  1. just said, that if one person gets it, they won't get it again. wtf? did this guy just lose ALL credibility?!
  2. yeah, this entire press conference is a hedge of "we did great! but its going to get worse but we are fine at this exact moment. but it'll get worse so don't say we didn't warn you!" No CR but sounds like a press conference that any admin would do once they've been briefed that the hit is coming. The risk is low but there will be more cases! Great.
  3. talking about Afghanistan for some reason... 6 minutes in, now starts talking about the virus 22 cases, 1 death overnight, 15 in recovery in USA china numbers down and according to Tim Cook at Apple "they" are at full operation Meeting Monday with big pharma re: vaccine. Task force met for 2.5 hours on 02/29/20 and got recommendations asks for people to not panic Pence to talk about travel restrictions to include other/more? countries; including now any foreign national who has been to Iran in 14 days. Going to lvl 4 advisory for specific regions in Italy and SK, urging americans to not travel to the areas most affected there by the virus
  4. i don't have cable but 1min until the press conference on the fox news website. edit: starting.
  5. ...and that would destroy the economy. not sure how to balance the two issues.
  6. lulz. too somnio. I'm not able to work from home, and if nyc hits italy levels of cases then yeah, thats gonna leave a mark for me. as for the economy, do they keep the indexes open and the rest of the city shuts down? do they close the mta? I realize that is a "big if" regarding the number of cases but who knows what'll happen. A "closed" nyc not only affects me personally but everyone else on this board will feel it in the economy.
  7. I do hope it turns into a cat1/trop storm and we dodge a bullet. and correct, we won't go into the dark ages no matter what happens. but from the article below: this part: "This has been much easier: no chills, no body aches. I breathe easily, and I don't have a stuffy nose. My chest feels tight, and I have coughing spells. If I were at home with similar symptoms, I probably would have gone to work as usual " means he would be infecting the shit out of a lot of people with something that feels like an average cold. But if the 10-20% hospitalization figure is anywhere true, then somnio level numbers come into play b/c then everyone is getting it and hospitals can't handle that 10-20%. So an overrun healthcare system will change "life as we know it for the foreseeable future". or if you consider this part in light of the Oregon school news: "I left home in January that I wouldn't be back until March - that, instead, I would be confined for more than 24 days" then people throughout the economy missing work for 24 days or people missing 5 then thinking "fuck it, i need money i'm going to work fuck everyone else's health" will affect "life as we know it for the foreseeable future". again, hopefully we dodge a bullet but i'd lay a Trading Places gentleman's bet on the foreseeable future being different.
  8. it won't end civilization. But in regards to your statement, way back on page 59 i was wondering if this would fundamentally change american societal interactions. Until we get a vaccine, I think it will but I hope thats where the effect ends. And more importantly, regardless of which party is in the whitehouse, I hope the CDC does its damn job and learns from this outbreak's fuckups.
  9. never had 1920 so can't judge ...yet. might as well get some this wknd, f it, if i'm stuck at home i'm gonna be drunk.
  10. welp ... it's been a historic week, for better or for worse, and i'm still here . . . at least at the beginning, not judging just saying but I can say I was there. so with that in mind i am cracking open the 1910. smells sweet, mellow and very nice. tastes great, thanks for posting about it. cheers
  11. As repeatedly stated, looking only at mortality is not why the virus is an issue. Next time please read the thread before posting useless shit that has already been addressed
  12. Every time I read “everyone has it” I think of the walking dead.
  13. I dunno, Conspiracy is definitely too hard a word but it is sort of the predicament we are in (unless my sarcasm meter is broken) There are reports that all info has to come from the VP office only, right? So silencing kind of fits at certain very high levels (but would be unbelievable at the local hospital level... sorta). Then on the other hand, someone (the doc friend) in the nation is freely spreading an imaginable rumor to his buddy who then spreads that via a tool of rather odd bunch of assholes. Not saying I necessarily believe or disbelieve the rumor but you kind of described our exact current situation when confronting virus info in February 2020.
  14. I’ll bet money that the number of cases between now and the 13 in Austin and Texas will make postponement the right choice. Either way, good luck to all. If the NorCal hospital is any indication, our fuck ups are gonna make this way worse than it should be
  15. that seems like an unwise position for them to take.
  16. so do they cancel south by? until when can they decide? right up to the 13th?
  17. pic? couldn't find it online besides the two videos on this page but they don't seem to be talking about ebola.
  18. Honestly don’t think Any of those Europe plans up thread Between now and this summer are gonna happen. Just saying. Hope I’m wrong
  19. Can someone please shut down this sock and keep this thread to actual news, questions, and updates?
  20. Disney plus the only place to watch it?
  21. I’d think the bigger worry is that you fly out and then your trip gets cut short or you have to scramble to fly back before flights are cut off, no?
  22. Fake Christian. What a terrible human being
  23. Interesting, sverige radio or 8 Sidor didn’t have anything and aftonbladet mentioned it happened but didn’t blame corona since they’ve been reporting staff shortages At that hospital for a while now. They did say it’s back to normal today though
