I have no doubt that we probably sing different sets of Christmas carols.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A man who is suspected of killing two and wounding several others at Brown University has been found dead in a New Hampshire storage facility, a law enforcement official and a person familiar with the matter told The Associated Press. The man was found dead Thursday evening. He is believed to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the person familiar with the matter said. Investigators believe the man is responsible for both the shooting at Brown and the killing of a Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor who was fatally shot in his Brookline home Monday, the official said. Authorities have not formally confirmed a connection between the two shootings. Totally normal. Causal inference and linking strains.

LOL. The fact that you think that post can inform your assessment of me or my posts says more than enough about you and your willingness to speak from ignorance. I of course mean no disrespect. -

It's pretty straightforward to monetize some aspects of benefits of WAH vs. in office setting, but some the other aspects you outlined are certainly harder to put to value to. And the value assessment will vary based on a significant number of very individual and/or personal factors. -
481.034(g) Except as otherwise provided by this subsection, if a substance is designated, rescheduled, or deleted as a controlled substance under federal law and notice of that fact is given to the commissioner, the commissioner similarly shall control the substance under this chapter. After the expiration of a 30-day period beginning on the day after the date of publication in the Federal Register of a final order designating a substance as a controlled substance or rescheduling or deleting a substance, the commissioner similarly shall designate, reschedule, or delete the substance, unless the commissioner objects during the period. If the commissioner objects, the commissioner shall publish the reasons for the objection and give all interested parties an opportunity to be heard. At the conclusion of the hearing, the commissioner shall publish a decision, which is final unless altered by statute. On publication of an objection by the commissioner, control as to that particular substance under this chapter is stayed until the commissioner publishes the commissioner’s decision.

I don't think it requires legislative action to reschedule. Texas CSA adopts federal schedule unless HHSC objects, unless there are other statutes in play which could certainly be the case. Its the white coats that give it the air of credibility, not the glasses.

Looks like the EO is done. Will be interesting to see how this plays out. Will trickle down to Texas CSA unless the HHSC commissioner objects.

I think it's very industry specific. Everything is done virtually these days in my field. We're all on zoom calls, whether those are with folks in Boston or NYC or DC, Copenhagen or Barcelona. Sometimes all required on the same day. Doesn't really matter if you are in the office or not, you're sitting on a zoom call with someone. But yes it's also good to mix in a F2F every once in a while to hash out more complex details or solidify a relationship. That shit mostly happens at conference these days. If you need to make a sandwich to sell someone or lay a concrete pad, it's clearly a different thing. The mentorship discussion upthread is the most compelling argument I can see for in office. You have to be more intentional certainly in remote settings. I don't think that WAH has had any impact on promotion or leadership opps for me, but understand that mileage will vary in other settings. -

What's wrong with sourdough? I got a venison stock on the stove right now. In some industries scarcity and recruitment needs requires adopting WAH to fill very niche roles. We were remote long before COVID, but certainly could see how other situations that forced to adopt WAH during COVID should probably go back. -
This post reflects strong measures of selection and perception bias with your baked in political perspective. And that's OK. I've been in lots of airports from central to east coast over the last few months and can't honestly recall noting an imbalance in political attire. I currently live in probably the trumpiest Austin ex-burb. I previously lived in a decidedly liberal enclave of Austin (there were moms literally balling their eyes out in the elementary school hallway on the morning after the election in 2016). Shocking that there are different distributions of political messaging and signaling in those environments. You see people blowing past social cues in one situation or the other based on your perceptions. It's human nature. Here is an interesting analysis from CATO dated to 2020. Their analysis suggests that extreme liberals are most vocal while moderates and conservatives have been conditioned in the current political environment to keep things closer to the vest. Now, I guess, back to the discussion of ways for liberals to tweak their politically divergent family members at Christmas. https://www.cato.org/survey-reports/poll-62-americans-say-they-have-political-views-theyre-afraid-share

Sometimes wearing no pants. I have worked my whole career remotely. I don't know how people go to an office. So much wasted time and resources involved in commuting.
