell right off, or go move to a 100 acre ranch

  7. FIL stayed over Saturday night to help watch my 4 year old daughter, while I took my son to/from a birthday party. My wife was out of town. I leave to take my son, while he stays home with my daughter, and get back home about 30-45 minutes later to see them two sitting there watching Bird Box.  I ran over and turned it off, but the survivors were all already in the house, which means my 4 year old sat through the entire mass suicide scene after Sandra and her sister leave the hospital.

I asked him what he was doing, and he said a button got pressed, and Netflix was all he could get to turn on. Luckily, my daughter either wasn't really watching that scene, or it didn't phase her, but still... old people are such idiots sometimes. The movie was good though, I enjoyed it.

  8. I got fitted through the bag at champions, I’ll post my results soon.

Posted in the 2019 thread but Champions has 50% off fittings if you get it done by the end of January. I’m likely going to get something scheduled this evening.
  9. Was planning on getting a full bag fitting this winter. Not necessarily unhappy with my clubs, but I feel like I'm leaving strokes on the table playing nearly 10 year old irons bought off the shelf, and a driver and 3 wood that are probably 4+ years old. Right now, Club Champion has a deal going with 50% off a full bag fitting. Is Club Champion Lewisville still a recommended place, or should I avoid it?

  10. I’ve got some old cards still somewhere, but I think these days my most valuable is the complete set of the 1994 Coke Monsters of the Gridiron cards. I do have some signed things I have put up in the game room. Couple of Nolan signed things, Bagwell bat, David Robinson photo, a 1992 locker room stat sheet signed by almost the full Spurs roster, and the crown jewel, a Longhorn helmet from their 2006 championship signed by nearly everyone on the team. Still missing Ramonce which I need to get off my ass and go get, but all the other big players are there.

That's a sweet watch. Is it available in copper face?

I've wanted a 356 since the first time I saw one.

That is the watch that first drew me to the brand. The 956 only comes in a tan and black face. The power reserve is what sold me on the 956. Plus I think it is a little more rare, but to be honest, I think I've only seen less than 10 Sinns in the wild since I started really appreciating watches 8 years ago.

  12. Yeah, I don’t have all the wheels turning, but I also like not having to reset them when I put them on. Especially the Vostok because it doesn’t have a quickset date. Real pain in the ass when I don’t wear it for a few weeks.

  13. The other guy with Sinn 956....fucking fantastic

Thanks, that was my first nice watch purchase I picked myself. Fell in love as soon as I saw one. My wife got me a watch for a wedding gift but it was before I really got into watches and it was a Tag Calibre. Not a bad watch by any means and actually keeps really really good time, but I wouldn’t pick it again now that I know more about what is out there.

Here is my current stable, with the next likely to be an Explorer II

  14. Checking in with my 956 on an ammo pouch strap. I love the strap but may need to switch it up to the bracelet or black strap for the holidays. Seems stupid, but for some reason I feel like cold weather needs something metal or black
